      Both parties are about the same on foreign policy. They're only different on domestic policy. What people fail to comprehend is the implication: both parties support literal fascist and authoritarian regimes, so neither party is actually opposed to fascism, and that's ALWAYS been the case since fascism first became a distinct idea.
      The only reason Democrats are "better" on domestic policy is because they don't want mass uprisings and do the bare minimum to avoid it while paying lip service to issues (Roe v Wade was a powerful campaign tool that they never had any intention of fulfilling, which they proved every time they had the opportunity), whereas Republicans either do want mass uprisings with the expectation that fascists will win, or they stupidly disbelieve that uprisings will be a problem (they also have issues that they constantly run on and never address when they have the opportunity. The two parties have that in common).
      Democrats are definitely better because they're not DOMESTICALLY fascist, even though they actually ENABLE fascism domestically (they don't actually fight against it. Moderates and liberals don't want to upset the status quo in any meaningful way, so they'll side with fascists over any leftist movement that tries), but obviously the bar is so low that it's astounding people don't abandon them entirely...except that they've been trained to believe that the system we have is the "best we can do" even as they're faced with better approaches internationally (but there are always excuses for why we can't do it that way), so they can't imagine any change that doesn't result in the collapse of civilization as we know it. Or despotism, but we're already well on the road to that destination.

  • @Gk2003m
    @Gk2003m 8 месяцев назад +4

    I’m no big fan of Israel. HOWEVER. In the current conflict, we need to grasp what occurred. Gaza as an entity spent the past many years NOT building an economy, but instead digging miles of tunnels and purchasing stockpiles of weapons of war. Gaza then sent its fighters on a murderous rampage against unarmed people, remorselessly slaughtering a thousand including babies and taking scores of hostages. And Palestinian flags popped up across the world. I don’t know how to interpret those flags any other way than as support for murdering a thousand people. The chants of support for Palestine started right away, many hours before Israeli retaliation began.
    So Gaza and its supporters do not get to pretend to hold anything resembling moral high ground. I share the desire that Israel relent a bit, but in the strictest realpolitik sense I get why the Israelis feel they must continue. From their standpoint, they need to ensure Gaza cannot, any time in the next many decades, commit that kind of atrocity again.

    • @keirfarnum6811
      @keirfarnum6811 8 месяцев назад +18

      How was it supposed to build an economy under the conditions of a blockade imposed by Israel? And those tunnels were largely used for getting goods into Gaza to try to create at least some economy. They weren’t just for military purposes. AND, let’s consider that under military occupation with a blockade happening, the people of Gaza were taking mostly MILITARY action. Firing rockets is not a terrorist act; it’s a MILITARY act. Israel constantly portrays everything the Palestinians do to fight back as terrorist (and they do undertake some terrorist acts, to be fair), but much of what Hamas has been doing can be considered military actions. The majority of Israelis killed on October 7th were military. If Hamas had been engaging in terrorist acts, the majority of Israelis killed would be civilians. And yet Israel is being supported to commit state sponsored terrorism en masse.

    • @Ilovemountains-tb2qb

      40% of the Israelis killed were heavily armed IDF and police. Out of the 1148 total names, 403 were (heavily armed) military personnel, 59 belonged to the police (also armed), and 668 were civilians. ALSO - it is unknown how many Israelis were killed BY THE IDF. Of course Hamas killed Israeli civilians, but how many were killed by the IDF we will never know. What is CERTAIN is that some were killed by Israeli tank and helicopter fire. It's all over the Israeli media.

      It's a shame that you are incapable of understanding why people were waving flags for a cease fire. I think you'll find Israel has murdered 20 times as many civilians as Hamas did on the 7th. There is yet to be any proof of rapes, and no babies were beheaded. You are very wrong to think that Israel continuing to murder civilians will lead to peace. If Israel stopped now or later the damage has been done. The only thing that is happening now is more and more hostages dying, but Netanyahu doesn't care. He's finished once this is over. There will never be peace because of Israels behaviour since the start of the state of Israel. If these are god choose people, I'd like to know what he's chosen them for.

      Students getting upset about thousands being killed. Why would you laugh at them protesting about that. Sad you, if in your real world you don’t have enough humanity to care. I’m British but I know from our history that if we had not got onto the streets women wouldn’t have got the vote, slavery wouldnt have been abolished as early as it was, we have excellent workers rights, 6 weeks paid holiday a year, 6 months maternity leave, I could go on. Young people, students have an innate sense of injustice, a lot of us continue to March, in my 70s I’m still marching. at present it’s for Palestine. In your case I don’t think you have gained wisdom with age. In so called democratic countries we have the right to peacefully protest.

    What about hamas

      The organization that was created in response to previous decades of Israeli ethnics cleansing and abuse?
      What about them. I’m not a big fan of Hamas, but the IDF has just spent the last 4 months proving their point.

      We know about hamas. And they also probably, but maybe by way of propaganda or came into this with an existing bias.

      @@thornil2231 It's a joke. Israeli supporters always reply with "but do you condemn hamas" to every accusation of war crimes or genocide because pro-israeli people know they're the bad guys and want to deflect.

      Can anyone defend Israel without bringing up Hamas or whining about antisemetism? Asking for a friend...
