Can only add one or two things to all the great Comments here. I love the way Todd hits a crash cymbal with his right hand. Looks like he is pitching a baseball. So athletic. And I took a 6 month course with him online on Drumeo in 2019. He said he was not very good at double pedals on the bass drum. What? That was amazing toward the end. Also as some have said Todd is a very humble and nice human being. He has earned the right to be an a..hole being so talented and musical. But he is not. Just wow.
@Steven Pounsett Virgil Donati would destroy Thomas Lang with just his pinky finger Look bruh, can we just stop this "I have the bigger d measuring contest" in drumming. Just because you know some drummer who are way better than you or I can ever be in our lifetimes doesn't mean you should brag about it on the internet. Stop living vicariously through Thomas Lang. You never contributed anything
I just piddled a little! LOL! Holy crap! Have you EVER seen someone tear apart a kit with such precision AND power playing traditional (let alone any grip) ... purely amazing!
I'm so glad that Pearl picked you to play for their 75th anniversary video. But it's no surprise either. You are an absolutely amazing drummer. Thank you Todd.🙏🏻
IMO This is undoubtedly one of the best solos of all time. Mr. Sucherman, you are a master of your craft. So musical. Thank you for this video. And thank you Pearl for picking him.
I only "discovered" Todd about 2 years ago. He has become, almost overnight, my favorite drummer. Neil will always be #1, but Todd is a FANTASTIC example of how good you can be when you practice (and I'm sure some natural talent doesn't hurt either) and love doing it. Not to mention, he's my age..... Fantastic piece, Todd. Thanks for sharing it. PS - The rim-diddy is just fantastic.
What a solo! Love the sound / tuning of the toms. And the solo is very musical and not boring at all for a long drum solo despite the fact it's technical too... Todd Suchermann is one of the greatest nowadays !
It’s really a pleasure to watch such a great and kind human being smashing the drums with such a musical feel in everything he does technically ! This is one of my all time fav drummers , thanks for exist Todd!
Watching Joey J videos just now. Not discounting his contributions to music at all but, people are calling him the best ever. Then I watch this. RIP Joey. You will be missed.
Todd could play pots and pans empty 5 gallon buckets and trash can lids and still sound amazing.one of the best out there.hopefully I get a chance to see him live with styx.
This guy is a monster player. Truly an honor to watch you play. From the beginnings winning several guitar center drum off's to playing with the Falling Wallendas on to holding down the fort for Styx. . Several projects between. Pearl Drums couldn't have asked for a better player to represent them than you. Todd.. Happy Anniversary to Pearl Drums. Truly awesome and an inspiration to all Drummers..
Todd and the sound/tone of his drums are the reason that I’m about to throw down on a Pearl Masterworks kit!!! They just sound soooo buttery! Congrats, too, to Pearl for the longevity! Cheers all!
@@MrFg1980 AWESOMESAUCE! I can’t wait. I actually have a consultation appointment with Todd to discuss all the “drum geek” stuff before I throw down so that I can ensure I’ll get what I envision. Todd is such a fantastic Ambassador for Pearl and for drumming in general! Thanks!
Everyone.....we must BOW down to the 3 clearly better drummers who have seen and heard this and pressed the thumbs down button.......THEY ARE THE MASTERS look forward to seeing and hearing thier drumming skills........
Mr. Sucherman you are one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE DRUMMERS!!! You just seem like a friend I would have been hanging with during my days growing up in Schaumburg Il. Great guy, Great attitude, Unbelievable Talent. Seeing you play at Guitar Center several months ago, in Lake Forest, Ca. was one of the best times I have had in years. Styx id still one of the best bands EVER!!!!! God Bless you, your health, and your Family. Love you Maaaaan:)
HOLY MOLY! Just when I'm thoroughly convinced you are the best drummer in the world, you come out with something BETTER. Damn! I hear the homage to your solo from Drumeo, I hear the homage to Mr. Smith. I see everything that you have taught us in Rock Drumming Masterclass, all of which we are all still working on trying to play at half that speed! The double bass at 6:15 is absolutely out of this world. Once again, you have outdone yourself my friend. IN(f-ing)CREDIBLE. We're not worthy, we're not worthy!
Wow! I first heard the triplet bass drum section at the end from Steve Smith on the Journey album Captured. You just took that to the moon! So awesome! You never cease to amaze me. Such an inspiration.
Everything was so good. The drum sound, the lighting, but most of all the creative playing. That 3/4 groove is contagious! That will be stuck in my head all day
Grande Grande todd.👌
One of my favourite solos a masterpiece. They stylistic difference between you and Neil Peart with the same perfection of rudimentary skill. I would love to listen to you and him speak on the art.
That was awesome! You won't find better - Todd is a great ambassador for Pearl, Sabian, Remo and ProMark - and a great ambassador for the whole drumming community.
Todd people are always trying to say the best ever. You simply cannot, but in talking of the greats, your name sure has to be mentioned. Beautiful work here! By the way I love my Pearl Drums too 😉
Dang! ... DAAang! ... IIIIiiiiEEEEeeeee!!!! He is truly justified to play a large kit. Most drummers with large kits like that, can't justify having them.
You are truly amazing! The stuff you do with your kick, those "fully automatic" 32nd notes are just insane! I have trouble THINKING that fast never mind PLAYING that fast WITH MY FEET!!
Amazing as always. Musical, flowing, and sounds incredible, a song unto its own. Todd makes it look effortless, simply a master of the instrument! Thanks as always Todd for sharing!
People use words like underrated, or not as well known to describe you, and your playing all the time.I’ll just say massively appreciated. Been listening since your start. I took my 13 year old son to the Cylclorama tour in Loredo, TX. Dynamite show. I’ve seen Styx 7 times since then. I know you were with Styx before that, I loved the compilation you arranged, I’d love to hear it again.
Yeah what I like with this solo (drum solos can get very boring most of the time) is that it's incredibly musical. That's what it's all about: Beyond great technique, chops and stamina, his musicality is what makes it so special to listen to.
I would love to see a gathering of the great drummers of today get hooked up to a brainwaves machine to see how everything lights up in the brain as they play. Todd, Terry Bozzio, Dennis Chambers, Dave Weckl, etc....and compare the different readouts from the various drummers.
Look without a doubt he's one of the best drummers in the world if not the best. I know there's a lot of fast and innovative drummers out there, but he's hard to keep up with. I think Rush should get back together and use him as the drummer. Neil would approve I'm sure
i am in awe every time I listen to Todd ... unbelievable what he does
Todd is arguably the best drummer alive today. Power, precision, versatility, and groove... He really has it all at a superior level!
@ross smithe. Totally agree with you, 100%. He truly is that good.
You might like Gavin Harrison.
vinnie colaiuta
Insanely musical. Now that's a drum solo.

