For anyone thinking that my eyes are moving because I am reading off a teleprompter you are wrong. My eyes move because I have an eye condition which I have talked about time and time again. Anyone who watched the video would see the few notes I had and looked to on occasion. This video was one take all the way through start to finish all off the top of my head.
Jared Polin I met you at the private ProMasterChannel meeting in Chicago , I never judge you for anything trivial like that , you're a genius and worked so much to get where you are , I congratulate you man !!
Jared Polin Darn you Jared now i can't unsee the eye movement since you pointed it out not cool I enjoyed my ignorance. Back on topic I am really confused why you seem so attached to the D4s in comparison to the D810 with your philosophy that motor-driving is a sin. With every side by side comparison I've seen the d810 smokes the d4s in image quality, it performs slightly better in low light only being beaten by the sony a7s and it has the exact same auto focus system. Honestly the only thing that I could think of performance wise that the d4s wins at is FPS and of course not so much performance but it does also offer a pro+ type of build quality as apposed to the merely pro build of the d810. My question is what about the d4s really makes it worth 2 d810s for you? Maybe I'm just missing somthing Edit: whoops I was slightly mistaken the d810 has slightly worse low light performance but looking at side by side tests it seems to be the very essence of negligible.
Great subject Jared. My first camera was a Nikon D70. I then purchased a Nikon D200. I used these to take sporting photos of my children playing basketball and football. I found them to be good cameras but realized that their focusing abilities were not great and found numerous photos out of focus. I then got my bonus check and had the opportunity to buy the Nikon D4s. This camera has superb focusing and low light. I found less photos out of focus and looked back to think I had to spend $1300 for a kit D70 and $1700 for the kit D200. That was $3000 and hundreds of unfocused photos. The Nikon D4s just blows everything out of the water and is a great camera. I take extreme care of my Nikon D4s and just recently purchased a Nikon Z9. As for glass, I have the trinity glass set; 14-24 f2.8, 24-70 f2.8, and 70-200 f2.8. Although I promised my wife, I would abstain from speeding more money on my collection of lenses, I got her blessing to get a 300 mm f2.8. And yes, I've done several wedding shoots with happy clients. This is an expensive hobby, but I enjoy it. Thanks Jared.
First of all, thanks for enabling closed captioning, I'm deaf and it really benefits me a lot. And secondly, this video answered a lot of questions in my mind, helped me to make a better idea of those Nikon cameras, better decision making video ever! Keep up the good work!
In my mind these can all be used by a working professional to make great images. My choices. 610 - someone starting out in FX, pro on a tight budget or a pro looking for a light FX body 750 - working pro shooting event, sports, or pj. and especially anyone with demanding video requirements 810 - studio photographer, portrait photographer, product photographer, architectural photographer - NOT wedding - small RAW is atrocious and the big files drag down workflow, also shooter with top notch video requirments D4s - pro full time sports shooters, field shooters who are tough on gear, pj's on assignment in inhospitable environment - D810 video is better just my opinion here
I do alot of concerts, shows, parties, and clubs. Which would be better suited for that? I also do a lot of low light shoots. I have an old D300 and am looking to upgrade.
mavdj Depends if you have the glass to support FX. If you don't, the D7100 is an excellent choice IMO. If you have some good glass the D750 would and is my choice for FX.
CristianAyalaProducciones You can't go wrong with the 24-70 F2.8 Nikkor (except for the high price). If you need more versatility you could use the new 28-120 AF-S Nikkor for a walk around type lens. The Sigma "Art" series lenses are a good choice if your on a budget.... Also, some of the older Nikkor AF lenses are good if you get the f2.8 versions.
I just got my D750 to match my Sigma Art 50mm lens, best setup I have ever had! the sharpness and bokeh is perfect. The ISO performance is also out of this world
I truly appreciate how straight and to the point you were with this video. I'm tired of waiting through gab in every other informative video. Definitely subscribed.
I take photos for work that have to be published. I started with a D300 with an 18-70 f/3.5-4.5G and a 70-300 back in 2009. That stayed with me until last June when my bag containing all my equipment was stolen while on assignment. From then I used my office's Canon 6D with a 70-200 f2.8 and 24-70 f2.8. It convinced me that I needed to step up. So I kept saving enough to get the D750. I will use it for work for photos that will get published so I feel glad after watching this review that I didn't go for the 610.
