Naw, the door 🚪 was wide open. He was loose under braking. I thought he came down onto you, but I guess you’re right about Netcode mimicking a collision that didn’t actually happen. You can’t blame yourself for network error.
Although a bit of a "dive bomb" on your part Dave, I think the main thing that contributed to the #4 car's spin was him getting into the back of the #3 car on corner entry.

What was the reason you did not want to do touring cars. Would have thought it was right up your street?
For the incident I think there was space and then the other guy closed the door. He/she as entitled to do that because you were not alongside. But really on lap 1 best to give a bit of space. So I’d go with racing incident.
I like touring cars, but there hasn't been enough participation for me to take a proper look.

I think you’re throwing a dive bomb on lap 1 to make up for getting an awful start and a guy ends up wrecked. That guy probably should have covered that move off, but in the end I think you would be upset if that had happened to you. Start in the back imo

It was a bit 50/50. He should have paid better attention, but you also did send it a little - if someone is not paying attention, that send would have surprised them, of course.
Yeah I think the gap you went for was reasonable, if a little bit on the risky side. The incident seems to have come down to netcode and him colliding with the car in front first.
No starting penalty for you.

This is the second TCR race at oulton I've watched today.

Kind of an optimistic overtake, but he left enough room for a truck to slide in there sideways, stewards ruling............RACING INCIDENT, NO FURTHER ACTION! 😁
Once he bumped the guy in front, his car got unstable and "netcoded" with yours. Not guilty.
You forced a move that wasn’t going to be good but he did leave the door open. All you need to do is do more TT to get the SR up lol. I don’t do official but I did start LMU and did 5 races at Spa. It was wreck avoidance lol I wouldn’t mind doing officail irqcing again but I’m way better then my 2k irating since it was from 2010 lol. League guy here anyway.
Netcode shemht code. 3 CARS braking and you want to make it 1 more. Theres a fine line between good idea bad idea. Racing code suggests you had the right to do so. Certainly Senna would agree. If you pulled it off you are the man. Your asking way to much from the cars ahead. They cant look forwards and rear view at same time. Again pull it off and it's a highlight. Likely you would get mugged after that turn tho. Odds were against u is how I seen it. Too much of a risky move. Worked in your favour tho. In short cant wait for the next attack from the back 😅

I think it was a very close call, and that was an ambitious lunge. However, since I enjoy watching you start from the back, I'm going to say it was your fault. Straight to jail! Next time, start the race from the back.

Watching the replay, he hit the other car prior to the "net code" incident, which pushed him across your nose, so a racing incident no harm no foul

First one wasn't your fault. I'm not sure I would have gone for that, but there was enough room. It looks like he got loose when he bumped the car in front, which caused him to swerve a bit and then netcode.
Second one was your fault, although it looks like he braked quite early. Your distraction might have worked too well.
Hey Dave, long time viewer here. My opinion is that you were frustrated by your start but you dove in on cold tires. That was no mans land at the start. Too many cars around to expect he was gonna be fully aware you were gonna take away his line. Second incident was just a racing deal but i think you tried to deep fake him into the chicane but you lost track of your braking point. My thoughts are start at the back next race , soley because you should have practiced the start if you got pole!! Cheers mate from Canada🍻
With iRacing, you made the mistake of not overtaking from the neighbouring postcode, so bad is the netcode issues. So, you need to start the next race all the way back in Ireland as punishment.
That’s TCR racing, gap opened up and you were there, it’s a hard consequence, but the fact iRacing only gave you a 1x is a tell too

@Dave Cam I'd say that was a racing incident because he came down into as you started to get the smallest amount of understeer, incident 100%.... edit: just finished the video and i'd have to agree netcode caused the incident
From the helicopter view it looks like he nerfed the guy in front of him which destabilized his car and that was enough to get into netcode land. I'd say you're ok to qualify for the next one.
I'll give you a Racing Incident, but I think if you got your front axle to his rear axle then you were driving it like Senna ;)
You did nothing wrong, again this net code problem at times is really difficult to deal with. I might give this series a go though, looked like fun.
Caves in the whole back of the car. "Your cars fine. We'll go back and pick your bumper up after the race. No worries."
No penalty for that first incedent. You thought you had a gap and the network didn't think you did. Second one, he braked early. Loved that start. You didn't have the fastest lap during the race. The only part of the perfect race was pole.

The way it looked during the race I thought it was your fault, but watching the replay I think without netcode pushing them into your line that you would have been alongside the car at turn in. It’s on the margins but I think the call ought to go your way.

I blame it on you there Dave, yes there's a gap but you know what's about to happen and you also know you'll probably benefit from it and he won't. I also understand your situation and why you made the decision to go for it, you try to make out as much as you can for the bad start. If you came back from the back of the field and you had a positive feeling, you probably would've wait for a better opportunity, I think we all do it, we're all aggressive when we try to make up for something

@Dave Cam Each TCR has a different launch technique. For the Elantra use dual clutch with bitepoint set to 15%, launch RPM set to 7000 RPM (drop it down to 6700 if you think grip is poor). For the Civic just go full throttle and dump the clutch. Its been forever since I drove the Audi but it has no clutch, so if I remember correctly you just set launch RPM, build revs in neutral, and shift into 1st on green. All the cars also have a hand brake for holding the car on launches but I find no benefit to using it (may vary depending on your auto-clutch settings in iRacing).

It’s not the incident that needs looking at … it’s how anyone responds once frustrated. This is one thing that helps growth in consistency. Somthing personally I had to overcome.

The first laps was classic of all racers SIM OR IRL after making a silly mistake. Pushing hard trying to make up for it instantly.

I'm extremely lucky to be able to say I've had the chance to drive a TCR in real life. They are like shopping trolleys with a big engine and a steering wheel! Absolutely unbelievable fun!
Remember, if you ever feel useless, think about the poor people who fit indicators to BMW's and rear wings to TCR's! 😂
As a former 'real race director' you have to start in the back in your next race. The reason is you made first contact even if the other guy was outside of you he was in the racing line and you punted him (by accident but still you punted him) So see you start from the back although that is good and fun to watch you come through the field.

15% clutch on pedal and 100% on a button is what I do and grind the clutch a bit, just did the fixed and gained 4 places on the start alone, 2 went off a bit further up but the 2nd place got spun in front of me, took my race to the scrapyard
Off tracked the second lap in qualifying which made the race a bit more interesting. Starts are a pain in the Elantra!

No benefits really, it's just a bit nicer using whatever shifter the real car has 😁

Turbo lag on those smaller engines, no power until they get up on the turbo, gotta rev the hell out of it starting off. I totally thought that was your fault before you replayed it, damn netcode killed him.

Great race! The starts in the Hyundais are clutch 20% and slowly let out till about 3k rpm then fully off. Civic is the only one you don’t really need to clutch in and the Audi I go to second gear and start in that. The first incident was all netcode. I don’t think anything malicious there
