Could tell he was tough as shit under his nice facade. LOL. Stories he told me about being a SEAL in Vietnam were pretty crazy. Ended up getting attacked while they were on one of their boats going up a river. Proper firefight from Vietkong soldiers on the river bank from what he told me. Shrapnel injury and ultimately medically retired him. His name is on the display at the Navy SEAL Museum in Ft. Pierce that lists operators. But things are different nowadays. red carried hatchets, blue was known for skinning more than necessary even though you were supposed to for ID, gold was known to practice hand to hand combat 1v1 vs captured targets who looked challenging and were meant to be killed anyways. AFAIK canoeing was a broad issue. thats about it, black was known for something as well but I forget.
What he describes is pretty much what I thought; these guys are highly self-sufficient but team oriented, flexible, self-motivated, self-starters, goal oriented and I'm sure no patience for bureacracy. Results count.
Interesting interview. Having served in the SOF community (Army), I was required to sign a NDF, as I'm sure this gentleman was once he was picked for ST6. I don't know his backstory and whether he faced backlash for his book from ST6 or legal action from the DOD, but most respected the NDF. One interesting thing though, he said he was "picked" for ST6. Knew many a ST6 member and yes, they were selected by their peers. In comparison, units such as Delta require everyone to complete a multi-stage selection program followed by a grueling training program, after which if successful, they are assigned to a Squadron and told "selection is a never ending process". Admire the Seals for what they do and have accomplished, but if you study the two (ST6 and Delta) they are cut from different cloths.
If you read his book and other peoples books you will get a little more info than he goes into here. I think they mention Green Team is a long process with all the stuff you are mentioning. Panel interviews, psych evals, Crazy PT test, Skydiving, CQB non stop, explosive stuff. Stressful as f*** according to all the guys that have talked about it. I think DJ Shipley talks about that a bit with Shawn Ryan. Very anti-climactic when you are notified if you have been selected and assigned a squadron. Then just get to work kinda deal. Thanks for your service man! My brother did 20 in the Navy. Worked on F-14's, then Hornets, then Super Hornets at Oceana, then Blackhawks near Norfolk.
Doesn't seem too nervous to me. Even if he is, though, he's allowed to be, and it doesn't necessarily mean he's making shit up - it could just be he's not used to being interviewed, he doesn't like cameras, or maybe he has PTSD.
I listened somewhere I think it was shipley who said around 120 push ups straight, 150 sit-ups straight, then 30 pull ups straight or something like that. And of course I would imagine runnung

One hit Wonder here. 'Clunker. Hay Big Guy. When the VA calls Dam Neck, can you toss me a bone? 🤔👍🔱😎 Hatch, Sir
During the Viet Nam War SF was taking volunteers, if you had the balls to step forward they would check you out - IN A LIVE FIRE MISSION - MACV SOG - bad asses step up, all this running 5 min miles and doing 20 pull ups goes out the window when a dude starts whacking and stacking the bodies
How long is the. Contract for seals
Initial contract is 6 years
if your watching this you'v already NOT got what it takes
Curious if anyone caught what he said you need on your rifle. He said something like "ELTEC and a laser". Is that a sight manufacturer?
EOTECH
Can you carry me when I get shot in my body armor 😅I think so mr. Seal
Robert just told that Navy Seal that he was going to kill him. In case you all forgot, Robert isn't a navy seal anymore.
What?able to send link?
Wow súper dude there!
Don't forget to apply for SSDI or SSI woth the social security administration on top of your VA (veterans affairs compenstaion) percentage. BTW and extra $200 for ED; they can't test for it.
What happened to the "silent professional"?
