    I used to love this game as a kid. Never beat it, though. I could beat Ninja Gaiden but not Pink Goes To Hollywood. Go figure.

    Idk why, but I always found something about this game scary when I played it as a 5 or 6 year old.

      I found the charging Rats, the big swimming sharks and the large slices of pink lemons to be anxiety inducing as a kid because of how blood often I would die because of them.....this game was like one long, brutal and unforgiving fever dream for me. Everyone has THAT game that just seemed to upset and tweak you in a way that others would not. Well.........this was most certainly mine lol!

    Used to run down the clock on a lot of levels. Fridge was probably my favourite, never made it to Halloween themed final areas

    I counted the exhaust manafolds at the end and there were 320 of them which, if every inch counted as a foot, would make the car approx. 328 ft (100 meters) long. That makes it 228 ft longer than the Jay Ohrberg limousine.

    NO game infuriated me quite like this one. I remember actually making it to the final level, but being unable to pass because Ghost Clouseau's gate would never open. I think it's because I used the level skip code, which I found completely by accident because I'm pretty sure it was start and select simultaneously.
    But that hit detection and the slippery controls make it a complete disaster. It is funny that Pink's corpse can still be controlled and kill enemies on the way down to hell.
    And the game has a horrible downer ending -- only 425,000 at the box office? That's a bomb!

      I used to have this game as a kid, the only way to get that gate to open, you have to collect the stars in each stage AND you MUST defeat the bosses in each of the stages you can't miss one. By then go back to that poltergeist level and you'll see that ghost in the cage and defeat that one. That's when the gate opens... It's a pain in the ass but I remember beating it alot.

      This is exactly why I'm watching 25 years later, and now that I actually know about game design, so much of why this sticks out as The Actual Worst makes sense. There are absolutely no indicators in most of the levels as to where you should be going, what you should be doing, whether there's a boss, what the boss is, which toll coin to use...the lack of direction MIGHT have worked if there had been margin for error but the game punished you with death for exploration. That's underlined even further with the debug option, you can go anywhere and you STILL don't know what you're doing or why. Oh and then it locks you out for cheating.
      Thank you for putting some closure on my childhood, I appreciate it dearly.
      wtf was up with the turkey level anyway

      This level caused such problems and meltdowns for me as a kid....its probably given me a complex at this point lol. Honestly though, the entire game is pretty much just as bad. The Robin Hood and Pirate levels are the ones that particularly standout as stress-inducing nightmares. The acorn throwing squirrels and jellyfish rank as the worst enemies in the game for me along with the turkey bones and bouncing olives. Kids today will never know how hard games like this were back in the day lol!

    ok so i'm not crazy that this game was incredibly difficult.

    • @RentalRewindGaming
      @RentalRewindGaming  2 года назад +1

      Oh no your not crazy, I've had the game almost 25 yrs at this point and once this playthrough video was done I have not touched it since. I think of all the games I played/had for SNES back then this was easily the one that "had my number" so to speak. I know lots of kids games back then were probably far more difficult then they should have been but this one really stands out (along with Lion King...) as going way too far overboard with its cheap unfairness and unbalanced jumping that racks the difficulty of this game far higher then it should be...which is a shame since I liked the kid quite a bit as a kid but it really has been dented when I went back to play it for this video and all the bad memories of yelling, screaming and rage-quitting all came flying back in a hurry. Glad to have finished it finally after all these years but man...the memories remain lol!

    Once on the ground with that expression, it falls to the bottom of the level, having a small preview.

    I never really liked this game because it was sometimes pretty difficult, the fridge part was very irritating, and I couldn't find the secret western room necessary to go to the final stage. Oh yes, and the Robin Hood part with the squirrels throwing hazelnuts at you was ridiculous

    It's no Garfield: Caught in the Act or Gex, that's for sure.

    • @Treyworld
      @Treyworld 5 лет назад

      @@RentalRewindGaming I was actually comparing the games themes. Garfield and Gex both get trapped in television. This one has more of a movie set theme. Similar to something like Animaniacs for Genesis and SNES. I've always liked the idea of playing a game with a theme of another form of media. Comix Zone is another example.
