What's up with all these youtubers hating on this shoe line? I almost didn't get the magic speed 1 due to bad reviews from them. But later on decided to get one regardless. Boy was I surprised! Now Magic speed 1 is my best daily/temp run shoe this year. I am now excited to get version 2!
Same with novablast version 1. Most reviewers hated on it but most people who got it loved it and hyped it. Then reviewers LOVED novablast ver 2, but I hated it.
I agree with you....almost every other viewer loved this shoe. Maybe it's because we don't have a reference point like these guys. But I also don't agree with some of the negative talk, to call this shoe "a miss" is wrong
I like that the Magic Speed 2 came along and got a slightly negative review (with some really constructive criticism) because it proves it’s possible for Believe In The Run to work in partnership with ASICS on video content throughout the year and still give an honest review. 👏🏻
I DO like & subscribe to the channel and I'm not even a runner (I walk a LOT).... that being said, I love listening to you guys, always entertaining, sincere thanks!
Perfect timing I’ve also pulled the trigger on these 2x in the last week. Everything I want them to be their not! Asics with the Heartbreaker. I’ll hold my breath for Novablast 3.
I am a nike user, currently using tempo next% and alphafly, this shoe surprisingly fit to my running style, i cant say better than tempo, but definetely a taker.
Almost didn’t get the magic speed 1 cus of the bad reviews… turned out to be one of the best tempo training shoe I have. I’ll wait for it to get discounted and then grab one.
to each their own... i used this for my tempo runs (felt fine also for zone2-3 runs) and a few half marathons, and really durable, and i love this pair! to manage expectations, of course it won't be as good as the feel of super racers/trainers...and 1 more thing, i bought this last year in Karuizawa premium outlet (Nagano, Japan) for a 50% discount...winner!
Basically every reviewer sh*tted on this shoe. Kofuzi was the only reviewer that shed a positive light on the shoe. This is a pretty good daily trainer. It’s light, the foam provides plenty of comfortable cushion, and the plate provides forward propulsion. There’s no “bounce” from the foam but that’s made up by the “snap” of the plate. The cushioning provides plenty of softened landings. The heel is a bit awkward feeling but it’s meant to be struck forefoot, and it makes you want to speed up the pace. Very good addition to my daily trainer rotation
What about for $80, I found them online for $79.99, would it be a good buy at that price point. I like the my Asics Metaspeed Edge+ and the My Superblast for slow distance. I'm looking for something I can pick the pace up on during a 10 to 12 mile run.
I have the first version and it's been a big disappointment. As you say, you can't do easy miles in it, only tempos, fartleks, and intervals. Also, it's not even been six months, and the upper is falling apart.
new to running, crossing over from cycling I bought two pair since they were on sale for 73.00, They feel stiffer than the Noosa Tai 14. I like that about the shoes. Also, they train my stride and my legs and ankles are not sore while I am training for my first half-marathon. I am not sure what to wear for the day of the race. I am interested in what options are suitable for me since I am tolerant of these running shoes. Thanks in advance.
I love these shoes. It focuses on those who want training to increase cadence. But I won't wear it for more than 10 km. Because it is a little less on the cushion.
But now, summer 2023, Magic Speed 2 easily available for $75 US online,,Running Warehouse, Amazon, etc, while Saucony has not backed down one bit on the $170 for the End Speed and $220 for the Pro. Suddenly the $75 magic looks like that easy entry into the carbon plate thing instead of the Sauconys.
@@iambrent 5 days until they arrive. Going to also order Novblast 3 (as soon as they are available) to replace NB Rebel V2s for my slow day, daily trainers. The Magic Speed 2 will be my new race day shoe for 5 and 10k.
I loved she original magic speed for hiit interval sprints and treadmill work. It seems like Asics intends for the magic speed line to be more of a tempo shoe than anything else.
For me, the biggest running shoe disappointment in 2022 is the Nike Pegasus Turbo Next Nature. Returned them, Nike needs to remove the Turbo branding from that shoe, and call it something else.
Great and honest review, per usual. Is the purple colorway a mens release? Please say yes! I’m so torn on these. I had really high hopes for these. The first version seemed to be a little firmer than what I think I’d like based off of reviews, so I passed on that. The metaspeed sky and edge are only available up to a size 13us and I wear a 14, so since the magic speed 2 looked so much like the sky and edge and has the ffblast+ and is available in my size, I thought I finally hit the jackpot. I still may buy a pair, but I’ll probably be looking to the novablast 3 in the immediate future.
seems like a Metaspeed Sky from Wish to me, thanks for the review. Do you think it is possible to review the KIPRUN KD900X plated shoe? It is getting quit the buzz here in Europe (at least...)
I liked the first and it was ok "feel wise" though can get a bit harsh with long runs . A softer , bouncier feeling update would have been appreciated, personally. They should have done a full blast + mid (given positives with the Nova 3 so far) or regular blast in the heel, instead of reg FF (if price was a concern) .........unless Asics thought it might cannibalize the Metaspeed line .
@@iambrent true FF is hell of a durable foam (i have the noosa tri 13) but i have the Magic speed 1 also and the Blast foam is also very durable which could have been an option . Blast + i have not experienced yet but asics has used the foam on their other 2022 models which are also exposed so just curious why they used regular FF foams for this model. I thought cost , but the nova 3 is cheaper and has a slab of blast + while being a little more built up . I will still try them on in the store just to see as i tend to gravitate to stiffish but forgiving rides . I have too much shoes as of now so its between the Magic 2 and nova 3 .......and i want the Magic to better fit me hahahaahahahhaahah (if it is a bit softer ride than the takumi 8 (my go to now) then i just might)

