If OT8 were real & able to make you communicate fully then Grant Cardone wouldnt sound like a half chain smoking caveman, half frat boy mutant from Hell.
I think what you're saying is very, very true for many second generation Scientologists. Particularly those who got in very early and even more, particularly for those who never got any decent auditing. My circumstances were entirely different. I got involved when I was 16 years old, but had already gone through quite a bit of misery in my life. I got some wonderful auditing and it helped me out considerably. I'd say it was even miraculous. I read very early on that "nothing is true in Dianetics or Scientology unless it is true for you" and I never let anyone persuade me away from that point of view. All that stuff about the OT levels in between lives area implants et cetera never became real to be and I never bought into it. Best marketing practice is to under promise and over deliver and the organisations got that backwards. I also don't think a clear had been realized in the DMSMH sense of the word. I don't know anyone who is fully exterior with full perception. I don't know anyone who is completely self determined and free from overwhelm at all times. But I do know many people who are much more capable and much more sociable and much more contributive to their environment by virtue of their Scientology involvement than they were before. I've also sold it whole heartedly and enthusiastically for most of my life and still enthusiastically disseminate.

This is the best first person explanation of the blissful cognitive dissonance scientology causes. I went in thinking I would be able to discover how the mind-control worked. Before that happened I didn't care anymore how it worked and was on the statistical hamster wheel. I sold it to anyone who would listen and I was good at that. Took me nearly 20 years after leaving to figure out what happened. Glad you made it out Aaron. Even happier to hear these types of insights. Very helpful indeed. By healing ourselves we heal one another
I was designated as being Clear in a past life. Thus pre-clear, thus somewhat of a golden child and was furthermore tricked into joining staff of OC Org as a PCO and later HCO over a 2 year period from 89-91. I was recruited from being part time staff at the seemingly innocuous Ability Plus school. I was always halfway on the fence and somewhat embarrassed at distributing personality tests to the general public...but i still saluted LRH at morning muster....joined Sea Org...blew during The Key To Life demo in quite dramatic fashion.
You can be good seller even if you dont believe the product. You just need make people think they need it. I have met people like that they could sell running shoes people that dont have feet. Its a skill that most of people dont have. I was doing phone marketing in the past and I met those people in the office. They enjoy it that they have the skill to sell what ever and to who ever.
Super interesting! I'm watching on the heels of watching Kelli Copters interview with Doug Kramer. You already pointed out what I was thinking from the beginning of this, it's gotta be because you were brought into as a child by your mother's choice, not yours. Then it became what you knew, a lifestyle, culture, family and friends network. Kinda like muscle memory. That begs the question, just as you suggested, what about the people that choose it themselves? Doug spoke of Tom Cruise and John Travolta.... how would they ever be able to reach the knowledge that what they chose their whole lives was wrong all along? ...paraphrasing that. I guess in some ways, it's probably only possible by replacing it with truth.
To me, sales is being disingenuously enthusiastic and convincing, in exchange for a paycheck. I don't like selling because my personal values don't allow me to vouch for something that I don't truly believe. In a harsh framing, such sales, which are most sales, might even be considered lies. Now, if people are genuinely recommending something they truly believe in, that's different.
Aaron, Steven Hassan has stressed that even when a person is born into some kind of cult, his/her "authentic self" is in there trying to assert itself. This is besides the fascinating cognitive dissonance AND confirmation bias that you are describing here.
Smaller?! Lucky you didn’t stay im+dedicated longer or you’d be 5ft tall like Little Davey+Tommy Cruise! “Restimulated?!” It’s like “not wanting to sweat out one’s perm?!”
I love the chair you're sitting/leaning on... I saw it for the first time when you did this wonderful interview with Feral Cheral and it made the conversaton, t.m.o., even more wonderful, very relaxed... 🌷🛋🌷
Is there a creator out here that can figure out the setting change YT did that has UN mirrored vertical lives...as of last week all vertical lives are backwards and annoying AF
What a great insight! I can totally see how this could happen. I could also see how someone would think that it would be like saying that they believed something so outlandish for so many years and had wasted so much time. It must be so hard to overcome this kind of thinking and realize it wasn't their fault. I hope some under the radar scientologist see this and relate to what you said and see a glimmer of hope for their future.
You believed in the Golden Carrot that was just out of reach and if you could just get there everything would be perfect. But then that Golden Carrot became tarnished with the truth its all a lie , Heaven at the top near DM is in fact Hell"
Why is everything backwards? The SPTV sign is backwards... What's going on? Is it just me? P.S. I do like the fact that you share some of your thought processes with us - so interesting!
was there ever a training that said "you need to repeat the other person's first name in a conflict discussion"? I heard that so often in these sc videos "matt....mattt...matt....matt....matt..."
David Miscavige did this when Ted Koppel interviewed him on Nightline, "Ted... You have to understand, Ted, what you are saying doesn't make sense... well if really knew, Ted, you would agree that... " I have heard this is a technique used by many PR people to have a manipulative leverage on their target. It presents a false familiarity and a lower of the status of the target. It also harkens back to childhood when parents were saying their names to put them in their place.
Maybe I can compare it to what I experianced as I joined the church not Sci as a true believer. I was all in and was annoyed with the born in pastors kids who were not serious sure they were. Always there mostly both parents worked at church they went to the school and were praised and the darlings.... But they really were the worst it was just a part of what defined them they were not committed to it. To be fair some really were and I found out later that some were physically and mentally abused to perform. So yes folks who have a come to Jesus moment or LRH will be fired up and want to save the world those in it from birth have no reference to it and it's just a concept. Hope this helps
Aretha Franklin had a song "Son of a Preacher Man" also recorded by Dusty Springfield and Janis Joplin. It had randy references to intimate activity. "The only boy who could ever teach me was the son of a preacher man." And when I was a teen, the first bad boy around (smoking, cussing, dirty jokes, naughty stuff with girls) was the son a of preacher man.

If Sea Org is the most dedicated group of Scientology, then why aren't Tom Cruise and his adult children members of this most devoted and important organization?
Scrolling through my subs (& terminated subs) there is no denying you’re so good at giving others the RUclips fever. I wish more of them remembered.

Aaron perhaps doing an interview with you?
@stefantittar I'm always open to discussing my experience in scientology
Thank you for sharing that! Very interesting.
Interesting reflection, Aaron. Thanks for sharing it.
Hi Aaron, it was nice just listening to you talk today. Thank you. 😊
Authenticity sells. It's easier to sell if you really believe in what you're saying and discerning people can see it in the exchange. 😊
Very interesting thread. Thanks. Never been a cult member- very glad you’re free. Scary stuff.
This was great!

Aaron I think your love of the food is the only thing that kept you in the Sea Org as long as you were in. Lol.
