You can tell that someone who worked on the show must've loved Battle for Bikini Bottom. Since they brought back Prawn in the episode Captain Pipsqueak.
I hope that maybe they could use the enemies from that game as sort of robot minions for Plankton in a similar vein to Eggman’s Badniks (that would be a cool thing to add).
In a world where even saying "Modern Spongebob" is like a slur, this video hooked me on the title alone. I don't even care about the current show, it's just nice to see someone talk about how they like it so earnestly.

In this day and age where negativity gets the clicks, I’m very relieved I still get directed to videos like this. Taking a divisive topic and putting a positive spin on it. Worth it for a show that, at its core, is about happiness.
The Spongebob Enthusiast has spoken!! Feels refreshing to see a positive video talking about Spongebob's current run because most of what I see about it is negative and pessimistic, and even at times I also feel skeptical about its current direction, but I don't hate it. I think the reason why I feel this way is also because of nostalgia and being more familiar with the older seasons, I rewatched a lot back then.
I always go back to the first 3 seasons for nostalgia and humor. Watch season 4-8 also for nostalgia (despite how blend they were), and now currently watching the modern seasons and i gotta say, its amazing how much the show has improved. My only problem with the modern seasons is SpongeBob's shift in personality, but everything else i actually enjoyed. I love the new Karen, i love the episodic writing, i love how this show would sometimes poke fun at the internet, and the forth wall breaks can be clever. Ik the shows writing has decreased but it ain't like its as bad as other shows that definitely decreased in writing like Modern teen titans go.

I feel like this video will blow up in views in like the next few years or so when everyone eventually turns around and appreciates the modern episodes I haven’t watched them because I don’t watch tv anymore but even when I watch videos criticizing the modern day episodes, I’ve always thought the art style and stuff that they’ve moved to looks pretty neat to be honest. Like they flanderized the characters, ok, but like you said, you can tell the passion from these writers regardless. The writing might not be there but the artists seem to be having a blast and all the voice actors seem to be having fun still and it seems to be a working formula

It's so nice to see the animation team have a lot more fun and give new life to the show with the expressive animation, especially after being so stiff and stilted as you mentioned. People are always repeating the same sentiment of the animation being that way to create more memes to market off of, but it's literally just the animators having a good time! I’m glad this video exists because nowadays discussing SpongeBob is so bland,boring, negative and pessimistic and anyone who didn’t grow up when or wasn’t even alive when the 1st 4 seasons were airing is basically excluded from the conversation. And as someone who was born in 2006, around when season 5/6 was airing. I don’t even really dislike any of the episodes that much and think all of them are good in their own merit.
I definitely think a lot of people are overreacting about modern SpongeBob. It's not perfect, but there's some good stuff there. This was a great video. I like the writing and jokes. Also, I noticed what you did at 9:32. That was very clever.
season 14 so far does have a few hit-or-miss episodes imo, but people usually like to trash/disregard certain good episodes for ONE minor plot detail, so this is def a refreshing take
I think its good that the current Spongebob show writers have stayed true to recapturing a lot of the essence the golden ages charm had for the kids who watch it. I like being optimistic about it considering its main audience is being raised by the spongebabies who liked the early seasons. Great vid :3
That complaint is extra confusing because Hillenburg came back. Yeah it took until season 9, but how can modern Spongebob disrespect him if he was the one that started the new era?

ive not watched much post sequel spongebob but it always drives me bonkers when spongeboomers on twt call it "soulless". soulless??? there's love pouring out of every pore, from the art and animation to even the sheer fact that so many of the crew close to the show in its golden years are _still_ passionate about it today. modern spongebob might not be for everyone, but i personally will always respect the fact that it seems like the people working on it absolutely LOVE the show and the opportunity they've been given.
Most people tend to call it solless because of Nickelodeon’s milking it ( which is usually the main excuse for why people don’t like it outside of the other excuses )
I also enjoy modern SpongeBob as well. Some of the episodes are one of my favorites and I feel Sponge Out Of Water is better than the first movie. They are both one of my favorite movies.
My love 4 dark age SpongeBob is that it’s so conceptually absurd & bad that it starts feeling like surrealist media. That’s the seasons that’s most fun rewatching as an adult. Like it feels like a left-field adult comedy. It sometimes feels like if a ytp was an offical episode.
I wouldn't really describe the current Spongebob era as good or bad since the show delivers about as good as it does bad. For every "Bassward", "Pat the Mailman", and "Hysterical History", we get a "Squidiot Box", "Pat the Dog", and "Under the Small Top". It's a mixed bag of hits and misses. You gotta take the bad with the good. That's just the way this show (or any show that's been on this long) will be from now on and I'm all for it.
I Love Modern SpongeBob! Not only is a very non recycled animated show, but it has a lot of classic cartoon slapstick to it, kinda like the wonderful world of mickey mouse.

despite having ink lemonade and nitwitting, modern spongebob is actually great, also this maybe be a shocker hot take but theres some episodes from modern era that can be better than some episodes from classic era
classic/golden era definitely has some episodes that just fall flat, and I wish fans would acknowledge that more. not every episode is a Band Geeks or a Shangheid.

