My son will be 7 and eligible to attend an evaluation for minors. He’s played two years t-ball and one year coach pitch. My understanding is he could do either or another year of coach or tryout for minors. I’ve coached him every year now and he’s done really well. I’m sure you get this question a lot but what’s the wise move here? What are the pros and cons? I think he’d benefit from the challenge.
The kid has to be willing to listen and act on what I’m teaching him/her. I will explain how and why but if no response then no play because he’s been doing it himself his way and that’s what you’re going to get out of them. And might corrupt those who want to learn.
This comment is so right, and actually goes right in line with my video releasing in two weeks - “Top 5 qualities coaches look for in youth baseball players”. One of them is being coachable!
Coaches, let me know one thing you're excited about for your upcoming tryouts. Best of luck to all of you in choosing the best team for you!
We're still in 7u coach pitch but this is great all around advice in general. Thank you.

I am not able to find the video for players from two weeks ago. My son has middle school tryouts soon.
