Let's face it, we have all done something weird during recess. (Its the normal thing for kids to do) Here is just some things I did when I was a kid. Hope you enjoy! Oh yeah, and thank you Miasmatic for letting me use your character as a cameo. It was fun.

I remember having absolutely no friends until middle school, so during recess I had to entertain myself. I pretended every kid with a plain white T-shirt was an enemy, and proceeded to spy on them,,

I had this one friend and we did roleplay and we made up all the characters and plot, but usually we didnt finish, but when we did, we fought over who died first.

@@leonfergozi oh it got so much worse than that. Half the time whoever died first was killed by the other, then they killed themselves afterwards. And strangely enough we had a lot of tornados in which nobody got hurt nothing was damaged, and we literally spun in circles until we got too dizzy to keep standing, then called it good

This wasn’t at recess, but one time our art teacher brought chalk and let us draw on the concrete in front of school. One of her rules was “don’t draw anything offensive to old people” so when my friends said they were gonna draw something, we all were like “but that might be offensive to old people!!!”
When I lived in Florida, my elementary school had a huge open area for recess. Once we were all running around and a huge dust devil started forming. It got pretty big and everyone was freaking out cuz we were tiny 2nd graders... we thought we were gonna get blown away. Also, the field would become a lake after storms and I could see beautiful pink spoonbills out there.
One year I caught a praying mantis and named it jerry. I took him to school and became the center of attention. It was awesome.

One time my friends found a glove in the sand so they filled it and stuffed it half into the sand, making it look like there was a body there. They named him Bob. I was completely horrified by that.

one time at recess when we were also digging up worms, we would place them on a rock. And I was lucky enough to see a worm pee…
I was today years old when it finally occurred to me that worms can pee.

For awhile me and a couple friends actually took the phrase “dig to China” too literally...
So yeah, we dug a hole every recess
Hahahaha me and my friends found sharp rocks and dug where the techers couldent see us, and we joked around about "We are going to dig to china!"

I always try this in the Beach or in a Hotel that has sand in it, so every time I go to the beach which would be every 2 years when it’d be in Summer (Not common because the nearest Beach to my city is a Four Hour drive) or I when we are in a Hotel with a pool area that has sand next to it, I’d be (it’s a I’d because I haven’t gone to the beach in a while) where my Mom, Dad, or Cousins be I’d choose a spot and dig there my cousins would help and I’d always get a foot deep in and then I just couldn’t after the sand would be wet and I don’t know I just struggled with the wet sand but then one day when we went to a Hotel with a sand area next to one of the pools (yes one of the pools the place where the pool is in for the Hotel is paradise if you like Water parks because there was a water park outside the Hotel but no it’s not a Seaworld in back of it the water park is part of the Hotel because unless your staying at the Hotel yo can’t get in the Pools and slides) I went to the sandy area I started digging a Hole (Just saying I wouldn’t have started if other kids didn’t do a huge one which was theirs so I started mine then two kids started Helping me one stayed for a long time helpin me do mine and the other which was part of the group that made that huge one came and helped me for a while then him and his sister which wasn’t the other kid helping me made another hole right next to mine but then it was three feet deep and it did something the Huge hole and the other kid’s hole that helped me didn’t do I reached Concrete It is and has been my deepest hole yet. When I was younger I took the “dig to China” literally but when I got older it wasn’t “dig to China” anymore it was more like reach the deepest I could reach.

I don't remember a lot of my elementary school years, but I do remember this one time a kid almost got struck by lightning during recess before. Landed so close to him he was frozen in fear. I remember legit being jealous of him too lmao. Though I was also prone to having such vivid dreams as a kid that I couldn't tell the difference between them and reality, so that could've very well been one of them.
In second grade, my friend and I played ring around the rosie a lot, and we somehow managed to get almost everyone at recess (about 75 kids) and we made a ring around the entire field.
I always stare at the clock.......mostly because I wanted lunch to come 🥐🥧🍫🍩🍪

When I was younger during recess me and my friends would pretend to be mythical creatures like werewolves and fairies and we had our own guild
I did that too but it was with werewolves, vampires and humans all hunting each other
This huge group of people including me would be like wolfs or foxes or something idk. Anyways the “leader” wouldn’t let people in “the pack” so other people would go make their own pack and it all ended in war... it was violent. This little dip stick decided to tell on us for pushing him even tho he was basically doing everything really. We weren’t allowed to play that anymore

This wasn’t at recess or anything, but in grade school the teachers were always strict about how we had to walk and stuff and they would always have us walk in a single file line with our hands behind our back. I used to always imagine myself as a depressed prisoner lmao. Mind you this was in like 2nd or 3rd grade lmao. It would help pass time tho so 🤷♀️

Once during an assembly in my school's gym room I noticed a spider, so I got my teacher's attention. My message was not clear enough. I wanted her to help move it, but all I did was point at it. Five seconds later, I was crying.