Magic speed ! ! Half carbon plate is just amazing just enough to keep me going
Never ever listen to Reviewers. Go and test shoes by yourself. Oh, and imo the Magic Speed 1 AND 2 are just amazing. 🤷
It’s an awesome gym shoe for the treadmill warmup and doing the lifts
Had to double check i wasn't watching a Kofuzi review with that intro! LOL. ❤
anddddd...Robbe still coming through with the soft hands!! LETS GO!
The intro, thought the same thing!
Same!
same.
was expecting a b-roll of someone running after the intro ended.
Same LOL
I did my first run in these this morning and loved them, really reminded me of the Saucony endorphin speed 2!

On 10/7/23, I picked up a pair of these on the ASICS site for $79.00. I bought specifically for tempo workouts and possibly 5/10K races.
I really like the first version. I just ran with them this morning for my fartlek training. A real great energy return for me.

Greatly appreciate this review
I have the first version and love it, just got the meta edge+ to step up on full carbon, hope I can think the same way to my second pair of ASICS
So it’s better than the Boston 10/11 and Nike Zoom Fly 5, but not as good as the Endorphin Speed? Maybe comparable to the Deviate Nitro?
The 1s remind me of the Nike Mariah’s from the 80s…..shoes have made so much progress since then…..I agree with your conclusions
Looks like a nice shoe to me, and the right weight. ❤

so many Asics reviews 😉... but no Noosa Tri 14 (not that I need the review because I own a pair but it's a great non plated race day shoe pick)
Same shoe as the Evoride

Is the magic speed 2 really this bad? I just bought a pair at discount but felt like returning after watching this video.
This shoe looks so similar to metaspeed edge plus, except edge plus is more luxurious and uses carbon fiber plate.
Is the insole supposed to be glued to the inside of the shoe? I have not seen that in running shoes before, usually the insoles are removable.
Is the shape of the mid sole closer to the metaspeed sky or edge? looking for answer to this everywhere, pictures make it seem closer to the edge.
Do you mean the plate placement? Actual midsole shape is pretty much the same in all three
@@Believeintherun The plate placement and the shape of the curve from the forefoot up to the toe when looking at the shoe from the side

I also use OG Magic Speeds for sprints on the treadmill. They are so perfect for that.
How is the Magic Speed 2 so bad compared to the Novablast 3 with the same midsole?
Not the same midsole, the bottom layer of this shoe is Flytefoam
@@Believeintherun I see, THX.
Too bad for Asics but at least we know that if Lamer needs a wide receiver, he doesn’t have to look far 🏈🙌🏽
Between two shoes: Magic Speed 2 vs Endorphin speed 2
Agree 💯👌
Speed 2 with the landslide, IMO.

Which shoe between the magic speed, hyper speed, metaspeed sky, or metaspeed edge would be best for me as a sprinter for training.

Dawged the show for the whole episode
The Magic Speed 1 was a good shoe for uptempo and at a great price. I can't believe the 2 got worse.

Sound a lot like the metaracer to me.
It’s ok but nothing really to appreciate it

Very disappointed not enough cushioning for me hopefully it's bigger brother will be good

So watcha sayin is, get another pair of Zoom Fly 4? That's what I heard.
2 editions seems like 2 failures on the Magic Speed
No magic at all
