“Johnny Football will one day be bigger in Cleveland than his buddy LeBron ever was.” - Skip Bayless
Skip Bayless never wrong. What a jerk.
That take aged horribly. And the one that the houston texans would rue the day they didnt draft johnny manziel. Clowney should have been better, but he was miles better than him.
@@universe-ie2mk Clowney was a way better pick then Johnny but a bust of a pick at number #1. They could've had Aaron Donald or Khalil Mack, and those are just the 2 defensive players at a similar position in that draft. Texans D with Watt & Donald on the d-line? Uh-oh for everyone else.
Now he’s dying on the mayfield hill
Yall know he does this shit on purpose right.
It's called media.
For reference before this game, this was the last time the browns were over .500 before week 3, 2020. Crazy how it was nearly 6 years between these.
It was a rough few years
Here's an even crazier stat....In the last 23 years, the Browns have played in exactly 3 playoff games. They are 1-2 in those games. The Texans, a team that didn't exist until 3 years after Cleveland's re-entry into the league have doubled those numbers, appearing in 6 playoff games with a 4-2 record. Let's see if DeShaun Watson, a guy with ties to both teams, can help turn that around....
This was also the week after their longest streak at first place in the division ended.
Johnny Football was definitely the embarrassment of the day but man the Browns run defense tried their hardest to be the lowlight of the game.
That Bengals team from 2014 was actually pretty stacked especially that o line with whitworth was prolly the best O line in football
@@joeygrant1088 agreed but stop saying prolly, just say probably so you don't sound like a fool
@@nathanielbath1801 gatekeeping words over the internet ? Dork

Now: the second most notable name in Fan Controlled Football, behind Terrell Owens.😂
Make that third most notable, now that Michael Vick is joining the league.😂
@@coryshannon3815 Not anymore. Maybe next year Vick will play.

Isn't that the one where a fan jumped 30 ft to catch an XP ball?
I remember this game I loved how the bengals kept using Johnny’s celebration against him
I remember that. One guy couldn't help himself and did the taunt right in Johnny's face.
I remember this happening. I am a Bengals fan in MN, so I did not get to see it. But I know a lot of the country got it and Fox had their number two announcer crew on the call. To see the end result was pure joy for me as a Bengals fan. I hated the hype for Manziel; the dude was called 'Johnny Football' and he never did a thing in the NFL. Another sad chapter in the long book of sad chapters for the Browns.
In his Defense (no pun intended) if Johnny had a GOOD Offensive Line, he would have done Much Better! (No, I'm Not an A&M Fan - I Bleed Scarlet & Gray!)
“Hyped up QB” 😂😂 why they cook manziel like that
Cos he hyped himself up. Let your talent talk, not your mouth.
The talent was there, but abysmal mechanics, horrific work ethic and well-documented off field problems sunk a career before it could ever start. At least he's sober and alive now
he also had absolutely zero patience in the pocket. he was a recipe for failure in the league since day 1
Might have had a better chance if he went anywhere else but Cleveland, even with his flaws. That offensive line was atrocious.
@@kkogge05 frankly, it wasn't even "horrible patience" but rather terrible decision making. He so often would make the wrong choice between running or staying in the pocket too long dependent on where he might find the big play instead of taking what he could get. In this game, one great example is the bootleg where he has a straight shot run for the first, but rather attempts a deep pass which fails.
What, namely, was bad about his mechanics? Don't say anything about cross-body throws, few could make throws like he could at TA&M
Haha he’s not sober
Some notes from this game about Manziel:
Good:
-great quickness and agility. Can make people miss in and outside of the pocket
-good ability to throw on the run. Loves to extend plays and is good at it. Can complete passes to recievers with pressure directly in his face
-good striaghtline speed. Can be a part of the run game
-quick release. Helps with timings and fitting the ball through tight windows
Bad:
-abysmal pocket awareness. Has no idea when to step up or out. If receivers aren't open, he bails from the outside every time.
-doesn't theow the ball with tons of velocity
-has no internal clock, pressure will almost always hit home if from behind him
-overall mechanics are poor. Maintains an "independent contractor." Not enough moving parts with his throwing motion
-decision making is all over the place. Is willing to fit the ball into nonexistent windows, leading to turnovers
-does not go through reads. If the first read isn't open, he either forces it or scrbles from outside the pocket
-maintains poor control of the ball. Way too loose in the pocket, which explains fumble issues
-lack of knowledge of the playbook. If you can tell that a QB doesn't know the playbook just by watching him, there's a serious problem
Final eval:
Manziel had some talent, but had a multitude of on-field and off-field issues coming out of college. I believe he was always overrated, and with his lack of work ethic and care for the game, the Cleveland Browns organization, and his teammates, he spiraled out of control and it makes sense why he never made it in the league.
he should've always been a project QB coming out of college, whatever scouts thought otherwise should've been fired. It's so easy to see that so much of what he did in college was either due to having such a good o line/receiver corp at A&M or simply being more athletic than college athletes, and anyone with a brain could've seen that.
you have to admit tho, even if he was extremely polished the browns still would've done bad, they had no consistent receivers except for josh gordon, an overall terrible o line and lack of running back play. No QB can succeed without at least a decent supporting cast.