This is very refreshing to hear. While Awe is one of my favorite SB RUclipsrs, and I’ve been watching for like 2 years now, his rants about modern SB can get kinda tiring, even for me.

I do enjoy watching Modern SpongeBob so far nowadays, despite people hating on it but seasons 9a and onwards are my favorite like krabby patty creature feature, no pictures please and lost in bikini bottom, spongebob long pants the flower plot, plankton gets the boot the rest of season 13 and 14 episodes! I'll always remember and enjoy the first golden era seasons 1-3 and 4-5 since it had so much funny and sad moments, squidward sticks up for spongebob even though he hates him sometimes while spongebob can be a pain he still fixes things anyway, the storytelling and plot twists are good so is the writing. Although the writing for modern seasons is kinda crazy and mixed
I really adore the modern seasons of SpongeBob. Seasons 10 and 11 are tied for my favorite seasons of the series; more so since 11 than 10 as my top two favorite episodes are Krabby Patty Creature Feature and No Pictures, Please. I'll always enjoy what the first 4 seasons had to offer as well as some other things during the middle of SpongeBob's run, but I really just like how much fun the newer seasons have been. I dunno, it's a bit hard for me to explain properly, and I don't want to make this comment too long. I'm just happy to see people like you who appreciate the newer seasons as much as I do. It may not be all great, but I don't believe it deserves all the hate that it gets, especially if it's getting hate for "reconning" something for one episode.

Yeah, I've seen some new stuff with buds and it was really interesting some had this sense "They're trying to hard to make new memes" when to me it just really looked like the staff was having fun making silly expressions! Maybe both are true to a certain extent for all I know! And that fact about Bubble Bass getting some more screen time even over Sandy that season, glad they're having fun, and sure Sandy may be harder to work with maybe with like uhh her helmet or something? I personally always found modern SpongeBob (mainly seasons 13-14) to be a mixed bag, as there are some really good episodes or funny moments within the later seasons (like "Say Awww!"), but there are also a lot of mediocre and forgettable episodes as well. I personally enjoyed The Patrick Star Show more than the main series tbh (due to the comedy and stories being a lot more funny and engaging than most season 13-14 episodes).

It's SO good to finally see somebody talking positively about Modern SpongeBob it does NOT deserve all of the hate it gets, even remotely. The only thing I don't love about Modern SpongeBob is Patrick. I feel like he's a bit too dumb, that's the only place where I think the complainers have a point. He doesn't ruin the show or anything, but his older flavor of stupid was funnier. But it's not like the original three seasons didn't have character shifts I wasn't a fan of either. I was personally far more invested in the portrayal of Karen in F.U.N., where she was actively pushing Plankton to be evil, than the role she later took on of just being annoyed by his evil all the time. Tangent aside, I love Modern SpongeBob, and I especially like how creative they've been getting, and exploring side characters more in depth. It's great to see some love for it.
As long as they have more diverse and funny plots than, how is sponge gonna work? How is plankton gonna steal the formula? Or how is sponge gonna pass the dmv? I'll be happy that stuff is done to death, the only real character that hasn't been given a revamp is sponge boy himself
Despite some flaws I have with it, Modern SpongeBob is still pretty enjoyable, even if it's a mixed bag at times. I think every season has some gems worth the watch, and I genuinely don't understand people who say anything after the 1st movie is bad. Seasons 9-11 have criminally underrated episodes.
I like modern Spongebob too tbh I'll admit that it doesn't beat classic Spongebob, there are still good modern Spongebob episodes (Spongebob in Randomland for example, the voice actors sounded like they had a blast!) Steven stepping down defiantly effected it, but season 9 from when he returns still feels like all the other non gold era seasons. So prob just nostalgia. There were some bangers after season 3
SpongeBob has improved, it feels like an entirly different show which isn't always a bad thing. But what would I know, I'm the guy who can tell a modern family guy episode from a classic episode just by the dialogue.
I have a feeling that many many people are going to disagree with your views about modern SpongeBob, but I do genuinely think it's a breath of fresh air to hear a positive opinion about the modern era of the show since at this point I'd say probably 90% of videos made on this subject are overwhelmingly negative about it. I do like a lot of your takes on it, and it's actually helped me see things through a new lens and while I still think the first 3 seasons are the peak of the series, I can have some new found appreciation for the newer episodes.
My opinion on the new additions to the supporting cast - I agree Slappy seems kind of out of place. But, I give him a pass because I assume Slappy is Tom Kenny's excuse to do his Peter Lorre impression more often. Tom Kenny seems like he enjoys doing impressions of his favorite actors, so when I see Slappy I'm able to think "Sounds like Tom Kenny's enjoying himself." Also yeah, I don't know how I feel about Nosferatu being an actual character now. - I'm not a big fan of Ice Cream King. The design, with the acne (or whatever that's suppose to be), is a little too gross for me. Also, him just being dumber Patrick seems a little unnecessary to me. - Narlene is great! I don't know if she could carry an episode focusing on just herself, but she makes a great support for the other characters like Spongebob, Patrick, Sandy, and even Pearl. But yeah, the feet stuff is a little "SUS" and not that funny to justify it. But, I do like how they made her little brother grow up to still have a bubbly personality but with a hulking body type. - Rube Goldfish is a pleasant gag character. I just hope they don't push him too much. They're already getting a little cocky with how much people want to see/hear Fred. - Lady Upturn I think makes a good antagonist as the "Karen" (Not the computer wife) type. She's not a fun character in herself, but her archetype makes sense with the plots they have her for. I think Squilliam is more of a smug, rich jerk and Lady Upturn is more easily offended, control freak. But yeah, Squilliam definitely needs a push in this modern era.