I started my photography by watching Jared videos..and thanks to him now I earn as a part time profession...and keeping my passion for it live...cheers for him
Thank you Jared. I've had my D 7000 for two years and I'm looking to make a move up. Since I'm an avid amateur who hopes/may attempt to make money down the road, sounds like the d750 is the way to go.
I'm not a full time pro but shoot weddings with a D610 and picked up a really well priced D600 as a second body instead of forking out a lot for the D750 and it's worked out really well so far. Its known drawbacks e.g. cramped focus points in the middle aren't a big deal for the type of stuff I do. If I were buying my first full frame today though, I would get the D750.
Gibson Weasel to a degree. If you're using a d3100 and take the exact same photo with a d4s. It's going to look sharper and more detailed. For sure. Especially in a low light situation. Going to be MUCH cleaner
Thanks for sharing your impressions, I agree with them and I will send the video to some people that are deciding what to buy (they already have an investment on Nikon glass). A side note, if you are into architecture or landscape nothing touch the D810 outside a medium format or technical camera. Add good glass and you are done. Is not just the resolution that helps a lot, but the low ISO and very good dynamic range.
Jared does the D810 have visibly better image quality than D750? Talking portraits and headshots, with very sharp lenses (per DXO). D810 has 50% more pixels plus no anti aliasing filter .... but is this visible? Have you done an image quality comparison? Thanks! Art
i have a D90 second hand camera.. i been saying i want a D800 for the longest.. but i shoot everything from parties, sports, portrait, product shots,etc..so now after watching this video im going with the nikon d750
You said it all. (I wanted to hear) Just making up my mind about picking up the D750 + nikkor 24-70mm f2. vr. You helped me with the decision. I am going for it. My first FF. Thank You Jared.
Get a D3X00 if you are a beginner or just want a good camera. Get a D5X00 if you want the tilty flippy screen. Get a D7X00 if you want a camera with professional features but don't have the money for full frame/don't need full frame.
Thanks Jared for a video that you've waited a long time. Now I know exactly what camera I want to continue my journey in photography. The Nikon D750 is the perfect choice for me. Big thank you! Greetings from Sweden Gabriel Martinez
I’m not a professional but chose the D4s and the D810. Simply because they will outlast me. I plan on shooting professionally in the next few years. I bought both cameras for a lot less than just a new D4 with very low shutter count. Don’t hesitate to buy used from B&H !!!
How do you feel about the D700? Im thinking about moving up to a FX from the D7000....and the D700 used is right in my price range. I just don't want to take a step backwards...Also, i don't have a need for video.
Fro big thank you for explaining the options for Nikon FX i went for the D610 as you stated that the camera is a steal for the price. I was going D750 but saved the money for glass and i am astonished at the quality of the D610 gone from DX to FX but still keep my D5300 as they both work well. So thanks mate the advice made me make the decision on the D610 and i am not regretting it. Thanks Dude.
After shooting many Nikon's (F2A & F2AS, etc) {and many Mamiya 645's and 4X5 view cameras} for many years; the digital world was born. I ended up buying the Nikon D90 to start with (for digital) and then I ended up buying the D7100, D7200, D610, D750 and the D810. I've recently picked up 18 new Nikon lenses to add to my collection of older Nikon glass. I think I have a photography addiction problem. Is there a photographers rehab center that you know of? By the way: I do use a teleprompter for my videos. I don't see it as an issue with or without a teleprompter. Some videos are good with it and some videos are good without it. It depends on the topic, location and the reason for the video. For my video's, I use a combination of Sony AX100's and the Nikons. All good stuff. I think I really need that rehab center. Please advise.
Jared, thanks for confirming my decision of purchasing the D750 as an all around camera. I have a D3s as part of my arsenal. Love both cameras. Any comments on the new 300mm f/4.0 lens?
I pretty much agree with everything you said about the D750. But what really bothers me, is it's plastic build quality. If it had a more professional build quality, it would be the hands-down camera to buy. I really wish Nikon would give us pros an updated D700 with the D750's capabilities/specs. Or even the D810 body with the D750's specs.