Me and my friends played this game called "The Everyone Game" where you could be literally anything as long and it could die and wasnt to op. We loved and cherished that game so much until our friend that made the game left the school. It just wasnt that same and we didnt have as much fun without them so we stopped playing.
During break time ( not recess cause I'm British ) we had like, different armies on two sides of this big field and we used sticks as guns. It was so fun until the teachers banned sticks for some reason.

I know I'm a little late to the party on this one, but hearing you say you and your friends would catch worms brought the memory back.
So back in Elementary School, my friend and I started making up infomercials. The one I remember the most was when we did a take on a Miracle-Grow commercial. We would pluck different plants and shove them into tiny holes, and when the plant would start to unfurl, we would say it was due to the "Miracle-Grow". The catch with all of our little infomercials was that everything had a bad side effect. Miracle-Grow had the rabid worms, with the reference being from Spongebob Squarepants, The Alaskan Bullworm. And those worms would often appear and destroy our "set" when we would try to do other infomercials, either from an accident or sabotage from a member of staff. No, there were never any real worms, it was just something we could never let go of for some reason.

Hell yeah, i also do that, not the smelling part lmao. I loved catching grasshoppers and ladybug, i got scared of the grasshoppers with the spiky legs, but i loved collecting them in plastic bottles before releasing them
Me and some people searched for four leaf clovers. I got quite a few, don’t have them anymore but it was cool. There was also this plastic boarder around the playground that kept the wood chips on the playground and people would walk on it light a tightrope. Some areas were super crooked so that was pretty fun.

During recess in elementary school me and my friends would dig up the grass and dirt for gold and diamonds, then the next year we would see who could get the teacher to believe we were sociopaths... yeah ummmm

What I did during recess is this:
walk to the edge of the cleared out area, far away from everyone, and get this small log to bring it over there, sit on it and then sit alone, depressed, contemplating life.
this is 100% true.
Wow i also do this. I found it really easy to catch stuff under rocks and old logs.
In Kindergarten or Pre-School we would always look at this wall that would have rollypollys on it (pill bugs), and in 5th grade I would sometimes help kids catch lizards (only like 5 people did it but it was fun).
During recess, Me and literally every other kid in my grade played this game called Zombie Infection were one person started as a zombie and to turn us into a zombie they had to catch up to us and pretty much tackle us to the ground
Everyone could have weapons including zombies just to make the game go a little faster

During our recess as kids, we always played hotel for some reason. We had this patch of trees so we'd divide between certain trees the rooms we were gonna have and payed for it with pebbles and stuff. Idk. Besides climbing trees and catching snails.. that's about all I remember us doing.
At recess what me and my friends would do sometimes was find the thickest sticks and bang them on one of the metal poles. Sometimes we would bang so hard, the stick would break and fragments would fly at people. It was a fun time.

My elementary school’s blacktop had these white circles painted on, and a game that my classmates and I used to play involved us standing in the center of one of these circles and just spinning around until we became dizzy. If you exited the circle before we became too dizzy, you lost.
I was kinda lonely at recess, sometimes me and my friends would just chat at the basketball field..
When i was alone, i would find a small stick and play with the dirt and plants that grew in the cracks of the basketball field.
Or i would just collect pebbles into a pile and it was fun.
(I also saw a snake in the like water drain things..it was on a pipe.)

One time I saved a worms life by spitting on it because it was dehydrated and there was no water near by. And everyone else was weirded out. But hey the worm lived

For the monsters and ship game u played I had a similar game called lava tag, it was manhunt (get tagged u join the tagger) but u had to stay on the equipment, meaning 13 10 year old sprinting a climbing round this tiny thing
sometimes I used to pick at the the cracks in the concrete and the black stuff that's also on the concrete fill in the holes
At my school we’re not allowed to run on the play set, which is basically just saying no playing or having fun

My friends and I used to eat honey suckles during recess. The yellow ones always tasted sweeter. Also, when I was in like 1-2 grade, I was obsessed with the show Kickin' It and thought "Hey, if these 14-16 year old kids can learn karate, I bet I, a 7 year old kid, can teach other kids to learn karate!" so once every week, I would go to the corner of the fence and "teach" karate to like 2 or 3 other kids. I thought I was sooooooooo cool.