The aliens have arrived and Todd is their leader! Truly one of the greatest musicians ever to play the drums.
I agree with you 100000000%
I can think of others like Dave Weckl or Vinnie, but yeah he is truely one of the greatest
@Steven Pounsett Virgil Donati would destroy Thomas Lang with just his pinky finger

@Steven Pounsett Lang can’t hold a candle stick to Todd! Todd is the man. I can’t stand Lang’s drumming. Todd is so smooth and perfect timing.
Not just a solo, but a composition. Brilliant!
I just piddled a little! LOL! Holy crap! Have you EVER seen someone tear apart a kit with such precision AND power playing traditional (let alone any grip) ... purely amazing!
words can't even describe how ridiculously great this cat is.

Neil will always be my favorite, too. But, this was awesome--over 7 minutes, NO ELECTRONICS!
What a solo! Love the sound / tuning of the toms. And the solo is very musical and not boring at all for a long drum solo despite the fact it's technical too... Todd Suchermann is one of the greatest nowadays !

Incredible, and wonderful hommage to Tony Williams !

He's the best drummer many never heard of.
Your talent on a set of drums is so far off the chain, it's in another universe. Awesome solo, Todd!!!!

Wow..just wow...tasty tributes to Steve Smith and Simon Phillips in there too..amazing
Such a badass drummer it's amazing that he gotten better.👍
Monster!!!! My favourite drummer!!!!!!
Wow! I first heard the triplet bass drum section at the end from Steve Smith on the Journey album Captured. You just took that to the moon! So awesome! You never cease to amaze me. Such an inspiration.
I heard the same thing, and recognized that he was playing a portion of Steve Smith's drum solo off of Captured too. Glad someone pointed that out.
Beautiful stuff, so melodic but yourchops are insane at the same time. One word- tasty!😎🤟🥁
wow todd never disappoints ...best drum sound out there ..
Best sounding Pearl i have ever heard..
Everything was so good. The drum sound, the lighting, but most of all the creative playing. That 3/4 groove is contagious! That will be stuck in my head all day
Thanks, Jason!
Oh wow. Thanx for that. So melodic. Many great ideas. Man! Wow again.

