Young people should be allowed to vote at the same age they are automatically drafted into the Army for required service

The person speaking with scattered thinking is the reason why 16 year olds shouldn’t be voting. Young people are such babies these days. They are required to remain in full time education till 18 so that should be voting age.

Voting is important, if you dont vote then you lost your privalge to criticize. As for national services, it is a very good idea. I my-self went through mandatory national services at 17 and stayed for 10 years. It teaches self discipline, responsibility, integrity etc. and most importantly, that the world does not revolve around you and that there is biger things out there.

Unfortunately, deciding not to vote is a vote, because it sometimes helps the people who are against your rights to get into power. Which is why everyone should vote - especially disenfranchised people.

I think the UK should give it a try 😂😂😂
Here in the states, we should be contemplating increasing the minimum voting age 👍🏻

Yes!!!!! Absolutely; at least 25 years old. They need skin in the game before voting on legislation that impacts our adult lives.

16 and 17 year olds absolutely should NOT be allowed to vote. Those of us who have skin in the game - money, property, businesses, taxes to pay, regulations to abide by - have nothing in common with an emotionally immature, naive young person who has NO skin in the game. Teens will vote for whoever promises them free stuff and weed; adults -- at least mature/normal middle class adults - will vote for someone who understands how the world works, how businesses work, how taxes and regulation can impact the economy and lives, etc. We have fundamentally different interests; they are incompatible and the adults should always win out. Let kids be kids. In fact, let's raise the voting age to 22 minimum or 25 ideally. Let them get a few years in the workforce before being able to choose legislators.

Recent research has shown that the brain isn't fully developed until the age of 21 so it looks like we got it right in the old days.
I wonder whether the 16 and 17-year-olds have thought it through; having the vote (i.e. being considered responsible adults) will mean that they will no longer have anonymity if they get into trouble with the law. A lot of knife crime is carried out by people in that age bracket who "can't be named for legal reason".

They are young adults, so yes, they should be allowed to vote because primarily, the future belongs to them and their children. Quite a simple answer. Video over.

By that logic people over 75 should not be allowed to vote because they are unlikely to live long enough to 'suffer' the next parliament.
