If anyone is struggling on this boss, str build w a gugs + giant hunt spam. Just high damage and poise breaks and he can barely attack you don't even have to be perfect. I remember the first time I fought him w an int build it took me like 2 hours to beat, but it most recently only took me two tries.
Don't mind me, just going to timestamp all the hardest attacks to dodge for research purposes. Phase two begins at 1:00 Air attack 1:39 Meteor attack 3:00

Do you find it consistently easy to dodge his double slash into scissor combo? I find I always get clipped by the second swing. Any tips? Or is it just reaction speed?
Tbh I think that combo needs fixing it’s the only thing that consistently hits me even if I see it coming, the only time I’ve dodged all three hits is on complete accident, although I suppose I never tried using a light roll like this guy so that might help
The only "consistent" tip ive found is to dodge the first slash toward his right arm to outrack the second slash by recovering behind him, the problem is that if you're not already very close to him the second slash is a guaranteed roll catch. 2:06 I don't know if he got saved from the extra s or the hitbox somewhat forgave him but i've been hit by being further away than this behind the boss multiple time 3:20 If the boss decided to use that move right here it might have been gg for our no hitter This move is plain bullshit and i'm sure it have not been playtested 100% not only that it's guaranteed roll catch but it comes out so fast and he can does it whenever the fuck he want, you have to expect it so this is extremely threatening and will make you do mistakes.

@@DisMighty I honestly think this boss is just bullshit. Even if I dodged all his combo and decide to heal, there is a chance he can hit me which does not happen in Messmer fight. And many of his moves just either stay in air too long or move too far that his poise simply resets.

Just out of curiosity, have you figured out any good ways to dodge the "clone" attacks in P2 without Bloodhound's Step? Preferably with mid roll as well. Specifically the one after he throws gravity rocks, and the overhead slam one I could never find a consistent way to avoid, just a way to try to minimize damage that worked maybe 75% of the time. I just was curious if anyone smarter than me had figured out something.

I was at max scadu blessing level I went with the windy tear to have as many s as possible, but a sensible alternative would be any stat boosting tear that best suits your build
@adreamingwolf the way you dodge it is to sprint backwards during the meteor attack then for the slams just keep walking to the right and roll twice for the aoe
You should show loadout and buffs, with this level of skill it would be fun to emulate and try but it’s hard when nobody knows what you’re using. What stats, what talismans etc.
What I honestly dislike about this fight is, that it’s not a fight. I mean with Gael you evade and hit, and hit and evade and so on. Not 30 seconds where you yourself, don’t attack at all. Here you evade, evade, evade, evade, evade, hit, evade, evade, evade. If I want to run, I grab shoes and go outside. It’s to much here.
Man I'm so glad that I'm going through the dlc with poking colossal sword build bc I swear this dlc does not give any room to different builds beyond two or three, it is still hard as f@ck tho

I'm at NG+7 and scadutree lv20 dealing like 10k with 1 attack applying frost, and his health bar barely drops (maybe 12% ish).

Technically not magic because it’s an ash of war. While it sort of is magic, it sort of isn’t either because you don’t need a staff or seal to use it.
