The fun thing is that every scene from a Grand Prix was shot at the actual GP. Some of the onboard scenes are taken from actual f1 cars are taken from actual f1 footage and then they changed the car with CGI.
There are videos of the actual drivers talking to the media after a Grand Prix and then Brad Pitt walking in there and going to talk to a fake media setup. One driver actually went to those fake media to give an interview before he realized that those were only there for the movie

To put some things clear. Brad did drive the car in some scenes. Its a formula 2 car moddified from mercedes to look like an f1 car.
Some scenes are filmed on track, but the scenes with cars who arent from apex are cgi or however you write that, for example they did go to alpine and replaced one of the tv cams with a movie cam so that it has better quality because f1 needs to stream there onboards, a movie dont. So they replaced the cam and than replacet the alpine car with there apex car with cgi

This movie isn’t based off of a true story. They basically created an entire new team for F1. The budget for this movie is $300 million. They filmed scenes during some of the F1 races including this past weekend at the F1 race at Silverstone. Its confirmed that Brad Pitt was in fact behind the wheel during the racing sequences.
