  • Want a formula to create rock bass riffs with ease? Well, there isn't one but if there was, it would look something like this:
    Cool Technique (slap, rock fingerstyle, articulations) + Scale (maybe an E Phrygian for dark vibes) = Tempo + Repeating Rhythm = AMAZING ROCK RIFF \m/

    As I'm sure you know,, lydian dominant also works well if you want to get (slightly) out of the dorian/myxolydian/minor pentatonic box for rock and funk.

    Great lesson Dan! Nice sliding and attacking the strings too. The G Dorian mode sounds good. Also, the way you used the plectrum at 16:40 reminded me of the riff played by Jimi Hendrix on the song "Are You Experienced".

      @@OnlineBassCourses I have been looking for a music theory course that explains music theory in the right steps. To make sense of it ( not looking for a course that jump all around theory randomly) I do understand basic theory. My main goal is to have the knowledge to know where I am going on the fret board and where I am heading in any key. I do understand there is many layers to music theory that over lap each other. I only want to learn it in the right progressive steps that it makes sense and you can connect the dots.

    Hey Dan, do you find the voicing changes as you go up on the neck? I noticed that you were playing on the octave on the string below a lot.

    • @OnlineBassCourses
      @OnlineBassCourses  2 года назад

      By voicing do you mean tone? There are definitely some parts of various bass necks that sound better (to my ears) and that sometimes changes from bass too bass…

    with the flat 5, could i go up to the next flat 5 and still be in key?
    edit: i realized i can answer this. my question really revolves around the pentatonic scale, the specific mood (dark, etc), and key, and i believe i am asking can i change the progression and still be in key. your lesson addressed that. thank you.
    would you break down sweet child o mine? i have the pieces acording to my rock bible, but putting it together is hard. itmism5 pages long. 5 sections of fills. the intro, basic beat, solo,
