“My studio in the Sangre de Cristo mountains has wrap-around windows staring at three mountains ranges and the city lights of Santa Fe below,” continues Don. “Your environment affects what you write. I’m not staring at a black soundproof wall, I’m looking out ten windows where I can see Sandia, Ortiz and Jemez mountains, looking at the sunset every day, purple, yellow and pink, and it affects you… very inspiring.”

You can feel that heat off the Sunset Strip and see that hair in the wind as Dokken bring their timeless convertible Ferrari rock ‘n’ roll power to the table with Heaven Comes Down, an unapologetic celebration of everything Dokken do best. You want to rock? Sink your teeth into ‘Fugitive’, which rides some shimmering guitar work courtesy of 20+ year member Jon Levin, and if you want ballads, head on over to ‘I’ll Never Give Up’, hanging on that Coliseum chorus, Levin laying down a landmark solo. The pattern of Heaven Comes Down never falters in delivering the goods on both sides of the fence. ‘Just Like A Rose’ brings the Pacific Coast Highway to desert plains with its smooth, effortlessly-driven gears, and ‘Saving Grace’ carries a mystical malevolence. A dear friend of mine passed away from cancer last December. He and I talked about Dokken often and I know he would have liked the new music. Rest in peace James.

I really feel you in your loss. I too had a life long friend of more than 24 years pass suddenly in 2011.
He was into dio alot. I was the one who introduced him to dokken - as I was the most vocal dokken advocate in our circle of friends.
I gave him some tapes to get hom started on his discovery of dokken not much was said to me about them after....it wasn't until after his passing that I learned he had a deep love of their music.
I went to my first and second dokken shows earlier this year with another buddy and I couldn't stop thinking of my friend Jerry that night.
I wish we could have shared that....now I'm going to my 3rd and 4 th shows in November..
I'm sure Jerry would love this new music as well as your friend.
I guess they made it over the mountain before either of us... I hope they'll greet us both when we get there.
I hope dokken music is something we can continue to share over that mountain.
R.I.P and may the two of our friends rock forever in paradise.

I can remember my dad playing the Under Lock And Key cassette when I was a kid in the early 90’s. Now I’m playing brand new songs with my newborn. 3 generations get to share in some great music…. Thanks Don ❤

Good chorus. He's right. The mountain is life. You have to climb it. It's not easy, but you can do it. It's true, some fall down and never get to climb it, but such is life. Make the most of it and work towards that serenity on the other side.
Love you guys. Don I hear the pain of the journey in your voice, a pain that echoes so well in my own. But I also hear the strength. Dokken has gotten me through some tough times and hearing your music helps me know other people have been there and are finishing their own journey, and I have to find the strength to finish my mine. May God the Father and Lord Jesus Christ bless all of you and thank you for what you do.

I have been a DOKKEN fan since "Breaking the Chains"!!! I have been a singer/guitar player since I was 15. I am now 59. Getting older I understand the problems that singers face as they age. Not to mention other circumstances that make it hard to perform as you once could. In my late teens and early 20's I could sing high like Don, Steve Perry, Sebastian Bach, etc.... I had always been in cover bands and it was easy until I approached my mid 40's. Then things got difficult!!!! I could still do it, but after a show the recovery time was much extended!!! It got harder and harder to do. When the last band I was in had to tune down to make up for my lack of range, I decided to quit performing. It was the hardest thing I've ever had to do in my life!!!!! But I couldn't continue knowing I was sub par. I listened to recordings of myself and was horrified!!!!! But that being said, I just wanted to give a musicians opinion on how difficult performing can be as we age. Don't get me wrong I am not beating up on Don. He's got bigger balls to continue to perform even though he knows he's not at his best. But I LOVE the new album and he is still writing GREAT songs and he is a hell of an engineer and producer. I will always be a DOKKEN fan!!!!! I just hope he continues to write awesome songs and continue to be in the music world and utilize his god given talents!!!

I was watching Headbangers Ball in the early 90’s and they played Dream Warriors ever since then I have always kept coming back to Dokken there is something magical about them.

Dokken's "lower vocal range" is because he can't hit the high notes anymore!! His voice is not at all like it used to be!! His voice is shot!! He should retire, and this is coming from a huge Dokken fan!! To me Dokken will always be Don, George, Jeff, and Wild Mick!!

If he still enjoys it and can work around the ‘high notes’ than good for him. I’m a musician and I’m not ‘retiring’ because of something like that. That’s ridiculous.

It's pretty cool that Don is such a great musician that he was able to adjust to the constraints of his vocal range yet still maintain the style and feeling of his band. Great tone and he still sounds like Don Dokken.

Dokken was one of my favorite Bands in the 80s and I still listen to them today. Something about Don's voice and the Dokken Sound is something you want to listen to over and over again. The New band with Levin on Guitar sounds really Awesome!

Overall, I'd like to hear Don's vocals more up front in the mix. I've listened many, many times as it is my favorite song so far out of the 3--Fugitive, Gypsy.... My tops so far of these 3 are: Over The Mountain, Fugitive and Gypsy. I have an animal rescue here and no funds coming in so I cannot afford to the cool stuff. Not even anything good to eat for me. It's all for the animals. They didn't ask to be here. I'm here to help and do clean up for animals with people problems. Still ROKKEN WITH DOKKEN! Can't wait to hear the rest of the album. It was cool for me this year that Don released this album 2 days before my 60th Birthday. I had no money, did not go out to celebrate and was so BUMMED out. The ONLY thing getting me by was some DOKKEN insights to life and encouragement to keep on keeping on! I'm a Messianic Believer so the Buddhist thing was not for me, but overall, it's the message that is the MOST important thing! KEEP SINGING DON! LOVE YOU, LOVE MICK. LOVE JEFF> LOVE GEORGE! Man, it is great to hear a song that sounds different from other Hard Rock/Metal songs these days. Not trying to rag on them but finally, a hard rock song that does not have that blast double-beat and breathes, IMHO. Just my opinion, I hope I don't offend anyone. I am an older guy.

I agree. The songs I have heard so far that have been up on RUclips/Spotify have been very good so far. Just a good hard rock record. Not trying to reinvent the wheel or be too experimental (Shadowlife). It just a good Dokken listen and that is all we really want.
My brother turned me onto Dokken!! We attended a concert and the Newport in Columbus. He now fights to live with ALS. Thank you Dokken for making music that brought my brother and I together to celebrate.