My main needs for photography are for myself and family, i.e. Birthdays, party's, and other memorable moments. I used to shoot with a D700 but I hated the assumptions I received from it. Granted I did the occasional wedding or other parties and portrait sessions for money, but I was always asked if I was professional. I never considered myself to be such and did gigs more as a favor to friends/family. I now shoot with silver DF. It gives me great quality photos but I can now go out on the street and not be thought of as a Professional. Most of the time the people around me don't even care, compared to before when I shot a D700 with grip.
So, I know this is a video post from like 4 yearsr ago... But, I currently have two DX cameras, the D3300(my 1st ever DSLR) and the D7100. I have had the D7100 for a couple years now and I really want to move onto full frame.. So, I've been looking around and it is between the D750 and D810 and D610 for me.. The D810 is a LITTLE high on the price scale(I know it's actually pretty low in terms of full frame cameras go but...) so the DD750 and D610 were the ones I was really thinking about... And, from what I see in this video, I think paying the extra $300 might be worth it in my opinion.. The auto focus is very important to me and as I am getting into cinematography now, all those abilities for shooting video is great! Thanks for the video man!
Thanks Jared. I was trying to steel myself for the long saving time to get the D810, but this helped me. I'm making a bit of money now, and the D750 should be great. I have a D7000 now, but I'm shooting in the Casino. It would be great to just relax, use the D750 and get the job done. The only small reservation I have is the low pass filter, and I love trying to get detail into landscapes. I love zooming in and zooming in to see what is there. In one photo, I took some pictures of the ducks that the eagle was watching, way out on the mud flats of a receding lake. When I zoomed in, I realized that I had completely misjudged the scale, and I was looking at hoofed animals, probably Elk. I don't know if I need that kind of detail, though. I would like to be able to make pictures large enough to put in people's living rooms, though. Like, mine. :)
For my needs, I am looking at the 610. For vacations, walk around street photos, and the occasional "hey can you do me a favor and take a few pictures at my kid's bday party", what glass should I have in my bag?
anyone have input on how relevant this video is now in 2019? Im starting up my photo business and have been thinking the 750 is still a good camera, but looking for input
I just sold my nikon D800 and bought the Nikon D4, I sold my D3 and bought the D610 and sold my nikon 7000 and bought the 7200. I shoot weddings, red-carpets, and college basketball, and NFL games. Do you think I made the right decisions and have the right arsenal for what I shoot?
Hey Jared! RUclips recommended me this video today and I'm glad your introduction part is still the same !!! could you please make a new video comparing the new FX DSLR available today in the market as 60% of people can't afford mirrorless.
there are more reasons why someone wouldn't get the D4 than just because they can't afford it. One being that the D4 is relatively low res compared to the D810 which gives you better noise performance. You made it sound like the D4 was the best bar none and if you can afford it you should get the D4
I just upgraded from a D7100 to the 750. I got a 85mm 1.8 lens as well to compliment the 50 1.4 d that i got. The 750 is simply monstrous compared to the 7100. I thought that the 7100 af system was good. (And it is). but the 750 is just on a different planet. and that full frame sensor makes the 85mm lens much more usable. Im very happy witb it.
great video Jared ! After your video I've decided to go with the D750(christmas) from my D90/D3100. My lens that I have are the 50mm & 85mm 1.8g Then after the new years the Tamron 70-200 2.8 w/ vc ! Keep the videos coming!
It is 2020, and I am looking at D610 for $800 & a D810 for $1300. Now, I get it is double the camera, and was told that the ability to edit it takes so much space on my computer, that entering into a photography career, I think the D610 will be Aok for now, compared to what I've been using. I am wanting to use it as a start up.
The D750 is probably the greatest full frame camera on the market under $2000. It has a better focusing system and ISO performance over the D810. In addition, BestBuy thrown in the grip for free. It's a steal.
The year is 2019 and I finally decided to upgrade to a higher end camera and almost debated on getting the D850 for its 4K video but remembered that I RARELY do video nowadays (and when I finally get back into it, it'll likely be with a school so I'll have access to their 4K equipment) and settled with the D750 and using it for the first time after customizing it, I was super happy with it and can't wait to use it for actual photoshoots.
Jared can you give your top three GLASS to use on the D750 for a wedding if THREE was the maximum you can use. Thanks for the detailed explanation on the cameras.
