Goodbye Xenoblade X Online servers, see you all again in Mira someday ♥ It's truly a shame that this song is only audible during Squad selection, it's such a hidden masterpiece and most people have only heard the first few seconds of it in game
nothing like the awkwardness of Japanese lyricism in an otherwise amazing song. X is full of such pearls, and I recall the tyrant theme as the exponential of it. At least they made some songs in German so we don't have to care about that awkwardness (unless you're German or understand it :D )
Every time I listen to this song now it makes me so sad. This song is gone. I'll never hear it again when I open up Xenoblade X. I didn't appreciate it as much as I should've before it was gone, and now it just hurts. This game means so much to me and I wait for the day it comes back with online on a new console. Please Monolith.
I will never forget the first time I waited long enough on this menu to actually hear the vocals kick in. I had no idea it even had lyrics and just sat there in awe listening to what has since become one of my favorite vocal tracks in any video game. EDIT: I… I didn’t realize this song was gonna get taken down along with Wii U online… If I’d known, I would have booted up the game one last time just to listen to it :(
The lyrics to this song are written beautifully. It's as if they're telling a story. I can practically picture it infront of me, like grainy moving images on a projection screen. I see... I... see... *"With this life, I'm exhausted* *They are frozen, people's eyes* *Kind of close to endless mental slavery* *Always look up to the sky* *Is this what I'm living for?* *How can I spin this world better?"* I see a young woman bearing an exhausted expression. She looks on as even younger people fight an endless war for all eternity. She herself feels trapped, too, unable to escape the lucrative position she finds herself in. Deeply disturbed, she stands on top of a cliff and looks into the distance as rain pours from up above. She does not know what the purpose of her unending existence is in this dying world, and she quietly awaits the day on which she will meet her other self, just as her queen had foreseen. *"Every place I used to live* *All the news we used to hear* *All the things we heard from you* *Are almost making fun of me* *Every day we work so hard* *Every thing will never change"* Now I see the same young woman, bearing a vaguely religious-looking symbol on her neck. She is put into various unfair positions, sometimes wearing beige clothing, sometimes white. On one occasion she is handed a flute in spite of her stellar combat practice results. To pour salt on the wound, she is coupled with the klutziest member of her unit. She puts all her effort into her training, first as a combatant, then as something more. Yet in spite of it all, she can't change her situation or the world. And so she screams. *"Push forward, it's time to make the day yours* *Push forward, it's time to make the day yours* *See, it's not the cards that life deals* *Anyone can alter situations* *Push forward, it's time to make the day yours* *Anyone can alter situations"* On a particular combat assignment, she meets three new people. All of them are deeply disturbed by things they've experienced in the past. This whole time both she, her team and her enemies have done the same thing, fighting for the sake of the world that gave them their life instead of themselves. A fourth person, old and wise, appears to offer them wisdom on how to move on. The man persuades the woman and her new acquaintances to change the world. *"They try to wear me down with what they tell me* *I'm just trying to make moves, see beyond what they're trying to sell"* *Push for it, even if some attempts fail* *Take problems mix 'em up like a cocktail* *It's not the cards that life deals* *Anyone can alter their situations by* *Not sitting around, accepting the* *Abuse and devastation"* Now the woman is standing in the desert, surrounded by suspicious individuals. She listens to her best male friend as he ponders the nature of the world. I receive a slight glimpse into the woman's complicated past. Too many times she has already succumbed to the world. Her fates are blending together. I turn around and see the same woman speaking to a girl sitting on a desk. They are surrounded by people with nothing but cruel intentions. Everyone on the lower level is told to complete various tasks for fear of punishment. However, she and the girl hatch a plan to escape from the mysterious facility. *"All of my life's begun to change you, until the end* *Someone's death means* *An indication of the new world* *They hope won't be the same"* Strangely, I see a man wearing a mask. Despite his fanatic claims, he has only changed for the worse, because of the woman. Now he screams to the heavens, witnessing a display of sheer horror. The young people, too, can be seen crying. Then smiling. This doesn't have to be their world, they realize. And this is only the first step. *"We're kept unheard if we're silent* *Waiting on others to make a sound,* *Leads to walking blind instead of self-reliance* *Eyes on the back of the pack* *It's time to make the day yours* *Complacency never makes an impact* *Believe media controls you if you don't act* *Nothing ventured, nothing gained* *But when we speak, listen, and act,* *That's what we change"* What follows is a chaotic torrent of conflicting ideals. I hear voices, some pleading for the world to remain the same, others begging for it to change. Some take pleasure in going through the motions and sticking to their routine. Others open their eyes and ears and realize how wrong they've been their entire lives. *"There's a chance for me to find my way of life* *Anyway I know some nervous strain of time* *You cheer me, reminds me* *There is a sun rise* *You told me to save me from a hell on earth"* I see the woman breaking down infront of her partner, overwhelmed with her survivor's guilt. She struggles to find meaning in her short life, which was given to her in an unfair exchange. However, she is surrounded by supportive individuals who motivate her to keep going. After a while, she returns to this same location and hears tales of humanity's hubris from her queen. *"All of the world's begun to take me into the sun* *Hiding people getting out from crumbling shelter* *Now the time has come today"* Now I see the woman kneeling on the floor and disappearing into the golden sky. At the same time, I see citizens mobilize their armories to set their plan into motion. Finally, all the pieces are falling into place for the woman and her companions to reclaim the world. *"We're kept unheard if we're silent* *Waiting on others to make a sound,* *Leads to walking blind instead of self-reliance* *Eyes on the back of the pack* *It's time to make the day yours* *Complacency never makes an impact* *Believe media controls you if you don't act* *Nothing ventured, nothing gained* *But when we speak, listen, and act,* *There's nothing that can't change* *All things can change"*
Goodbye to Melancholia :( see you all soon!
Goodbye, Xenoblade Chronicles X servers.
They really should have found a better place to have this song play than the multiplayer/singleplayer menu which only takes 10 seconds to get through
i honestly thought this played at the shops/dealers. i remember watching previews and having that play there.
It plays in a few cutscenes too, though only like 2 or 3
YEAH LOL I remember my first time hearing that drop I was just distracted doing something else while being on that menu. I fell off the couch
I waited for the end of the song every time I played
I think it also plays during one of the last cutscenes during HB's first affinity mission, but that's the only moment that I remember

It’s kinda interesting how this is a random sawano song from 2008, but the lyrics are very on point for xenoblade x
Crazy how we're never gonna hear this song in-game again. I love this song, definitely one of my favorite tracks.

I love this song.
same. underrated.
The entire soundtrack is underrated, since everyone is just jerking off to Xenoblade Chronicles' ost
I actually like this one better, it offers more varierty than the first game's which is literaly "every JRPG soundtrack ever"
This sounds like something Linkin Park and Evanescence would have collaborated on if they were Japanese.
More like P.O.D and Paramore.
Linkin Park has strong Japanese influence btw.
Luke Ryuzaki Well one of them _is_ Japanese to begin with.

The one uploaded by max galactica?