That went away in 2001 I think. I had a mentor/teacher in high school who was UDT/Seal Team 1 in the Vietnam era. Would talk to me about it some bc I was interested. Awesome guy. I'm glad we get to hear about these missions and the heroic shit most of these guys have done for their teammates and our country!
i know a retired devgru guy i never ask him much but hes hilarious
Sounds like the opposite of Chris Beck said
I f****** love you guys all every Navy SEAL every military. I'm wondering if you guys a 100%. I just happened to get in trouble at a young age like a idiot, thanks to I really really traumatic abusive childhood from birth of abandonment being dropped on my grandparents doorstep to I don't even want to go there but anyway had I not gotten in trouble and gotten a felony at the age of 17 years old and had I had people around me that no I could have done the pardon to get into the military then I would have done it but it was too late by that point I was pretty f***** up in the head by that point now but aside from all the mental health s*** I could have been a steal I hate to I'm sorry I'm just I'm tough as Nails I've never lost the street fight or a bar fight and I've been in a lot of bar fights I'm just tough as Nails 6'4 240 lb no fat really except for now I'm 49 years old I'm getting a beer got but I'm not necessarily cut either I'm just thick but not too thick because I'm tall and I grew up on a dairy farm and I'm very strong naturally just gifted in every way when it comes to anything I can do anything I don't know how to say it I'm just that guy I just took the wrong f****** road man and it really pisses me off thanks for letting me vent don't give me s*** people thanks appreciate it
I know what it's like to regret life choices. With my childhood I felt I didn't have a chance at a "normal" life. Was full of regret, and resentments. Drinking, drugging very self destructive. I'm in AA for 2.5years and it's unbelievable! It's giving me a life of freedom! Real freedom! I'm close to God and forever grateful! Just wanted you to know you're not alone in those feelings you were sharing. God bless you!
Awesome!
“Humor”, is how the “pressure” is released in these teams! ! ! Laughing, is excellent medicine! ! ! But, it needs to be continual, these
“MEN” are jacked WAY TO HIGH! ! ! Look at & Listen to how Rob talks, he’s jacked! ! !
Mad respect to these dudes....
however, why is it that SEALS, talk about missions, training, hear, etc, yet the Delta guys are like "..."
Because they aren’t even close to being on the same level. Seals join the unit to better themselves
Cag is Sparta
I've listened to plenty of Delta guys on plenty of podcasts discuss missions in detail.
RED or Gold, who carried the Hatchets for scalping,
Think that was blue actually.
red carried hatchets, blue was known for skinning more than necessary even though you were supposed to for ID, gold was known to practice hand to hand combat 1v1 vs captured targets who looked challenging and were meant to be killed anyways.
Imagine how many more people would be this elite if DEVGRU operators got paid even like college athletes
Oh look it’s “I killed bin Laden”
You look Good Homie..you remember me? Hammer time
The workforce today could use A LOT more of that last bit. Less "are you fucking dumb?" More "here do it this way."
He never killed Osama.
Your name sums you up good
Where you there? 🤔
Most of the entire team happened to die on a freak helo crash?
@@weaverjoshuab no SEAL died on operation Neptune Spear
OBL’s death isn’t the first time I believed a CIA story…..
I miss the SOF big boy rules/mentality.
I Wished That This Was My Military Service! SEAL TEAM 6 Turned Delta Force!
2nd Deck life sounds proffesional as fuck. WHO WOULDN'T want to come to work every day when you're treated so well.
Do you can find all of you friends.
Thank goodness.
Love you
Test you're extreme limites.
U got red, not me
You see what he was a leader. Fanfuckingtastic.
wow the incredible amount of ads that youtube is making us watch
At what point does he start talking about his medals and how that gives him the proper opinion of the 2nd amendment?
Everybody got a right to their own opinion. We have something in this country called freedom of speech!
he doesnt, watch the interview hes actually incredibly humble
He seems fuking nervous. Like he's making it up or should I be saying this.
Doesn't seem too nervous to me. Even if he is, though, he's allowed to be, and it doesn't necessarily mean he's making shit up - it could just be he's not used to being interviewed, he doesn't like cameras, or maybe he has PTSD.
He’s the opposite of nerves, he’s being stern in his talk. You can see the leader coming out of him.
Well obviously he isnt so your body language reading is crap
Fucking American hero 💪thank you for your service. May God bless America 🇺🇸
You tell them Rob. 🔫
anyone know the fitness test of seal team 6 ?
Be able to do everything ... a lot.
You are selected by a panel of you're senior SEAL team 6 (Devgru) peers after rigorous screening.
take all the normal navy seal team tests and multiply them by 2
Read "Fearless" about Adam Brown, they talk about it
I listened somewhere I think it was shipley who said around 120 push ups straight, 150 sit-ups straight, then 30 pull ups straight or something like that. And of course I would imagine runnung
