    #dokken #fugitive #heavencomesdown
An unapologetic celebration of everything Dokken do best, yet now through a wiser and richer lens, Heaven Comes Down, the 13th studio album from the legendary American rockers, will be released on October 27, 2023 (Silver Lining Music).
“The long anticipated new Dokken album, ‘Heaven Comes Down’, is finally done and the first single is titled ‘Fugitive’!” declares Don Dokken. “The inspiration for the lyrics came from what seems to me to be an uncertain world these days. It’s an up-tempo Rokker as are many on the album. I don't know what the future holds for our world, so I decided to take a step back and watch it all unfold… Yes, I guess I've become like many these days a fugitive from life. Hence the title!”
“The song rocks and the lyrics are self-explanatory,” continues Don, “like many songs I've written, it came to me late at night. Inspiration and pure stream of consciousness have always been the best formula for me when composing. It has that classic Dokken sound… A great song to blast when driving down the highway.”
Video directed by Chris Eyre (Dark Winds, Smoke Signals) at Meow Wolf in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Video by Tom Strickfaden.
You want to rock? Sink your teeth into ‘Fugitive’, which rides some shimmering guitar work courtesy of 20+ year member Jon Levin, and if you want ballads, head on over to ‘I’ll Never Give Up’, hanging on that Coliseum chorus, Levin laying down a landmark solo. The pattern of Heaven Comes Down never falters in delivering the goods on both sides of the fence. ‘Just Like A Rose’ brings the Pacific Coast Highway to desert plains with its smooth, effortlessly-driven gears, and ‘Saving Grace’ carries a mystical malevolence. But ‘Santa Fe’ is perhaps the most revealing with Don Dokken opening up with what amounts to a ‘life-moment biography’: a spartan acoustic arrangement allowing the rich yet road-driven vocals to frame what might well prove to be the defining moment of Dokken’s career.
Mixed by Kevin Shirley (Aerosmith, Iron Maiden, Joe Bonamassa) and produced by Bill Palmer and Don Dokken, fans will love it, neutrals will be wonderfully surprised by some of the ingredients within Heaven Comes Down. Heaven Comes Down will be released on CD Digipak, 12” Vinyl Album in Black and colour variants, digital formats and special D2C products and bundles. Available to pre-order from August 8th 2023 here: lnk.to/DokkenH...

I worked there in the early '90s. 710 was a Recording and Practice Studio, I was the Manager/Engineer, I set up gear, repaired gear, did maintenance on equipment, tuned Don's guitars, booked the rehearsal space, Wine gopher, etc. The best part of the gig was who would show up there. Of course all the original members of Dokken, Mick Brown, Jeff Pilson, and even George Lynch. It was the first time Don and George had been in the same room together since the split. Dio (RIP) showed up one day and hung out with Don. The guys from Great White had the space right across the parking lot from 710, they would stop over when they were in town. George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic dropped in with the band to lay down a track on their way to the UK. A few others were Mother Love Bone used the rehearsal side during their first Album. Robin Thicke tracked his Demo there with Don's help he went on to get signed. The who's who of the South Bay rock crowd made their way in to hang out. I have great memories of my time there, hanging out with the original band was a once-in-a-lifetime experience and there was way too much to put it all here.

I've never understood how some bands look back with disdain for 80's melodic rock...like there is something wronh with it ?!?! I NEVER tire of this sound , and judging by how many young people i see in their cars rocking 80's hair metal id say that history will prove it is some of the MOST LOVED and best selling music of all time. Hats off to Don for staying true to his roots and the sound that we Dokken fans LOVE !!!! This songs proves Don can still write hits and still is doing what he loves in spite of some health and age challenges - thanks to Dokken - and i will be buying this when it's released on CD - and I'll keep rokken with Dokken !!!!!

Yeah, I never understood people who trash talk 80s rock/metal. Even during the 90s, although there were some great bands, I thought the general scene was too pretentious and lacked the fun, playfulness of 80s music (and 80s fashion). People teased me for listening to 80s music instead of "The Current Thing," but history is in the process of vindicating bands like Dokken.

@@Thirdgen83 Believe me, I was already *painfully* aware of that! I've skimmed through a few modern Dokken concerts online. Don barely has a "studio voice" on this song. That's why I'm excited for the new album. I can actually *hear* what he's saying! 😆

Don sounds the same, but without the vocal strength he once had. Then there's a singer like Geoff Tate who still has the power, but doesn't quite sound like the same guy. Time gets us all in some way.

I got tired of people saying that he was done , but I would tell them to suck it!

That dreamlike quality is still there! I am younger than dokkens most succesful albums, so their music has always been on the radio and was a favorite long before i learned any english. But this one catches me just as much with the lyrics!!! 🤩

What a great surprise with the new song and upcoming album. Back in the day (middle school) I was a huge fan of the band. For all the Dokken songs that led to great times/memories thanks. I genuinely hope that Don is happy and healthy. Stay safe everyone wish you and those close to you nothing but the best.

Oddly enough this is pretty good. I’ll be buying the record to support one of the bands I loved as a junior high school delinquent maniac. Crazy close to 40 years later I’m still listening and waiting to buy the new record. It’s called being a lifer.

Normally when the 80’s artists release new material it isn’t hardly worth the RUclips click but this is actually really good and it sounds like it could’ve came from back then! I’m impressed!