Dafuq?
Only reason Johnny had college success was playing against weak defenses. Knew he wouldn’t make it as pro
I remember belly-laughing for 5 minutes when the Browns drafted him.
I didn't hear the "experts" opinion, but I can't believe anyone thought he was more draftable than Derek Carr for instance.
He spent his college career throwing to wide-open 6-5 Mike Evans.
Total fraud, and anyone with eyes could see it.
In November 2014 the Browns were 7-4 and were looking as a playoff team but they managed to lose their remaining 5 games in a row to end 7-9
Go pack go
And it took them half a decade to recover from the collapse.
That’s just browns culture for you
I would be so mad if I were a veteran on the Browns who had to put up this nonsense. I remember this game and was 100% confident that Manziel would lose in disastrous fashion. I bet a coworker on it and won ten dollars
The funny thing is the Cleveland Browns paid six figures to study who the best quarterback in that draft was. The people that Cleveland paid the six figures to told the Cleveland Browns to pick Teddy Bridgewater. Oof..... And Trent Richardson, the guy who was in that trade haul to get Manzel, became a serviceable running back for that Colts team that made it to the AFC Championship game.
I mean manzel was a sure fire bust but Richardson was a bust as well. Dude was hyped up to be a league great and was average throughout his short career. Bridgewater is a mid tier qb at best. Poor man’s Alex smith. Better than manziel no doubt but let’s not pretend it’s trubisky over mahomes
Nfl without teddy is so incredibly sad
I like Bridgewater but he hasn't done anything really. He was okay & up & coming with Minnesota, good with Saints, since then journeyman. Bad teams sure but what has he added to the equation for them? He was so good in Carolina they traded for Darnold.
@@christopherengel7436 And Darnold made them even worse that had to bring Cam back then draft yet another QB 😂 and those inbred panthers fans really believe in Matt Rule 🤣
Richardson was definitely not serviceable and wasnt even starting for that Colts team that year...man was out of the NFL only one year after Manziel....both are all time draft busts
The day the Bengals returned the favor of the embarrassing defeat earlier in the season. The fact it was Johnny Football's first start was icing on the cake.
Johnny Football was the most overhyped thing I’ve ever seen. He wasn’t even that good to begin with
Wrong
I mean he was a good college qb but a terrible NFL prospect. Dude should've been a 4th round pick
Yeah, they just gave him that Heisman because they felt bad
@@mjf2891 Manziel did what no college redshirt freshman was able to accomplish
@@standyourground9973 its easy when you can just chuck it up to Mike Williams to bail you out. Plus, he had a RB that was also drafted.
I still remember this like it was yesterday. All the INSUFFERABLE hype around him and how he was gonna set the league on fire. And then the game started……and I laughed till I was crying.
That was a big part of the issue imo. TOO MUCH hype and way too much pressure on him.
Lol even NFL Throwback is ruthless with Johnny Football lowlights
Jeremy Hill was a decent HB. So sad everyone remembers him for the fumble vs Pittsburgh
And "winning" a Super Bowl with the Patriots- even though he'd been on injured reserve.
Bum Manzel played horrible one of the biggest bust in the nfl, how did no one question that bum if he should play WR 🤣
Not athletic enough obviously
@@bodombeastmode nah he just can’t hit the side of a barn
@@calcaleb7041 how does that have to do with playing receiver tho
@@sexbot1996 because another Heisman winner who didn’t have anyone close to Mike Evens was asked to try out at WR. Also he didn’t have to beg a team to draft him the first round 🤣
@@calcaleb7041 and a couple people out of thousands isn’t really a good example.
Imagine having Kyle Shanahan as your offensive coordinator and getting shut out, not able to put up 3 lousy points with a field goal. Way to go, Browns.
Kyle shanahan wasn’t that guy back then
Mike McDaniel was also part of the coaching staff. Just a pathetic performance
Remember when Skip Bayless said Johnny Manziel was gonna be bigger than LeBron in Cleveland
Man, these Bengals teams were so good and that includes the offensive line. Sucks that they never won any playoff games. I miss that offensive line. Bodine, Whitworth, Zeitler, Boling, and Smith.
