I am part of a function band that I start with my friends in January. By April we really got our name out there by busking in the street, filming videos of us rehearsing and also doing some charity gigs. Wedding season had begun and we received countless offers from clients. However, they were offering us very little money for the job and passed it off as "experience" because we were seen as students. At first, we were afraid to say no. However, we realised its completely ok to say no to someone who would underpay you as we already had a lot of experience as a band and also as individual musicians. The moment we said no to clients and gave them our price. Some would reject our offer (which is ok) but most of them agreed. As of now, our band has made £15000 so far and we are still being called to play for privet events. I think we would have never been so successful if we said "yes" to every client.
Underpaying musicians is such a weird and horrible trend; they saw you busk and that should have been all the evidence they need that you have the chops. You guys deserve every cent
Yeah, this sort of thing happens a ton in creative industries. People love to take advantage of musicians, artists, graphic designers, etc. for "exposure".
I think YT kind of squashed the theater part because they want people to pay for YTRed to watch it. AND I WILL NOT PAY FOR YTRED AND I WILL NOT WATCH LT2 ON IT.
Burnie, says Yes to do something and forces someone else to say yes to him so he does not have to say no... well done Burnie... well done lesson learned...
I really love this company. I hope to someday start something like the empire that Burnie built and having half the heart that he and his employees do.
This will not mean any thing to you guys but. Its these vidoes that helped me reach out to a long lost half sister and I am trying my best to build a relationship with her one message at time. Thank you Burnie and Ellie!
An informed "No" can be more valuable than any yes. You will not have the doubt and regret. But it takes all the experience at "Yes" to become informed.
I think Gavin could be a perfect example of saying no, since before RT or anything, he said he was a paper boy until he just decided it wasn’t worth it.
So I work at a community theater in my town and I have only worked crew. The co-director of the latest show came up to me and asked if I wanted to help next fall since during the spring I'd be occupied with the high school show. I asked if he meant be his co director since he was directing and he said 'no'. I was a little bummed but I said i'd help him anyway. At the cast party we talked and he told me about the show he was wanting to do. I gave him some ideas for visual effects and he was impressed by my theater knowledge. These people didn't know I went to school for it since they only knew he as a tech. He messaged me later saying he was so impressed by me that I got the job as co-director. Sometimes you gotta let people tell you no to let you show them what you can do.
I am visiting Austin right know from Oregon and decided that it would be cool to visit rooster teeth at their headquarters. I tried calling ahead of time to see if they did tours, no one answered. I then decided to look on Reddit and found out that they did. Sadly after an hour long Uber driver to Rooster Teeth headquarters I found out that they no longer do tours because of a rogue fan who apparently stole from them. Wish I could have met you guys, but I was stopped at the gate and my girlfriend and I were told we couldn't enter. :(
Just so you know. There 5 Co-founder/owners of rooster teeth. It’s, *Burnie Burns*(Voice of Church in RvB), *Joel Heyman*(Voice of Caboose), *Matt Hullum*(Voice of sarge), *Geoff Ramsey*(Voice of Grif) and *Gus Sorola*(Voice of Simmons and he’s Hispanic). They are the 5 founding fathers of this Amazing Company.
Ruby Yandere my favourite character is the evil scorpion character who works for salem I can’t remember his name but my fav hero is yang because of her semblance
Hei Rooster Teeth, as a trying startup myself i have to say YES and NO to alot of things i am very happy to hear from a professional like Burnie on this matter. I love the content you guys make!
I saw Lazer Team 2 yesterday in Jacksonvile, FL. Fun movie. I wish you had advertised. I found out it was being played in my theater by a fluke. I have a MoviePass card and was just looking for something to watch.
since the company is getting so big, who does the firing? has anyone had to be let go? i wanna see the HR department at RT cause they look like they have a hell of a job.
Jeff Wilton Actually they gave him an ultimatum to turn his twitch stream into a Rooster Teeth controlled project or stop streaming and he chose to leave the company and pursue it instead because he was happier doing it
When I started university life, I was trying hard to work towards a degree in Communication Design. I worked for a year during university and practically my entire community college time studying and creating for that. Now here is an issue: To get into the program at my university, I have to submit some of my work into a portfolio review for teachers to decide whether or not to I go further. I have two shots at this degree until it would be a better idea to search elsewhere. Now the first attempt I got rejected, so I decided to take a semester off the Comm Des courses and work on a minor. It was during that semester I started kicking around the idea of switching degrees. The difficulty being that if I did switch, I would be kissing the money and effort, not the experience, I put into this Comm Des program goodbye. I struggled with it for the semester and subsequent summer until I faced the music and switched. I had to say no to continuing the Com Des program and switched to Advertising and Mass Communication and...I am feeling good about it. My grades are good and I am actually able to absorb knowledge and move forward. So let the lesson be that: sometimes saying no is the best thing for you.
Ryan Tiemann you can't lose something you've already lost...that money and effort become sunk cost right away. They aren't wasted because you already used them up. But glad you're doing what you want now, I had to make that decision several times but it actually helped me get most of my necessary credits done by switching a lot..go figure
I see the RT "behind the scenes" stuff like this. And I want to be apart of it, I want it more then anything else in the world. So I've dedicated my entire life to Animation in hopes that one day I will have that opportunity. The last opportunity I'll ever have to say yes to...
I'm surprised that when Burnie talked about saying "No" he didn't bring up the whole deal with net neutrality since it would affect Rooster Teeth and the vote is what two to three days from now?
No bullshit, you're one of the inspirations to make videos. I know that you have to edit videos like moi, which is fun and rewarding for me to make something with my own two hands, though I can only learn more from where I am, but it will have to also involve me having to move to Austin, which is very much a massive debate on my part, because I have no sources of my own to be had there. Then again on the other side of that coin, I have very few reasons to stay where I am (Spring TX) either. Plus I am one of those people that sees things in my mind's eye on realistic terms and have done so for years.
The whole thing is on youtube, with 24 videos of 1 hour each. Or you can look on youtube for extra life 2017 highlights. I think there was one by hembohero
Jack’s emotion when he was thanking everyone hit me hard man what they do is so amazing
Was going to comment the same thing. Jack welling up at the end of EL was really touching. Guy has a really good heart.
imagine how emotional he would've got if they raised yogscast figures with over $5 millions dollars like yogscast did
Lost my job recently, it has changed my outlook and I have started the 'saying yes to everything' thing.
Every single time Matt's on camera, I'm reminded how much I love him.
"and extra-life behind the scenes" never clicked faster haha... and you got the moment jack cried :'(
Ellie looks good with a beard😍

