I hope Asian programs are not trying to be like shows in the US. I have an affinity for South Korean movies and series because they tell multi leveled, well developed stories without succumbing to easy, provocative and salacious content. Don’t lose the charm and class that has always been the mainstay of SK entertainment. Continue to stand out and not become just another one of the mediocre masses.
Are you talking about the East ASIAN programs or the other programs from other Asian countries like India, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Kazakhstan, UAE, Qatar, Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan, Kyrgystan, etc.?
I’m curious because I don’t know, sooooo what exactly is the “cultural” aspect of sex, drugs, alcohol in Korea? The “public” persona vs. the real truth underneath - how people REALLY act and feel as opposed to the surface facade projected to the world? In just discovering K & C dramas, Thai BL’s in the last 8 months I’ve gotten the impression that the extreme pressures, expectations, rigid standards of behavior, speech, dress, “beauty” and looking/acting perfect are the driving forces behind suicides, drinking too much, drugs, depression, addictions to things like sex in the dark alleys of cities that are a well known secret that no one talks about. Why has Korea & China become so….harsh, abusive and unforgiving to the actors many claim to love? What’s wrong with being just a human being with flaws, desires, feelings, speaking your truth, stepping outside of the box to explore the deeper waters of the REAL world we live in and bring certain topics into the light to discuss and begin to actually “help” people who may be lost, confused, lonely, depressed, abused. How many beautiful souls are lost each year because they have no one to safely open up to? This isn’t just a problem in Korea and China but it seems to be worse there with the “taboo” of speaking your true feelings or trying to change some of these toxic attitudes. It hurts my heart to read and hear some of the things said about these great actors. Most of it so unnecessary. So why attack people? It’s been an ugly revelation of how actors are treated since I began watching these shows. The beautiful customs, culture, food, countryside, people on one hand then the dark underside of life there too. These exist everywhere true, but the excessive judgement and attacking people for the slightest perceived imperfection seems harsher in these countries. It just makes me sad….
Ditto! They r ridiculous how they r so upset but such hypocrites! I love K& C dramas,& BL but to condemn these great shows over these BS actions is not true to life & so hypocritical! I makes me sick how mean & vile some comments r why is it their business ? Son't 3atch if u don't like or agree! Live ur owm life! So unbelievable! Yes I am American & these negative comments r nothing and disgusting! These r actors that work hard and portray real life! Such a shame,these pathetic comments!!!!!!
Kdramas have been showing topless male leads for a long time…I don’t get why people are getting shocked now lol..also, Hierarchy was pretty bad and it’s something that’s already been done before with better script and acting
One day people will look back at Hierarchy and say "it was ahead of it's time". I personally didn't enjoy it as it was a typical overflex rich kids and the ending left me disappointed. I hope there's a second season so they can redeem themselves
If korean drama is pushing the U.S agenda. I am going to stop watching, the reason why I love korean drama is because of the none steamy scene and respect.
K Dramas were where I would go to get away from western cinema… I loved the stories, the morals, the lessons and values that made these shows so special… Unfortunately K Dramas are becoming more and more like the western cinema that I was so disappointed in, and was hoping to avoid.
not necessarily if you see old movies they were already like western cinema not much but it was but more specifically in horror movies? but nowadays they just insert random sometimes unwanted scenes in kdrama
I seriously don’t have problem with steamy scenes but if such scenes are not changing or help in building the plot, i don’t see the point of putting such scenes🤧

Looking forward to watching 1-4 mentioned, as 1 and 3 have my favourite actors in as leads.