Smoking Todd, absolutely smoking. And very powerful/commanding
One of my favourite solos a masterpiece. They stylistic difference between you and Neil Peart with the same perfection of rudimentary skill. I would love to listen to you and him speak on the art.
This is masterful!!!!
Thank you!
Been a huge fan since '96 when I saw you with Styx at SPAC. Huge inspiration Todd. Thanks man.
That was awesome!

absolutely fabulous!!! thank you Todd.
Anything Todd plays always brings great joy to my soul!

Has to be my favourite drummer. Technique ,independence and creativity is amazing
So many great things happening in that solo ! This is awesome Todd ! :D
Todd- LOVE your chops, dude! IF Rush were ever to reform/tour again.....You would be a perfect fit.
Starting to become one of my favs.
Your creativity is always amazing. So enjoyable to watch. Cheers!
I enjoyed every second of this solo. Thank you sir!
I always enjoy your playing Todd...killer as always
I bet that room smells goddamn amazing
It does!!!
Dang! ... DAAang! ... IIIIiiiiEEEEeeeee!!!!
He is truly justified to play a large kit. Most drummers with large kits like that, can't justify having them.
Todd is the first I ever saw using a left foot clave ostinato. It blew my mind. The man has at least two brains. 👉🧠🧠
What a fantastic sounding kit and performance!
Thanks!
Such a melodic, technically profound solo.. A joy to watch and listen to ❤️
I saw Todd in a clinic a few years back. Had to reset my jaw at the end! Such a talent who makes the drums sound so incredible musical.
The Master at his craft!!
You are truly amazing! The stuff you do with your kick, those "fully automatic" 32nd notes are just insane! I have trouble THINKING that fast never mind PLAYING that fast WITH MY FEET!!
1 of the best solos ever
Amazing as always. Musical, flowing, and sounds incredible, a song unto its own. Todd makes it look effortless, simply a master of the instrument! Thanks as always Todd for sharing!
OMG!!! You’re my FAVORITE!!! I mean that!! I would love to hear you do a duet with Steve Smith. Heck, make it a trio and throw Steve Gad in there too.
Love the tuning of your toms. Very musical.
People use words like underrated, or not as well known to describe you, and your playing all the time.I’ll just say massively appreciated. Been listening since your start. So wholesome. Todd is a drummer’s drummer.
Only a handful of drummers I can tolerate soloing. Todd is in that stratosphere.
Masterclass in dynamics.
All the cooped up practice has made you dangerous! Love your playing!
Best solo I've heard in a long time. Incredible amount of difficulty
I broke a sweat just watching the video! Awesome as always Todd.
Fantastico! Immenso batterista.❤
Amazing as usual, Todd!!!😎👍
Yeah what I like with this solo (drum solos can get very boring most of the time) is that it's incredibly musical. That's what it's all about: Beyond great technique, chops and stamina, his musicality is what makes it so special to listen to.
Will be seeing you soon for lesson's soon , on Drumeo Todd!!!!!!!
What freakin’ monster player Todd is!
HOT DAMN!!! 🔥❤️🥁🔥❤️🥁
Thanks, Don!
@@toddsucherman you bet, brutha. What a great improv utilizing groove, musicality, chops, dynamics, and lighting (lol!). It was very...romantic. 😬
5:44
That is immeasurably satisfying
Todd is the man.
Bravo! Greetings from Chile!
Love it... Love your playing. That 12/8 section towards the end sounds like you got a little inspiration from Steve Smith...!!!
I had to share this on FB Todd. Amazingly fascinating! So good!!!!
Still waiting on a tour of the room 😃
I would love to see a gathering of the great drummers of today get hooked up to a brainwaves machine to see how everything lights up in the brain as they play. Todd, Terry Bozzio, Dennis Chambers, Dave Weckl, etc....and compare the different readouts from the various drummers.
Amazing tone.
I love the subdued lighting for this video compared to the others; which I obviously like also.

Bloody hell!! That was a bit good!
Cool Solo! I like how you use 12 bar sections and 12/8
Magnificent!
Well, HOLY SHIT!!!😮
