Great Video. You forgot to point out a couple things though 1) All Wheel Drive (No Longer Selling RWD LR) 2) 250 Range Compared to 322 Range (Biggest Reason) 3) 5.3 to 4.4 0-60 time difference. 4) 170kw Charging Speeds Compared to 250kw If any of these 4 things (Along with what you said) matter more than $9,000 then get the Long Range version. If not then get the Standard Range Plus. Other than that great video man. Keep it up.
Agree that while it would've been nice, all of these things missing in SR+ are minor and I don't see it as a big deal. Although if you're an audiophile, I could see the downgraded sound system as being the one thing that could truly be a bummer (but I'm not an audiophile so that's not important to me). So in choosing to purchase the SR+ over the LR version, it was a simple decision making process for me. Is the 1 second faster 0-60 time and 72 more miles of range be worth the extra $9k? And in my judgement, the answer was a resounding no. I think the SR+ is the best value for a Tesla that you can buy.
I think it’s crazy that the cars are shipped with the hardware needed for these features. So Tesla already spent the money to have them in there and you just have to pay to “unlock” them pretty much.
Yeah. The sad thing is you have paid for the hardware in your purchase price. There is no way Tesla gave you the hardware for free even if it’s in the cheaper car. So if you pay to have them switched on, then you’ve paid twice!
Good point Amresh -- the AWD is a significant feature that you don't get in an SR+. Highly recommend a Long range AWD/Performance if you live in areas that require AWD
I've got an SR+ on order in Shanghai, China. Since I won't be driving more than 20 miles per day anyway, the entry level spec is all that is needed. Its more than enough range for near by cities too! Which I'll probably do only a few times year. So not a big deal.
In the Tesla Model 3 the fog lights are physically there but are software locked. So if there was a way to unlock it then we would have the option of turning them on
@@meiyokaze Hm.. good question. I am not 100% sure since they physically took out some speakers for the Model 3 SR+ recently but I think they are just software deactivated
need your advice, i drive between 130 to 160 miles per day , a mix of city, country and freeway driving, should i buy a model 3 rwd standard range or a long range awd? thank you for your help
There are absolutely no fog lamps? Or just that they are not the LED type? If there none, then it’s surprising how they can omit such a safety feature.
As I’m sure other people have commented before, the idea of paying to “unlock” features for your car is beyond annoying. Rear heated seats wouldn’t be an issue for me because I usually don’t have people in the back, but the fact that I would literally already have the heated seats when I bought the car but wouldn’t have access to it unless I unlocked it with just my phone would be upsetting. The fog lights would bother me. I love having fog lights, and if this car already has them built in and they’re physically there, why should you not be able to use them???
Completely understand how you feel. I guess the glass half full way of thinking about this is that traditional cars will have some features but will never have the option to upgrade through a software update. Idk, just tryna be positive haha but overall I still love my car very much
Good question Andy! Autopilot is included in the SR+ so you can enable it and it will keep you within a lane, accelerate, and brake for you. Also when you're parking it will chime when you are getting too close to an object. Hope this helps!

Hi jay..great video..quick question..do you know whether the SR+ comes with lights in the trunk? I opened mine and nothing comes on...I se 2 "lights" on either side of the trunk but nothing comes on

Seems odd that Tesla will go to the expense of installing certain features and then software lock them. Usually hardware is more costly than software. Obviously it’s all fairly inexpensive stuff for them to install and they are raking in money whenever someone pays the $300 to turn on the heated rear seats (for example).
You're absolutely right Marc -- things like LED fog lights too since it's hardware installed already why not just software unlock it? But perhaps there are larger business decisions that we are unaware of, who knows haha
I wish Tesla would someday release some of these options through the software upgrades. At least they could let us have the ambient lighting. It’s not just for looks but for safety. Please Elon! Let There Be Light!!
I want a Tesla Model 3 so bad, but there's a few things I want them to improve on. The most obvious issue they've had is panel gaps, but I'm not gonna worry about that since they're apparently gonna iron that out with the 2022 model 3. I hate the idea of software locks. I feel like if your car has the hardware, you should be able to use it. I'm okay with the idea of paying to have the hardware installed, but why hand over $300 to have your rear heated seats enabled if they already have the hardware to heat the seats? I can also get behind premium connectivity, mostly because it's cheap enough to not be a big deal. Still, it is cheaper to unlock these features than to pay an extra 9k for the long range. I feel like there should be an option between the SR+ and LR that includes all your premium features without the longer range and performance. Maybe the standard range plus we have now could be demoted to just being standard, which wouldn't even come with the hardware for these extra features, lowering the price, then the standard+ would have the premium features all enabled, then we have the long range which could potentially have more features.
