    Ugh, just so talented. I absolutely love these videos in addition to the streams, just so inspiring to watch. Also, with the transparency of some colors, you can look up the opacity of every pigment online. So when I am buying paint, I generally make sure my main colors are opaque.

I'm using raw and burnt sienna, orange, van dyke brown, white.....even yellow light - but it's all a mess! If it's listed somewhere I apologize for missing - just point me in the right direction. :)
    SUPER HELPFUL video!

    • @cassydraws

      Hi Laurie! I don't recall if I listed the colours anywhere for this particular piece, however I used: Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber, Titanium White, Cadmium Yellow, and Cadmium Red. To date this has to be the trickiest colour combination, so I completely understand! Glad you found this video helpful. Cheers! :)

    Did you paint this entirely in one sitting or did you break it up? If you broke it up how did you find motivation to come back to it?

    • @cassydraws
      @cassydraws  5 месяцев назад

      Most of my paintings I will take breaks in-between sessions. Sometimes the breaks are a day or so, others months. I wish I had a good answer for that - other than time, patience, and sometimes the desire to just "get it done" depending on what it is. I've had paintings sit for 6 months before I worked on it again and that happens. I try to just go with my creative flow rather than forcing a painting and becoming burnt out. I hope this helps!

    I just started painting again after a break.

    Keep up the great work

    • @cassydraws
      @cassydraws  2 года назад +1

      Hey Luke!
      Thank-you for the kind words, and feedback. It means a lot! Welcome back to the world of painting, I hope your bulldog painting goes well. The colour of the fox was a combination of: yellow, red, burnt sienna, white, and in some areas adding burnt umber (brown) to the mix. Depending on the level of shadow or light, I would adjust with brown or white. It is the most difficult colour to mix for me personally, so it took a lot of adjusting and farting around. LOL! I hope this helps.

    Cassy I have a question. I am getting ready to begin a pet portrait of a dog who in life had large, pink tumors emerging from the lower lids. I am torn whether or not to include the tumors in the painting, or even a suggestion that they were there as that is how the dog looked in life, but the customer is leaving the decision up to me and doesn't care one way or the other. I'm interested to hear how you would address this issue. Thanks so much!

    • @cassydraws
      @cassydraws  2 года назад

      Hi Robin! :) That certainly is a very tough question, but I am honoured you asked me. Honestly, I love to paint my pet portraits how the client would see their fur-family everyday, scars and bumps included - unless otherwise requested of course. To me that is who they were/are and the most authentic. However, I can understand how this may be traumatic for some folks especially is the pet is deceased and may have been a traumatic passing. I would double check with your client, and show them sketches of with or without and get their approval. I would hate for you to do all of this work, and for them to decide afterwards they wanted/would like it the other way. :) Just my two cents. I hope this helps. Keep me updated!

    • @RobinJayneArtTickles
      @RobinJayneArtTickles 2 года назад

      @@cassydraws I asked the client again and received the same answer..."it's up to you". I opted to paint normal eyes because the painting is small and the tumors were so large they obstructed the features in the eye that give the painting life. I'm justifying this in my head as "there are no tumors in heaven" lol I have finished it and she loves it. Had the anomaly been a scar or bump I definitely would have painted it. I really appreciate your opinion. It was important to me to hear.
