I love that element of this. I fear for them regarding the hype though. I've never seen anything hyped end up meeting the high expectations. They're also leaving things up to our imaginations
@@shield_maiden_ definitely not leaving the customization vague, but things like school and work seem to be up to our imaginations. Aside from that, it seems like a fully fledged life sim game!

@@shield_maiden_ I honestly don’t have high expectations. I’d take the build tools as they are right now because they already allow for so much cool stuff. I don’t need my paras to live the most exciting lives either, I will enjoy the cozy mood of the game as is. As for the character creator, I don’t really mind if it’s not as good as the Sims, I rarely do create new characters and they don’t have to wear the best outfits or have the most unique face as long as the game allows me to give them personality, which I think Paralives will definitely focus the most on

I’m not sure it’s a real game, I heard was patreon/donation scam. 5 years and still no real gamer play. I hope is real though.
@@jaybee4288 I agree, I'm at a wait and see stance, it's better not to get your hopes up too much, not with an indie game, a lot of the ones on Steam are scams, they do make them, but put out a bit of a game, but NEVER add to it, so you get stuck not being able to move passed a certain point, I have a few like that, they're really nice games, but it's set up to eventually add more to it, but they don't, and so you can't get passed a certain area of the game, because it's not finished! And they never do finish it either! I have one that is like that, and instead of finishing it, they put out a new version of it, the very next year!
But I bought both at the same time, not knowing they neither one had been finished, and they never were either! Since when I bought them it had already been 2 years since the 2nd one came out! And I really loved those games, they're a demolition and building games, like House Flipper, but you actually play in the world, driving to places and working on different projects, the last one even made it where you can play as a woman, not just a man!
So because them and others who were a lot worse, I'm not going to let myself get anymore excited about this game! I mean when I saw this, with it just having the house, for 46 seconds, I thought this is just to get more people to join their Patreon, and then it ends with them asking for us to join their Patreon! So yeah I'm kind of over it now!
@@jaybee4288 yeah me too, and I don't think we should get our hopes up too much.... it's a game with a small development team and a lot of high expectations, it does look nice, and I don't think they would put this much work into a scam, but we've yet to see much real gameplay, as in how paras interact with eachother, and what they can do around the house and around town. We also don't know what the price will be when it's released. But the dev team has confirmed things like weather and pets, and that it won't be DLC. Which gives me a lot of hope. But idk, we'll wait til it's released, and we'll see what gets done.

coming away from what other games are doing trending into a more "realistic" vs stylistic art style for a simulation game; paralives folds away from the uncanny valley. On it's own it might seem underdeveloped but when you compare it to other games it makes way more sense for this genre and fits much better.
I think it has cozy game vibes, no hard contours etc. For me it's also calming😊

I'm not a fan of the artstyle, but what I'm a BIG fan of is how properly-sized everything is. In The Sims 4 you have a bunch of stuff that's the wrong size or it looks like it's from a mobile game. Here, objects actually look like they were made to be used by a person. Still, if I had to pick between the two artstyles I'd definitely pick Paralives' over TS4's artstyle. Paralives seems like it has some neat PBR on top of the cartoony stuff, which is miles better than how everything looks matte and flat in TS4.
I love the graphics too. People hate on Sims 4 graphics for being too cartoonish but let's be real- ts4 i cartoonish but Paralives' graphics are even more cartoonish but gets praised lol Love both though
I love the "square-ish" texture of flowers: it may be not very realistic, but the "old game" vibe it gives is totally a plus for me! ❤️

I'm not a fan, but also not _not_ a fan, although I can see how lower poly(?), simpler flowers and stuff would really help the game's performance, and at this point I will definitely take this if I can play without game-breaking lags
Well it also looks like that because the game isn't finished yet ! However even with these graphics it already looks wonderful
I think it clashes too much with the rest of the game, usually you want all models to have a similar amount of detail so everything fits together nicely and here the roses look very low-poly compared to everything else... But that's a tiny detail :-) I only hope the gameplay is being worked on just as much as the visuals so we don't end up with another building sim like TS4.
How is no one talking about the lovely music?!?! 😂 I just love the piano, it's got such a chill, yet happy vibe. I'm thinking a day early in the summer, in the morning 🥰

@@mela6885 I disagree, TS4 looked atrocious from the start with the mobile game look. Plus if we're going by that logic, can't paralives have custom content and reshade too? lol

they put more effort in one garden, than EA in a whole world in their game

I believe there is still a lot of work to do, better if they dont compromise a release date so they take all the time needed without that unwanted preassure of a release date. Lets let them be and do their best

My goodness! Everything here just gives me HAPPINESS. The house style, the trees moving in the wind, that green retro bicycle, the garden chairs etc! AND THE MUSIC!!!

