Probably has a lot to do with the sim’d stats, they always overestimate regression. Most of the time, in the first year, Shohei gets like 40 HRs and like 30 SBs, but after 2025, it drops off by like 5-10 a year, by the he’s like 35 he hits like 15 HRs a year with like a 5 ERA, never got above 110 ERA+ and barely gets above a combined WAR above 5 after the first year. It also looks like they stopped his pitching because in the ballot it says he’s a RF, so that probably makes it even worse because he never had good fielding stats to start and learning a new position past 30 is like near impossible to be good defensively.
I worked for the A’s this past season, and seeing a go-ahead RBI double in the World Series hit to that same part of right field where I would walk during my shifts was an emotional twinge for sure

The old version tends to go on sale shortly before the new version comes out and the new version tends to be pretty buggy for the first month. If you're planning on just playing single player it's usually better to just get the old one on sale.
If 25 goes on sale cheap (it was $9.99 during the Steam Winter Sale), buy it. Otherwise wait for 26. You can also probably get 26 for half off if you wait until the All Star Break/Steam Summer Sale.
