BWIA, such a classic airline. And they`re on for so many years now. I remember them from a time they used to fly the 707, DC 9 and later the L-1011 Tristar.

Brings tears to my eyes seeing BWIA go under. Four of the five five pilots featured found homes flying after BWee, one with Emirates two with Etihad and one with Easyjet, one gave up flying. Four are close friends of mine. I also had to find a home after BWee after giving it thirty years.

One of the FEW tings, dese days that make me proud to be a Trinidadian. Always fills me with admiration to see our Livery climbing the departure leg....may our airline last forever.

I flew BWI Boeing 727 from Port of Spain to Kingston via Montego Bay in December 1967. Yeah 1967 so that dates me big time!
    All Brit crew from memory.

Brings back sad memories, seeing old friends. spent the entire time on the 340 when it was in service at BW and like all the guys in the video had to find a new job overseas.

That is the indicated airspeed, which is equal to a groundspeed that is everything between 350-600 knots. Depending on the windconditions, the groundspeed is different but the indicated airspeed is the same :)

As far as i know that is KIAS which is IAS, indicated air speed which is always that low because of the light air density up there. The mach speed will be between 0.70 and 0.84 . The GS, ground speed, will be, as you said, between 420-520 kn depending on wind, temperature, altimeter and, etc… . If you want to learn more look over some aviation forums or wikipedia. I got tricked here too, but it the end I understood how it works. I am just a flightsimmer, "wannabe" pilot. I hope I helped you.

That 280kt IAS needs to be corrected for altitude, temperature, position and compressibility errors, etc. for TAS and then corrected for wind to get the groundspeed. At that altitude they are flying on a mach number for accuracy.

@zaza32 Need to do some research buddy, BWIA didnt have A340s until 2002. until they closed in 2006. Caribbean Airlines, kept TJN for a year, however they sent back the other A340 (JIL) the same yr they began operating.
With regards to Jepp charts expiry dates, alot of plates despite their expiry date, are still in use,
If im not mistaken, it depends on the controlling authority, be it FAA, CAA or whoever is in charge of that specific area to deem a plate unusable or usable after expiry date.

When i fly my jet(A340)When i put throttle to 90% for take off it rabes hard and makes me feel like ohh god i m gonna fly high soon and why not?A340 has 4 engines with gud thrust performance perhaps it's also not so heavy in weight whereas engine has gud performance to make jet climb and cruise good on it's way and never let you stall(if you engage "TOGA") but only risky thing in my A340 is that you have to land carefully cuz A340 has wide wings so we be cautius while landing on crosswinds

The airbus a340-300 is the worst production of all airbuses. It does not even provide thrust as the 777-300,
To be honest, airbus got it wrong. The only good a340 is the a340-600.

Temidayo Ekundayo I flew on a 600 to joburg. and back to London on a 300. it was like going from heaven to hell. 600 is spacious powerful silent and comfortable. 300 is a narrow piece of junk

Airbus is a cruise airplane and Boeing is for power. I fly the the A320 and it is as powerful as the 737 however the B 777 is unsurpassed for power. It is just over rated on power.