0:18 that graphic is crazy; the whole division is above .500 in week 15
AFC North doesn't play around
It's probably gonna be the same this year
@@donnyjames8409 not for the steelers
MariosNum OneFan lol you’re a clown for that. Steelers will be second at least
@@stackonez7182 you’re crazy. They gonna finish last. Every other team in the division has superstar players and a talented roster except for the steelers
To this day the worst performance I've ever seen from the quarterback position. I didn't think Johnny would be a good player but I never imagined he could've been THIS bad.
It's always fun watching undeserved players with huge ego's fall flat on their backside, especially the self proclaimed "Johnny Football"🤣
HOF bound Johnny Football shows us a CLINIC on why he's the GOAT
Imagine Johnny Manziel opens up RUclips later, sees this, then shuts his laptop.
That just sums up how seriously Johnny Manziel took his career: 12:37
I remember how much “Money Manziel”was overhyped for this game and how they were going to take it to the Bengals. As a fan, absolute joy to see Cincy not only shut down, but shut out Cleveland in their stadium. #WhoDey
Bo Callahan would of been better from draft day the movie lmfao
And then the browns get a pinch better over the years and now own the Bengals , call it the circle of life if you will
@@hoodiejelo6456 sure the browns have owned the Bengals in these past few years but cmon man Bengals just made a strong superbowl push and have a bright future as well
@@hoodiejelo6456 couldn’t have said it better 😂
I skipped to a random point in the video and saw Manziel throw an interception. That about sums it up.
This game was a microcosm of overhyped running quarterbacks.
I can't say more about Johnny Manziel, after all, a great QB at Texas Agricultural & Mechanical College became a disaster of a debut as a starting QB for the Browns.
Ya Texas a&m flashes money to recruits but comes up like manziel as a college program
In retrospect it's easy to see that a good chunk of Manziel's production in college was due to the talent around him. He had *four* future 1st round picks on that offensive line, and was throwing to a future All-Pro WR.
Browns got their revenge with Fields’s debut vs them in 2021. Fields already has a better career than Manziel but man was that game ugly.
It’s funny cause he wasn’t good enough even for the CFL.
And he talks shit about Mayfield. Mayfield got us to the playoffs and won. And now they're screwing up Mayfield with that fruitcake Watson. Will they ever learn their lesson.
Green vs Haden was always a dog fight. It was such a fun matchup to watch
I still can't believe how awful and wasted potential Manziel was in NFL. But what i can't believe even more is how we was used late in the season. 7-6 and you put a rookie in there? Just bad management. Same reason why Broncos crumbled in 2006 when Shanahan switched from Plummer to Cutler and cost them a playoff spot
Hard to believe that in two years time this will be 10 years ago.
What’s crazy is that the 2014 Browns we’re not bad to that point. They were 6-3 at one point, played good D and had a solid 1-2 punch at RB with Terrance West and Isiah Crowell. Unfortunately Brian Hoyer (who was solid in the 1st half of the season) fell off of a Cliff and Manziel was awful, fall to 7-9. What’s sad is that this would Cleveland’s best team until 2020.
Technically the 2018 team had a better record too
"The Staph Infection know as JOHNNY FOOTBALL! (DJ Airhorn)"
-UrinatingTree 2016
I agree, Johnny football was soooooo overrated
And his inbreds fan boys gave nothing but excuses the whole year even when he was arrested 😂😅
You know it's a bad QB when Kyle Shanahan can't work enough magic with him to at least get a playoff spot.😂
Andy dalton had a passer rating of 2.0 against the browns in Cincinnati that year
I’ll never forget how pissed I was when we drafted that clown. I wanted either Sammy Watkins or Derek Carr. Then we traded down from the 4th overall pick
Remember watching that game what an embarrassment thank God the franchise finally turned around
Johnny manziel was just bad but his debut wasn’t easy having to scramble out the pocket everytime, WRs dropping some passes and that fan base expecting him to be a hall of famedr im his first game
anyone who thought Johnny would make it in the nfl.....no one can save you!
This and Go Birds! 🦅
So interesting how some QBs just can’t sit in the pocket with it collapsing around them and make a throw
THE biggest NFL Draft Bust of all time! #JohnnyBust
I generally root for the Browns, I love an underdog story (I’m a Vikings fan, so I live it already), but I did not during the era (more like the minor setback) of Johnny Manziel. I’m glad he didn’t pan out. He needed to be knocked down a peg and his time in Cleveland and lack of ANY interest afterwards did that, at least to some extent. And then he flamed out of the CFL and the AAF
As a lifelong Browns fan, this was the beginning of the darkest period ever. The GM forcing Johnny to play, Kyle Shannahan and Mike McDaniel wasted their time here, the beginning signs of the 1-31 happening. I knew we were screwed when Kyle made a PowerPoint highlighting everything that needed to change with the franchise on the way out. Oh and don't forget about Josh Gordon as the biggest WHAT IF EVER!
