The postal union is disgusting for going on strike before Christmas. Yes, it gives them more leverage but they are impacting small Canadian businesses in such a horrible way. If they had any heart they would have waited until January.
I'm so unbelievably mad that they're literally holding our packages hostage. Now I gotta fight the sender for a refund because I'm straight up not waiting weeks to get my package. It's not like I was ever given the opportunity to use a different shipping company, whoever shipped my package is a dumbarse for even using CP right now. I'm mad at my seller and CP, they're both to blame.
There was no choice because the Corporation was going to change the terms of employment. The minute the Corporation did that, it forced the Union to strike. Workers can not work without any contract. It's not safe, especially considering that some supervisors would have abused their power and harassed workers.
In the United States, postal employees do not have the right to strike, as they are government workers and deemed to provide a service essential to the economic wellbeing of the country. This needs to happen here, this specific strike also needs to be dealt with in the same way that Ronald Reagan dealt with the air traffic controllers in '83, i.e., return to work within 48 hours, or you will be considered as having abandoned your job, and CUPW needs to be decertified as a legal labor union. I hear CUPW strongly intend to make this strike go through into at least January, in which case profound damage will be done to the Canadian economy and people living in rural Canada.
Thank you guys for ruining my family run small business that offered free shipping from postage stamps and bubble mailer. Ever since we looked at other shipping options our sales have plummeted at the most important time of our year.
We should honestly be able to sue them for this. I don't agree with essential workers being able to full on strike to this degree. They should've at least finished delivering all packages before going on strike instead of being selfish pricks to the customers keeping their dying business alive.
@@Giliver they are asking for 5% per year. That's a dollar per hour if you make $20 per hour. Canada Post pays $357 MILLION per year to people who don't even touch mail. The workers' union negotiated for a whole year. Yes, you should be able to sue management.
Canada Post used to be good until they started cutting services and products: money orders, other types of stamps and it used to be much cheaper and convenient like 7-11. I am trying to leave this country and I need my mail. Stuck here because Canada doesn't know how to manage a business and treat its employees fairly.
this needs to be resolved ! it's bad for small businesses that rely on Canada Post - esp. during the busiest time of the year ! i'm unable to keep my art shop open because i cannot ship until this gets settled.
I'm so sorry. This is a time people need to Shop Local to save us. 80% of my sales are online although I do have a brick and mortar location. I'm begging my community to help me this Christmas. Shop local instead of Amazon.
Canada Post needs to let go of all of those workers and hire new ones that actually appreciate the job. While they're at it, get rid of the management positions as well, because they did nothing for many years to find ways to bring in a profit, which led to this issue. Also, they should stop blaming Amazon for their misfortunes, because they should have dealt with it years ago.
I hope Canada Post goes under. I'm more than disgusted with them, and the asinine Unions that "work" for them. Unions are only in it for themselves, not the employees. As for CP employees, the majority of you have a pretty cushy job with decent pay checks. @lightkira4119: To my knowledge no one has ever received a pay decrease at CP. They currently average nearly $25/hr but “can’t survive”, lol. Give me a break.

Ha, as ex Canada Post LC who worked in both depots and Gateway plant, I do not support this strike. I have no flyers, government propaganda, or misdirected mail in my “superbox.” Thanks for saving me a wasted trip every other day. Sorry for the damage to small businesses that still rely on this joke of a postal service.
Fire them all and hire new staff. The corporation lost $750Million last year. Everything at Canada Post needs to change from top to bottom including management but especially the unionized bloat.
The union takes $100 monthly from each worker - $ 5500 000/m - you'd think they'd cover them for loss of earnings. Firing, rehiring and retraining is unethical and uneconomical. Restructuring is inevitable though.