Jack O'Rourke Dude, that's awesome! Congratulations!
Good for you and your friends man
damn you have a job taht you enjoy!
i want a job that i enjoy
Underpaying musicians is such a weird and horrible trend; they saw you busk and that should have been all the evidence they need that you have the chops. You guys deserve every cent
Yeah, this sort of thing happens a ton in creative industries. People love to take advantage of musicians, artists, graphic designers, etc. for "exposure".
Content was more important than the camera’s focus, thanks for leaving that part in Burnie!
Man, that Extra Life bit when Jack was saying he's at a loss for words brought me to tears again. Such an emotional moment.
Ugh this reminds me I need to go see the ending to extra life, been watching highlights from the bits I missed but the endings are so heartfelt
As Ron Swanson said; "Don't half-ass two things. Whole-ass one thing."
HeavyHarris parks rec is amazing
This week on Ellie's Assassin Training...
Oh, wait, that's not on this week? Oh well. Back to business
This week was her training in being a stand-in/decoy Burnie. He was not impressed. She might have to re-do this one.
Who is this on Ellie's vlog?
I felt like there wasn’t enough promotion around Lazer Team 2 compared to the first one. Was it just me?
Beast Fatboy probably because LT 1 was a first for them so they pushed it.
I think YT kind of squashed the theater part because they want people to pay for YTRed to watch it. AND I WILL NOT PAY FOR YTRED AND I WILL NOT WATCH LT2 ON IT.
Really? I have already gotten an ad for LT2 on youtube, but not one for LT when it first was advertised.
Dart6422 At the end of videos they would play an ad for Lazer Team, they didn’t really do it this time
I saw the Lazer Team 2 trailer in a theater.
What the hell?!?! Get off of Ellies blog Burnie!
Nonya Biness blog?

