The Awkward Fisherman Machine - Kinetic sculpture - Flying pendulum escapement - Table-top mobile

A table-top mobile of a fisherman, repeatedly throwing the line towards a tree. Driven by a sinking weight, it keeps moving for several minutes.

The mechanics resemble a flying pendulum escapement (Ignatz Flying pendulum clock).
Very simple mechanics, easy to build. The required parts are shown in the video.

I really like this. It's more whimsical than just swinging a ball around a pole. I just might have to tinker one of these together.

Thanks for this. I've started making a weight driven flying ball thing and made a tower to support the swinging arm. Your angled fishing rod is a much nicer idea, I think I'll use that approach instead.