Ohhhh this was the same game Jeremy Hill got face shoved by a Browns fan 😂😂🤣🤣. I loved every bit of this game as a Bengals fan.
His passer rating would have been better had he just spiked it into the ground every play.
I saw the number 2 knew immediately who it was
I could had imagined how frustrated the browns offensive players had to be. From the clip I watched, the line gave him enough time, he just couldn't read and put the ball at the right spot. What a failure this draft had become.
Baker proved that Johnny could’ve found a decent starting role IMO. It’s a shame his demons ruined his potential.
Johnny Manziel might've been something if he took life and the game more seriously instead he's slinging the football for some janky live action e-sports thing?
Now he's using those hands ✋ on hobos in an alley
Should have never did a QB change. Manzeil was never ready
Browns will repeat history when they move on from baker BROWNS WILL BE THE BROWNS
He might have been good but as we saw that perfect throw was dropped
One good throw don’t make you a good QB bro
@@aldowilliams4765 I know he still good I just think the browns where the problem
I went with my uncle to this game, we left with 3 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter, this game was pathetic
Where tickets over price since Johnny football was starting??
@@nfgpunk6517 no, we bought the tickets months ahead of time, before the season even started
@@markrobertson2196 Good move. They had to be expensive once Johnny was announced to start. Like close to playoff game money.
I remember this manziel was spotted at a party the night before this game he was probably hungover Thats probably most the time he played
Johnny football was a fratboy myth that never showed talent in college aside from being some mediocre athlete running around and chucking the ball up to Mike Evans
Johnny Football was not ready 😂
I actually think the o line failed him here. And the dropped passes didn't help.
They picked the wrong time to start manziel against a good bengals team.
Kyle Shanahan must've wanted to retire from coaching after this season
I remember the hype for Johnny Trashziel
One of my favorite bengals game
That bengals team was solid no cap
I Don't blame Johnny... He was Trying to make something Happen with a Crappy Team. If he had a Decent Line, he could have been Awesome.
Yeah, Don't waste "our" time saying I'm an A&M Fan. I'm a BUCKEYE! Proud EVERY YEAR (and sometimes Glad we don't make it to the Playoffs!) I'd Rather WIN a Bowl Game than get Beat in The Playoffs!
He had Joe Thomas and Alex Mack, he needed some fuckin receivers that could make some plays. Dude was throwing to Travis Benjamin and Gary Barnidge lol
NFL Throwback Request:

If the Browns would’ve came out after pre season and said we’re 100% going with Brian hoyer as the starter and kept that energy the whole year they would’ve made the playoffs. That was a good enough browns team to do it but too many distractions
The Bengals were up 23 to 0 with 2 minutes left in the game and they had the ball and still had Andy Dalton in playing quarterback. He played all the way to the end of a blowout win
In fairness to Johnny Manziel the defense put a rookie making his first start in the NFL in a 17-0 hole by the beginning of the 2nd quarter. Veterans struggle when they have to press could you imagine making your first start and have to?
With Kyle Shanahan as well….. Johnny was a Day 3 talent at best in terms of attitude. Christ!
Bro wtf was he supposed to do he was immediately sacked on half of his snaps
If it’s brown flush it down!
It’s not all Johnny , his o line was bad, his Wide Receiving core is bad, bad coach, horrible defense
God bless you guys
Manziel Would’ve Been Better On The Team Now Than The Team He Had Back Then
Here I thought my Cowboys was about to draft him than Zack Martin and it was right choice for Zack becoming all pro guard than bust ass Johnny
This was on fox...where they put on nfc related games. This was so much hype.
Manziel 🤡🤡🤡
This is how we should always always always beat the Browns!
I love this team!
Man even when Johnny does something right his line fails him or his receivers drop the ball
Manziel wasn't even the biggest waste if talent on that team. Josh Gordon was a beast. Could have been a great if he kept his head on straight
To be fair he got no help from his offensive line but I'm not a fan
Lousy WRs on both sides too

To be fair Bengals we're a top 10 defense that year
Johnny football will forever be a tragic thing
If he was the best QB he would've been starting QB
He was a bust BEFORE he left college. I called it. Watch his back yard throwing style and scrambling timing. I said it wouldn't translate to the NFL, plus he has a fragile body frame and under average arm strength. As soon as the Browns drafted him, his future as a wasted pick was confirmed.