Goddammit Burnie!
*Elyse
He's obssess with her and she might end up quitting because of that
Always enjoy the behind the scenes access Burnie gives us.
Every time I see Jack tear up I start tearing up. Dammit Jack!
Matt is adorable.
Sounds like that Ellie followed her Heart.. so congrats to ellie for doing what makes her Happy...
This and the saying yes vlog are so good. Such excellent advice in such an understandable way
Burnie, says Yes to do something and forces someone else to say yes to him so he does not have to say no... well done Burnie... well done lesson learned...
Love you Burnie. You're motivational as hell.
I really love this company. I hope to someday start something like the empire that Burnie built and having half the heart that he and his employees do.
Yes, an actual Burnie vlog!
Always love seeing Matt!
What a wholesome vlog.
Matt is so kind.
This will not mean any thing to you guys but. Its these vidoes that helped me reach out to a long lost half sister and I am trying my best to build a relationship with her one message at time. Thank you Burnie and Ellie!
Bernie...you're my Internet Dad.
The Anafront no he is the father of catbug! *passes out and hands out popcorn*
Ya should probably learn how to spell your dad's name.
Gotta love Blurnie Burns
Matt is the funniest guy and I wish we saw him more. Gold every time
Unlike many other vlogs, Burnie's vlogs have substance
Burnie since your last blog I keep saying yes to heroin but now I finally have the confidence to say NO!
The autofocus in this vlog went crazy!!
That ad really makes me wish that you could have animated sweaters.
An informed "No" can be more valuable than any yes. You will not have the doubt and regret. But it takes all the experience at "Yes" to become informed.
Matt is a beautiful boy
I'm glad I'm not the only one who enjoys that award winning novel
This is a very Burnie-heavy Ellie Vlog...
Today on life lessons with Burnie Burns . . . .
Burnie I just gotta say no to this video I just don't have the time.
Tai saying no to Zwei
That has to be a chibi episode
Love you burnie!
Burnie is describing the plot of "Yes Man". (Spoiler from 2008)
Burnie is a very wise man!
Matt is awesome. I wish he had more time to be in more content.
Burnie Vlogs, mirrored sunglasses are mandatory!

this is very relevant to me this week burnie, thanks!
Ack don't show Jack getting teary. I got teary when it first happened I don't need it again!

From a slight distance with the brightness down, it really looked like Burnie had spoons on his eyes in the thumbnail.
Hei Rooster Teeth, as a trying startup myself i have to say YES and NO to alot of things i am very happy to hear from a professional like Burnie on this matter. I love the content you guys make!
I said yes and now I have to go to the doctor to get some cream. THANKS!
Who else can't watch clips from Extra Life without getting emotional?
manual focus exists for a reason.
come for Burnie, stay for Ellie..........no Ellie........no stay
Was laser team 2 good? I watched the first one and though it was okay so I don’t know if I should pay to watch the new one
+omallykaboose The only escape from RT is death.
I don't know if you got that joke. Hopefully not.
Ray Narvaez Jr was fired.
Jeff Wilton Actually they gave him an ultimatum to turn his twitch stream into a Rooster Teeth controlled project or stop streaming and he chose to leave the company and pursue it instead because he was happier doing it
Not to mention he's probably making triple the revenue he was getting with Achievement Hunter.
Meg Turney is the only individual I know of that was fired.
0:59 I'd love to see him try to learn about pokemon.

Burnie, you should get shirtless.
From a person who's said "no" to everything, it's hard to say "yes" to anything.
Agree with Matt 1000% - why doesn't everyone have the Pokédex Deuluxe version??? XD
No bullshit, you're one of the inspirations to make videos. Wait that isn't Ellie
I loved lazer team 2 but after watching rt for so long and use to 2hr podcasts the movie felt short even at 1.5hrs
Great quality with the focus
6:50 What is this, Good Mythical Morning?!
Where can I watch extralife? I was stage crew for a play at my school when it was happening, so I couldn't watch it.
Nick Hohl Some people have probably posted it in chunks, just search it ☺
the whole 24 hrs is on twitch
shoulda said no to the stage crew
The whole thing is on youtube, with 24 videos of 1 hour each. Or you can look on youtube for extra life 2017 highlights. I think there was one by hembohero
ruclips.net/video/ArfdnBsNqMs/видео.html they've got all of it.
I want to BUY that,!!!