ive not watched much post sequel spongebob but it always drives me bonkers when spongeboomers on twt call it "soulless". soulless??? there's love pouring out of every pore, from the art and animation to even the sheer fact that so many of the crew close to the show in its golden years are _still_ passionate about it today. modern spongebob might not be for everyone, but i personally will always respect the fact that it seems like the people working on it absolutely LOVE the show and the opportunity they've been given.
Most people tend to call it solless because of Nickelodeon’s milking it ( which is usually the main excuse for why people don’t like it outside of the other excuses )

I also enjoy modern SpongeBob as well. Some of the episodes are one of my favorites and I feel Sponge Out Of Water is better than the first movie. They are both one of my favorite movies.

My love 4 dark age SpongeBob is that it’s so conceptually absurd & bad that it starts feeling like surrealist media. That’s the seasons that’s most fun rewatching as an adult. Like it feels like a left-field adult comedy. It sometimes feels like if a ytp was an offical episode.
One of my favorite episodes from that era was Squidward in Clarinetland, it's so damn bizarre for spongebob but it's pure surrealism and I love it

I wouldn't really describe the current Spongebob era as good or bad since the show delivers about as good as it does bad. For every "Bassward", "Pat the Mailman", and "Hysterical History", we get a "Squidiot Box", "Pat the Dog", and "Under the Small Top". It's a mixed bag of hits and misses. You gotta take the bad with the good. That's just the way this show (or any show that's been on this long) will be from now on and I'm all for it.

Not only is a very non recycled animated show, but it has a lot of classic cartoon slapstick to it, kinda like the wonderful world of mickey mouse.

despite having ink lemonade and nitwitting, modern spongebob is actually great, also this maybe be a shocker hot take but theres some episodes from modern era that can be better than some episodes from classic era
classic/golden era definitely has some episodes that just fall flat, and I wish fans would acknowledge that more. not every episode is a Band Geeks or a Shangheid.

I do enjoy watching Modern SpongeBob so far nowadays, despite people hating on it but seasons 9a and onwards are my favorite like krabby patty creature feature, no pictures please and lost in bikini bottom, spongebob long pants the flower plot, plankton gets the boot the rest of season 13 and 14 episodes! I'll always remember and enjoy the first golden era seasons 1-3 and 4-5 since it had so much funny and sad moments, squidward sticks up for spongebob even though he hates him sometimes while spongebob can be a pain he still fixes things anyway, the storytelling and plot twists are good so is the writing. Although the writing for modern seasons is kinda crazy and mixed
I really adore the modern seasons of SpongeBob. Seasons 10 and 11 are tied for my favorite seasons of the series; more so since 11 than 10 as my top two favorite episodes are Krabby Patty Creature Feature and No Pictures, Please. I'll always enjoy what the first 4 seasons had to offer as well as some other things during the middle of SpongeBob's run, but I really just like how much fun the newer seasons have been. I dunno, it's a bit hard for me to explain properly, and I don't want to make this comment too long. I'm just happy to see people like you who appreciate the newer seasons as much as I do. It may not be all great, but I don't believe it deserves all the hate that it gets, especially if it's getting hate for "reconning" something for one episode.