I have no idea. It was literally standing by a metal fence and awfully kicking air. Most of the time it was just me.
I remember that we would always try to go on the plastic around the wood chips and if you made it you would feel like a king
somtimes if i was bored i will just sit and sit a sit for the entire recess
When I was in kindergarten, there was an *ALIVE* junebug on one of the swings outside...
One of my classmates paid another kid 2 dollars (USD) to eat it.

There is this giant tree close to the middle of my school and me and my friends called it Mother Tree
In fifth grade I would go straight to the fence during recess,look through the small holes along it. And some days i’d find a fat frog I named prince Phillip. I would pick him up,carry him around GENTLY play with him(I’d lay out my hands and he would jump over),and then when it came around 5 minutes before lining up I’d put him back at the fence. He would hop through the holes and I’d run off.
Happiest days of my life(before some random bully who was known for making death threats stepped on him infront of me. I could breathe when I cried)
I remember every time I went out to recess, and we had a “singing battle” and I always sang msm/my singing monsters songs and it was very confusing for everyone else because there were no lyrics except sounds-

My friend used to have cravings for sand and few uneatable things when she was litlle, turns out she had strong iron deficiency all these years and one of the symptoms actually are these cravings.
We would have been friends. I was a strange kid, too. Always finding little treasures and making makeshift bird feeders.
My elementary school had a nature trail (which had an accidentally heart shaped lake in it) right behind it, and the one year volleyball nets were set up for recess. We would do volleyball or badminton or whatever made up game people did when at this section instead of the fully fenced in and frankly amazing playground we had. Well, I had a fascination with the fae and supernatural and spooky stuff as a kid so loved the woods. While everyone was playing I was looking at flowers and chilling and noticed something in the trail. The trail was still on school property so I figured it was okay and took a walk in to inspect the thing. I think it was something carved into a tree. I lost track of time, but heard the physical school bell that signaled the end of recess and walked back out to meet my class to go back in. All the kids were gone, all the staff was freaking out, there was a cop. Apparently, the woods had silenced the teachers calling for me enough that I didn't hear and they thought I had been kidnapped. Apparently, the reason we were not in the front of the school in the very public playground was because neighbour's had noticed a weird guy creeping around the school.
Sooo.... I inadvertently caused quite the panic.

I didn’t really do anything at recess because I didn’t have many friends because I was always very severely bullied... also I was a ball magnet. I was always that one kid who was the one who got hit by the ball, even when I am about half a block away...but when I did play with my siblings or friends in the playground, it gets really weird, fun, and creative really fast.

Oml I used to have a all black cloak and wore it everywhere and once I went to the playground and just started chanting weird random shit and boom I got expelled for witchcraft acctually was playing as a wizard in a kids version of the hobbit and lord of the rings not witchcraft I was a wizard xD
One recess I decided to do a good deed, we would always see dried up worms dead on the sidewalk because they couldn't get back into the ground and assumed all worms just kinda died after it stopped raining, so one recess when it was particularly rainy I got all my friends together and we decided we were going to get as many worms as we could find and dump them in this puddle under a tree so when it stopped raining they wouldn't dry out. And we went hard trying to gather these worms, we filled that entire puddle with worms, unfortunately we didn't realize worms also need air, so when we got back after collecting them all the worms were dead, I hadn't connected the dots though and was just sad because I thought we were too late, not realizing that I unintentionally murdered every worm on the playground
Back in Pre-K I think, all of the kids would run up to me and say, "Hey, there's a lizard!" I was known to be the lizard hunter, and I would almost always catch them. The bites had no effect on me, and every kid respected me for it.

I once buried a seed during recess under the bridge thingy with my friend and said, “We need water!” and then spit on it for the rest on recess. And then get in trouble because the recess aids “couldn’t see us.” I honestly think they just hated us.

Chicken & Nuggets i think if they “couldn’t see us” i doubt anyone else could, and the playground was surrounded by tall fence, and I saw them staring at us while we buried the seed

We had those things you can just sit and spin in. It looked like a tulip. Me and my friends would spin each other till we either tapped out or fell out.
One time during recces when I was in elementary school, I sat on a bench named "The buddy bench" where if someone's sitting there alone you were supposed to invite them to play with you. Well one time I sat there with my friends: Ryan and Carlos, and all three of us were playing Charlie Charlie and asking it stupid yes or no questions. Kids tried telling us it was bad, but they didn't stop us until one kid told on us and we had to stop playing that game.
