I remember this was the first time most of HK's public heard her sing Chinese opera (she grew up singing a bit of it, but never in front of such a big audience, live and on TV). The next day, everybody was talking about how surprisingly good she was. After that, she was frequently asked to sing more opera at charity events and on TV shows.
The sad part is it took Mui many years of singing in street opera to perfect her skills. Behind every note I can imagine the days she sang to less appreciative crowd. No wonder diamonds are made under the harshest conditions. Well done, Mui, well done!
Who is eligible to replace her who can sung so well in both modern and opera songs. Anita Mui, miss you so much especially your talented singing. I can now only able to listen back your voice and songs thru youtube. Thank you to those who uploaded Anita Mui past performances in youtube.
Agree with benbowDD -- even in her concerts, you'll see her shaking hands with fans but still stay "in character" for her songs and won't skip a beat. She gave an amazing performance here.
Mui did it So Good!!! She executed each word and sound with excellent accuracy and told the story with no fault. At the same time she managed to take control of the charity business, bringing good mood and humour to the whole thing. She was the most talented and deserved our greatest respect.
truly well said, benbowDD. Not only she executes the notes with great accuaracy, her voice adds a great part to those superb performance. Even if she doesn't dance, doesn't joke, it's still worth a lot to listen to her sing. It's really a special experience considering her voice is so charming and soothing a lot of the times.
This is a very famous song which combines Nam Yum and other Cantonese music together. Nam Yum (the Southern Sound/Music) is the sort of melody that is sung by blind people. In the old days, blind people would go to learn to sing Nam Yum as a profession so as to make a living. They would accompany themselves with very simple musical instruments and telling their stories through this music.
This is of course a famous Canto-opera "beggar's" song for charity; but watching her doing it added a heightened sense of poignancy. Thanks for posting it.

She is so talented OMGGG🥰

Anita is soooo good! Now that's real talent!
Her Cantonese opera singing ,to me, is better than many professional of the trade.
Wow...Anita...God did need a sweet angel...this song made me cry...

Please can anyone tel me the name of the opera? Although I'm not Chinese I enjoy Cantonese opera.may she rest in peace.
The name of the opera is 萬惡淫為首 。the original version was from this guy ruclips.net/video/ZSkWuTHOnrM/видео.html