Yeah, I've seen some new stuff with buds and it was really interesting some had this sense "They're trying to hard to make new memes" when to me it just really looked like the staff was having fun making silly expressions! Maybe both are true to a certain extent for all I know! And that fact about Bubble Bass getting some more screen time even over Sandy that season, glad they're having fun, and sure Sandy may be harder to work with maybe with like uhh her helmet or something? I for one LOVE modern Spongebob, and I get so mad when people keep saying that they only miss the first 3 seasons and keep claiming themselves as "true fans" like why the heak are you calling yourself a true fan!? honestly, im one person who does not agree with peoples opinions, and says that the old stuff is only loved because of nostalgia purposes, but modern spongebob is something that i totally agree with, i feel like they make EVERYTHING WAYYYYY to unnecessary. also karen, which you said got the biggest W i feel like got one of the biggest L's, i feel like she has WAY to much emotion, i prefered how in the golden ages and the mid seasons, she did not have to much emotion, I feel like in the modern ages, they shouldve started wrapping up the show, Making it a little more serious? give it a storyline? that wouldve been really cool for the modern season cause i feel like they messed it up.

I am so glad someone is finally talking about how good the modern episodes are! I watch them frequently! And it doesn't disresct steven in anyway... It literally gives credits and thanks to him all the time! (ALSO BRING BACK SQUILLIAM!)
I personally always found modern SpongeBob (mainly seasons 13-14) to be a mixed bag, as there are some really good episodes or funny moments within the later seasons (like "Say Awww!"), but there are also a lot of mediocre and forgettable episodes as well. I personally enjoyed The Patrick Star Show more than the main series tbh (due to the comedy and stories being a lot more funny and engaging than most season 13-14 episodes).

It's SO good to finally see somebody talking positively about Modern SpongeBob it does NOT deserve all of the hate it gets, even remotely.
The only thing I don't love about Modern SpongeBob is Patrick. I feel like he's a bit too dumb, that's the only place where I think the complainers have a point. He doesn't ruin the show or anything, but his older flavor of stupid was funnier.
But it's not like the original three seasons didn't have character shifts I wasn't a fan of either. I was personally far more invested in the portrayal of Karen in F.U.N., where she was actively pushing Plankton to be evil, than the role she later took on of just being annoyed by his evil all the time.
Tangent aside, I love Modern SpongeBob, and I especially like how creative they've been getting, and exploring side characters more in depth. It's great to see some love for it.

As long as they have more diverse and funny plots than, how is sponge gonna work? How is plankton gonna steal the formula? Or how is sponge gonna pass the dmv? I'll be happy that stuff is done to death, the only real character that hasn't been given a revamp is sponge boy himself
Despite some flaws I have with it, Modern SpongeBob is still pretty enjoyable, even if it's a mixed bag at times.
I think every season has some gems worth the watch, and I genuinely don't understand people who say anything after the 1st movie is bad. Seasons 9-11 have criminally underrated episodes.

I'll admit that it doesn't beat classic Spongebob, there are still good modern Spongebob episodes (Spongebob in Randomland for example, the voice actors sounded like they had a blast!)

Steven stepping down defiantly effected it, but season 9 from when he returns still feels like all the other non gold era seasons. So prob just nostalgia. There were some bangers after season 3

SpongeBob has improved, it feels like an entirly different show which isn't always a bad thing.
But what would I know, I'm the guy who can tell a modern family guy episode from a classic episode just by the dialogue.
This really is a breath fresh of air, keep it up!
I have a feeling that many many people are going to disagree with your views about modern SpongeBob, but I do genuinely think it's a breath of fresh air to hear a positive opinion about the modern era of the show since at this point I'd say probably 90% of videos made on this subject are overwhelmingly negative about it.
I do like a lot of your takes on it, and it's actually helped me see things through a new lens and while I still think the first 3 seasons are the peak of the series, I can have some new found appreciation for the newer episodes.
My opinion on the new additions to the supporting cast
- I agree Slappy seems kind of out of place. But, I give him a pass because I assume Slappy is Tom Kenny's excuse to do his Peter Lorre impression more often. Tom Kenny seems like he enjoys doing impressions of his favorite actors, so when I see Slappy I'm able to think "Sounds like Tom Kenny's enjoying himself." Also yeah, I don't know how I feel about Nosferatu being an actual character now.
- I'm not a big fan of Ice Cream King. The design, with the acne (or whatever that's suppose to be), is a little too gross for me. Also, him just being dumber Patrick seems a little unnecessary to me.
- Narlene is great! I don't know if she could carry an episode focusing on just herself, but she makes a great support for the other characters like Spongebob, Patrick, Sandy, and even Pearl. But yeah, the feet stuff is a little "SUS" and not that funny to justify it. But, I do like how they made her little brother grow up to still have a bubbly personality but with a hulking body type.
- Rube Goldfish is a pleasant gag character. I just hope they don't push him too much. They're already getting a little cocky with how much people want to see/hear Fred.
- Lady Upturn I think makes a good antagonist as the "Karen" (Not the computer wife) type. She's not a fun character in herself, but her archetype makes sense with the plots they have her for. I think Squilliam is more of a smug, rich jerk and Lady Upturn is more easily offended, control freak. But yeah, Squilliam definitely needs a push in this modern era.