The progress since 'House Building Gameplay' a year ago. Where that video was a proof of concept, with a house that didn't really look like a house. Here it's showing off all the accomplishments made during development so far, an actual house with lots of character!

there are so many little details i'm obsessed with. the fact that there's a recycling bin alone, the little electric box outside?? there's a break in the foliage that even makes me wonder if they set it up to be able to pathfind to because it might be functional? the little UNDER ROOF metal detail piece?? a RAIN BARREL?? im losing it

it’s so amazing that we get to watch the progression of this game in real time. you can really tell the dedication and hard work that you’ve all put in to this masterpiece, and i honestly get that same warm feeling that sims 2 brought when i see how this game is coming along. you guys are making history, and there’s no doubt this game will reach a legendary status of its own. spectacular work you guys 👏🏼
Yes! I remember how Maxis was quite open with Sims 2 development and this gives that same feel of being on their forum and talking to the devs about the game and what was coming and all that. I miss that, but Paralives is really bringing that feeling back. I'm actually excited about the game! And that's the biggest thing.

This is so pretty. The change in artstyle is refreshing even if it’s not my cup of tea. It’s like drinking a nice cold juice when craving a cold drink instead. I really can’t complain because it’s gets the job done and very well! The building and lifestyle in this game is something I really want at the end of the day and I’m just glad it’s coming soon!!

The art style isn’t my preference buuuuuut it’s not a deal breaker at all because the art is still well done and hopefully, easier for them to work with. There can always be skins and mods that can be added later but nothing can replace good game design and game play!

Honestly felt like I was watching one of those architecture videos instead of a gaming video - it looks truly lovely! I especially appreciated the smoke coming from the chimney - that was well done!

The furniture reminds me of stuff I’d see in animal crossing (with the new update anyways) and I’m so here for it. I always feel like games lack decor and furniture that I’d actually use as opposed to CC but I’m loving everything I see with Paralives!!

I love it, so cute and cozy ! I’d be curious to see if in the future you will think about more diversity with international architectural styles and international urbanisms styles and something less usa centered like the sims (apart specific packs or add-on). Just saying, we are many players from all around the world playing and liking the sims but sometimes, it will be good to have opportunities to build a neighbourhood not so typical american (stereotypical ?)with those suburban green gardens on the front and the white square sidewalks. This would be a major asset to your game for the future and something that would differentiate Paralives from The Sims. 😉

One thing I would love to see later on, maybe as an expansion pack is like a historical pack where you can choose from maybe 3 different eras (Tudor, Victorian, etc) and be transported to a separate world where everything is aesthetically in that style ( build mode, items and clothes, the jobs and the skills)

Espero con ansias a Paralives. Me encanta, y me gustó el detalle de la vereda, es muy diferente. Y el hecho de que está al lado de otra casa que se vió ahí, el muro que los separa, se ve tan real. Todo el terreno se ve tan realista, los detalles que se vieron me encantaron. Solo voy a rogar que mi computadora pueda hacer correr el juego, porque sino me muero de la tristeza jjajajaja Paralives, I love yoouuuuuu

I've already seen this on patreon but I nearly cried AGAIN at how beautiful this is. I'm so freaking excited. Highly recommend supporting them on patreon if you have the spare cash, they are super good at listening to what we want with polls and such, and it's so interesting to see the behind-the-scenes of making a game. Aww this is so cute! I love all the plants and especially the ivy crawling up the house! I'm also really happy to see a recycling bin in addition to a regular garbage one! Recycling is super important.
I'm also noticing the spandril? Whatever the decorate ornament thingy is called that is in the peak of the roof! And the latticed wall at the side of the porch! Definitely gives the house an older feel.
Can we please see how personality and relationships work? More important to me than visuals. Sims 4 is basically only a dollhouse now id like to see deep gameplay
