It was utterly shameful that Malakai could not win this competition. Instead, they had to give first place to a third-rate comedienne. I thought BGT was all about bringing true talent forward.
I know many people will disagree, but I was sad they chose this for his semi final. The aria is written for a female soprano, not a treble. Malakai haas the most amazing voice, but this piece does not do it justice. He hits the notes, but piece needs an adult voice. His performance of this aria on his album is much better and stronger. I think a Handal aria written for his type of voice or Mozart’s Alleluia would have been much better. But these pieces aren’t known as well, and sadly I suspect the producers didn’t trust the audience to have liked them.
