I have so much amazing footage Im just new to video editing, going to work on my first video.. Kinda nervous but excited at the same time thanks for these tutorials
Sometimes I feel like I’m hate editing, because I’m so tired with junky shots (not mine) I have to work with.. and then I watch your videos like this and understand how much I love editing. Hope one day I will be free from junky videos and be able to make editing of truly beautiful videos for my own pleasure.
Completely know how you feel. The challenge between editing art vs editing work... keep going with it, we too face this same challenge. Thanks for stopping by.
You are amazing man. I have been demotivated about not having expensive camera but now after seeing your content i am super impressed. I am gonna kick off the content creation again.
Hey Jake, thanks for the video. I'm currently trying to edit a few shots that I took on my GoPro on CapCut but I'm stuck... When I import a shot that I took on 60fps, capcut puts the whole clip in slow motion, I tried setting the project to 30fps and also to 60fps before importing but it always puts the whole clip in slow motion. Do you have any idea that may be happening? Thanks!
I am desperately looking for just a way to import GoPro clips into iMovie and edit them. Any solution to that? They files are huge and they're just impossible in there!
Been watching you guys for a while now - Thank you so much for the content you prove. I've been able to make my video better each time! YOU MAKE IT FUN! Thank you! - Sending Super Thanks!
Hey jake! Thanks for the great video. I have a question regarding frame rate. If you film your slo motion shots in 60/120 FPS and export in 30 obviously for all of those clips shot in higher frame rates you are slowing them down in post so they will work on the 30fps timeline correct? What if you have 60/120 FPS shots that you don’t want to slow down in the same video? Will it then work on the exported 30fps timeline. My question is, is for slo-motion, do I need to film always separately and then switch back to 24/30fps for basic shots or can I shoot 60/120 for every clip in case I want to be able to slow any of the clips down. I’m a surfer/skim boarder and I shoot everything in 60fps because I like to have the ability to come in and out of slo-motion in the same clip. However if I export in a 60fps timeline with all 60fps footage but some of it is slo motion will that work? Or no because if I slow mo 60fps it will bring the frames down to 30fps and then export on 60 FPS it will not look good ?
I love your work and your practical advice. On that note, at 01:58 you mention slow computers for editing. Would the Macbook Air M2 be a somewhat-decent option for 30-minute long edits using footage from GoPro Hero 9 Black and DJI Mavic 3 Pro? Or would it be better to just go all the way and consider the MacBook Pro M2 1TB model?
Go all the way! Especially for 30 minute edits. That’s going to take a lot of computer processing power, consider upgrading to the 64gb or ram option +1TB solid state drive 🤘🏽
Hi. Question. Is recording on Gopro at 120fps a waste? I saw that Capcut has a 60fps limit. Do you know if there is a way to import at 120fps in capcut and improve slowmotion?
it depends if you really need the frames, slow motion can look great at 60 or 50 fps, otherwise try another editing suite like divinci resolve or premiere pro
Helpful video thanks. I'm a little confused with you exporting at 30fps when in your setup video you seemed to be shooting 25/50fps? Were these clips 30/60? I'm in the UK so unsure if I should switch to 25/50 and export at 25?
Most of my clips were captured in 60 fps, so yes, stick by that rule, depending on your camera anti flicker settings but also, test your export, in this case, the 24 fps export looked jumpy so I re-exported in 30 and it looked as shown in this video
Hey Jake, Great Video, as always. You exported in 4k but will social media like Reels and Instagram treat the 4k better, or do I need to export it in 1080p. And what will be the ideal bitrate for that? Thanks again.
I export 4k for RUclips and make a small highlight video out of it for social media like Ig and tiktok , that I export in 1080p and I give the bitrate maximum possible in the customized section which is 50000
Great tips Jake ✌ Editing can really make or break a video. You can have awesome footage but if the edit is lacking, the video will end up being mediocre at best. All the components that you mentioned are super important, music and sound effects are something many people don't focus enough on. I sometimes spend hours trying to find the right soundtrack for my videos. So much to learn, so many ways to improve, this is an awesome journey we are on! Your videos are always inspiring me to do better 🔥
Hi Jake and Anna. I hope all is doing well for you. Thx for sharing your expertise. You do well to remember the hardware prerequisites to be able to have the necessary comfort to do quality work. 😉By watching this video we understand that creativity is not only necessary when taking photos or videos but also during editing🤔. At this time it is the choice of sequences, music or the arrangement of colors that make the difference in producing the desired final result. I imagine that some are better in their choices when taking photos and videos and others will do better during editing.🤨 Now what about beautiful sequences without proper editing?🙃 When others will make an acceptable result from very average plans thanks to a more judicious assembly. Seeing myself as a beginner I will try to be creative in both phases of the process.😇 I still have a lot to learn.😜 Damn I signed up for your Master Classes some time ago I have to get started soon..😉
Hi Phillipe, we've been busy at work editing our upcoming travel film for you to enjoy tomorrow! Hope it showcases all of the lessons we've taught in this video and all of the lessons you're about to learn in our masterclass :)
Great question Brandon. CapCut for Desktop wasn't available when we produced our masterclass tutorials however we still highly recommend working in adobe rush as it works across devices, so you can start editing on mobile and pick up the same project on the desktop version. CapCut doesn't offer this. However adobe rush does form part of the adobe subscription model so if you're also interested in Adobe Lightroom, photoshop, after effects, etc etc, this is a great bundle of software for create professionals. We often use the whole suite so it's suits our needs. On the flip side, there are plenty of great features that CapCut has nailed, especially with it's free version. So for beginners, we'd recommend saving money on subscription services to work on your flow, rush does offer a free trial, and capcut also offers a subscription model so it's really up to you, try them both, see which suite you prefer and when you're editing improves or you're looking for more features, then jump to a more professional editing suite like Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro or Davinci Resolve. Hope this answers everything

No. We use Sony to shoot ARoll, anything with depth of field is shot on a mirrorless camera