I am student photography and I am in doubt of buying de D610 or de D750, I know u said de 750 is better but i am really in doubt because of the price difference as i am just a student.. and if its really that much different? Also want to buy the 24--70 with it, so is it really noticeable? (sorry for the bad english)
None of these cameras really offered what I needed either specs or price-wise. As my 1st Nikon FX, I settled with second hand D3s with ~80k clicks at a price of 1200€. Outer detritions, yes, but works just fine. As I don't shoot for money, latest and greatest tech is not that important to me. What matters is battery life, ruggedness, vertical grip and ISO performance since I travel a lot and shoot a lot in low light. And I don't mind the weight. Nowadays the cameratech takes smaller and smaller advancements since it's that good already. Older bodies can measure fairly well up against the new ones. My point being: pick the one that suits your needs, but don't be afraid to look for older alternatives. You might save even more for awesome glass!
Iam using d5600 and i want go professional,Shall i go with d750 for street photography, bird photography and portraits.I have seen ton of video troubling to choose d500 or d750
+Jared Polin I have a question: Is there a big difference between the D600 and the D610 in terms of night photography/high ISO capabilities? I don't know which one to choose, because I could not afford the D750. Thank you.
What about the size of the pixels on the d4s, I hear they are bigger than on the other cameras, is that true and would that give me images with more details than the D810 or is the salesman talking BS?
Is the D750 still a better option at today's prices? They're fairly close price wise on B&H and are almost identical when comparing a used D810 vs a new D750. Would the value of a used D810 outweigh the D750 when considering the risk of used D810? SO MANY CHOICES!
Thanks Jared! As a hobbyist thinking about full frame, I'm glad you are calming my urge to overbuy. I love the people who came to complain that the quality free content isn't what they were looking for. The title is quite descriptive so, I'm thinking if you are commenting about the lack of other brands being represented, you are here for the attention.
For anyone thinking that my eyes are moving because I am reading off a teleprompter you are wrong.
My eyes move because I have an eye condition which I have talked about time and time again.

nobody cares for that Jared Polin we love you for who you are and what you do/accomplish!!
How can you see or shoot photos when your eyes go side to side constantly?
I love my D4S...5 years on from when this video dropped and it’s still a BEAST!
I just bought the 24 to 70 lens and to go with it I ordered the d750, my first fx camera, very excited
You still do the best most useful camera reviews of anyone out there.
You are kidding right?

CristianAyalaProducciones You can't go wrong with the 24-70 F2.8 Nikkor (except for the high price). If you need more versatility you could use the new 28-120 AF-S Nikkor for a walk around type lens. I just got my D750 to match my Sigma Art 50mm lens, best setup I have ever had! the sharpness and bokeh is perfect. The ISO performance is also out of this world
for the money D700 the best ever produced DSLR
+Alex Jakobs yes the best FX camera of all time and long lasting life time
Alex Jakobs no that goes to d750 which is now just $1500!
Darth, I was researching the D750 this weekend and I REALLY WANT IT! Where did you find it for $1500?
I've shot a wedding with my brother's D700. The images are stunning! So life like and the colors are amazing.
Bang on. Bought a D700 as a reserve/2nd camera for my D750. For someone without the big bucks it's an excellent camera, I love it.
I truly appreciate how straight and to the point you were with this video. I'm tired of waiting through gab in every other informative video. Definitely subscribed.
I love a fast paced review, I can consume information rapidly so I hate video reviews that drone on.
Keep it up, I love the format. Subbed.
Still a useful video in 2022, I appreciate the "straight to the point" type of attitude and feel of the video.
This dude works harder than a lot of photographers that do videos. He shows a ton of examples while many of them just talk.

Gibson Weasel to a degree. If you're using a d3100 and take the exact same photo with a d4s. It's going to look sharper and more detailed. For sure. Especially in a low light situation. Going to be MUCH cleaner

The D750 is now going for only $1,296.95 at B&H. I just might opt for that deal.
Jared, thanks for confirming my decision of purchasing the D750 as an all around camera. I have a D3s as part of my arsenal. Love both cameras.
Any comments on the new 300mm f/4.0 lens?
once I start working in the spring again I will be saving up for the S
D750 :)
Thank you, im trying to decide between the nikon d810 or sony a7r mark 2
Thanks for the video Jared. When funds are available, I am going to grab the D750. Appreciate your incite!
Good advice Jared, there will never be the perfect camera for everyone but as it stands the D750 is probably as close as they've come so far.
Q: Which Nikon full frame camera should you buy?
A: The one that says Canon :P
Nice video, man. I really enjoyed it!
Thanks for the video man!
i have decided which to buy after ive seen this video, Thank you Jared.
A very informative video! The D810 fullfills my needs. Thank you!
Soooo helpful. I love you for this video. Was stuck between the d610 & d750. D750 it is.
thinking to purchase my first FX, D610 but then caught up with used d800 with SC 25k, best decision ever.
Andrew Barker if you can afford 2 750s, do it. If not, try to find 2 used or refurbished d610s
Still an amazing camera today, even when compared to the D850 (which has obvious advantages over it but it's also around 3x more expensive).
Even Nikon D600 gives better photos than more "recent" models (Canon rp for instance...) still today, so yes...
Was wondering if you could do D5 vs D4s vs D850 vs Z7 vs D500.
Your review is incredible!
Cool fro...I really need to go for the 810...I tried my 50mm 1.8 lens in the shop and I didn't believed in my eyes...Different world...
He always forgets about landscape photographers haha
I think your expert advice and help for the budding photographer in invaluable....I love your channel.!!
Ian PhotoShoot 85mm 1.4G, 35mm 1.4G, 14-24 2.8G would be my pick if I was limited to three.
Don't forget with the grip you get 7fps with the 810 and the buffer is way bigger than the D750.
Thank you so much jared....
I was waiting for this comparison. .
I am student photography and I am in doubt of buying de D610 or de D750, I know u said de 750 is better but i am really in doubt because of the price difference as i am just a student.. and if its really that much different? Also want to buy the 24--70 with it, so is it really noticeable? (sorry for the bad english)
any news of d flare problem and update? wanting to buy the d750
Jared Polin.
A single question: on the nikon side, the lens options use to be much more expensive then on canon's side. Is it worth the extra $$?
Jared, do you have a review regarding what lenses you think work best for Nikon full frame cameras?
Nikon D600 or D610 is the best value, specially on the used market. Just picked up a D600 with only 7K shots on eBay for $390. Takes great pictures.
Missed your comments about the Df ... why was this left out of the video when mentioned in the title of your video?
Iam using d5600 and i want go professional,Shall i go with d750 for street photography, bird photography and portraits.I have seen ton of video troubling to choose d500 or d750
Love it. The Eddie Van Halen of photography.
I already have dis d750,what's in my mind is which which lens to buy?
Great video man! Straight to the point and very useful! Thanks! :D
D750 is a home run
+Jared Polin I have a question: Is there a big difference between the D600 and the D610 in terms of night photography/high ISO capabilities? I don't know which one to choose, because I could not afford the D750. Thank you.
What about the size of the pixels on the d4s, I hear they are bigger than on the other cameras, is that true and would that give me images with more details than the D810 or is the salesman talking BS?
What would you guys choose for landscape, the dynamic rang of the D810 or noise performance of the D750?
Very good all round roundup on the Nikon lineup Jared Polin Will you be doing a Canon full frame "what should you buy"?
What do you reccomend? For a wedding photographer especially for the fast paced dance floors ? D810 or the d750?
Jared what your opinion? What kind of objective I shall buy for the d750? Nikon 24-120 f4 or Tamron 24-70 f2,8 vc?
Is the D750 still a better option at today's prices? They're fairly close price wise on B&H and are almost identical when comparing a used D810 vs a new D750. Would the value of a used D810 outweigh the D750 when considering the risk of used D810? SO MANY CHOICES!
Would you still recommend the D810 in 2023? Photography is my profession, I have the full Sony kit but I’ve always wanted to dabble with Nikon.
Awesome, I can't thank you enough for all you have taught me. You are a very generous person.
Brilliant video, thanks Jared!
i am curious fro, what is your favorite camera? no wishy washy answer either please about the right camera for the right job.
Thanks Jared! As a hobbyist thinking about full frame, I'm glad you are calming my urge to overbuy. I love the people who came to complain that the quality free content isn't what they were looking for. The title is quite descriptive so, I'm thinking if you are commenting about the lack of other brands being represented, you are here for the attention.
great review sir. u have a new fan! keep going
thanks for the excellent information! 6 years later I am trying to decide on which FX sensor to buy... and everybody else is getting mirrorless....
