There are songs that are as close to a time machine as we'll ever get. Songs like this take me back. The song feels like being there, but it's just far enough that you aren't actually there.
It sounds different, but I appreciate it. It's like a song lost in time, infinitely better than anything else on the radio. So… I hope I'll hear it on the radio lol
I. JUST. LOVE. THIS. SONG.
I'm starting to believe Mourning Sound is in response to Grizzly Bear's Two Weeks. The fast tempo and message of unsustainably living fast and in excess as a point in Mourning Sound (in a very Absurdist way) is in direct contrast and literal mourning to Two Week's cry to slow down, to relax, and to let things be simple sometimes.
Ephemeral in its beauty, and perfect
Wake and bake to grizzly bear, I love them
I’m bout to drink and bake for this millionth time to this, can’t wait to go camping this coming summer so I can blast this early in the mountains as I. Ok steak eggs and potatoes, hope it rains as well
I didn't know people were hating on how poppy this was when it came out...i've always felt their version of chamber pop to be full of otherworldly hooks, only accomplishable by their mastery and musicianship...that's what sets them even further apart from other bands that can tap into what they do with the more psychedelic and experimental/jazzy stretches, they can slip some straight tunes in there...anyway, who cares, why am i writing this...i just freaking love this band and every song they made--special stuff
I would have waited another 5 years. Your discography is timeless.
Ed and Dan both have amazing voices. Thank you for all that you do Grizzly Bear! I've been a following you guys since Yellow House and I love everything you guys have done since - I've never really understood fans that don't like change - it's been rewarding to hear your sound change over time. This is a gorgeous song.
Lol, I love how the long-time Grizzly Bear fans are pulling away from this song like a cat from water. I did initially, but it's growing on me. I've been listening to these guys and their side projects for years, I'm getting this album too.
Yeah! I hate how they're so quick to judge...like give it a chance, man.
i'm a long-time GB fan and i fucking love it, so i don't know what these other geezers are grumping over.
thevulcanway they used to be with "it" but now what's "it" is scary and confusing to them.
jumbie031 they're probably the type to call all modern music inferior to old tunes.
Yup...pretty much
All the hardcore GB fans who are complaining that this is too poppy or radio-friendly... Have you guys even *heard* 'Two Weeks? Come on. Grizzly Bear have always had pop music in their DNA.
ignore the hipsters, they're not real fans of any artist they claim to support.
this song makes me feel a lot of nostalgia. would listen to this always last year when i was depressed & it would instantly put me in hopefully/blissful mood. i love this song
I couldn't be any happier! Grizzly Bear continues to make music...I personally love ALL of it❤ I screamed with excitement when I heard this.
A beautiful song. Honey to my ears.
THIS RECORD IS GONNA BE GOOD
Gloriously mesmerizing at every bending wave!!!
I've been a long-time Grizzly Bear fan and every time they put new music I love it and this time is no different, loving this song. 💕
I love it. Grizzly Bear as a summer band? Never thought about it but I won't complain. The chorus, the electronic, the guitar, the layers....
Great job GB!!!! Definitely going to buy this as soon as possible.
When old fans have decided they won't like the album. I'm holding the door for you.
This is a Great song.
This song and 'Two Weeks' are as close as Grizzly Bear will ever get to this 'radio sound' that is so frequently mentioned here by the disheartened bunch. It's preposterous that you can blame a band for being so diverse that one of their songs inadvertently appeals to the masses.
simon moreta Well-said 👌
"Two Weeks" Fred Falke remix is delightful as well :)
Yet still, they remain
I have a very strange friendship with this band. I have conversed with Ed back in 2007 which later inspired my Vacant Mind projects, flew out to D.C to see them at 9:30 club, met the band and took some pictures just to be kicked out right before the first song over a sip of beer. Later spent a great deal of time not able to listen to them just to find myself obsessiving over "Shields" and Daniels recorch as well at the time. Seriously curious to see what happens next.
Their new stuff has been blowing me away, nothing from their past work can really compare to this new sound.
If you're disappointed by this song, KEEP REPLAYING IT, you've got to give this one some time. SO GOOD!!
so true
I don't know, I fell in love with it instantly. I thought everybody felt the same way but I guess it's different in all of us.
The best songs are the ones that you have to hear a couple times to appreciate.. however I loved this song on the first listen. Same with two weeks
When I heard it last year, I hated it.
I rediscovered it this year and LOVE it
It took a couple days, but totes obsessed with this track now.
These 2 new singles are in contention for SOTY for me. I am loving both of them so fucking much. Let's just hope, however, that we get some songs like Lullabye, Southern Point, Marla, etc... this album overall is shaping up beautifully so far.
I'd really like to live in a world with more songs like Southern Point
I fucking love this! It seems like people want them to keep making the same record over and over which is a testament to their impact as a band. but I for one love when a band grows and experiments with their sound. I'm so stoked for this record
hey guys my sister and i are big fans. she left us this week, i think she felt like she had nothing left. we all disagreed, she was too young, but nonetheless she is no longer in pain and she is my friend forever. thanks for the music
I don't know what everyone is losing their shit over. This is a great track.
Just like Two Weeks LOVED this the first time I heard it.
I heard this music but had no idea what the song was for YEARS!!!!!! I'm so happy right now😊🙃🫠🤣🥰
getting an awesome 80's vibe with this..
didn't like this song at first but it grew on me 💜
cant wait for this album...certainly a sound that grows on you.
Love what has been released so far. The songs are subtle and beautiful.
This is the most straightforward Grizzly Bear song I have ever listened to.
Good or bad? I don't really know, I'll just wait for the new album to come.
I listened to this when I was together with my then girlfriend now fianceé. We broke up 6 years ago, and then met again a bit over a year ago. I did not listen to this at all during the year we were apart and now, the nostalgia I feel driving to her place like I used to all those years ago listening to this song gives me goosebumps.
This took me back to the 80's.
Love the "gun-shy"-esque synth sounds! Excited for this new album!
Sweet arrangements in this
This song is brilliant! I listen to it everyday.
Always amazing.
Cheers from Mexico🔥
Honestly this has become my favorite GB song. So damn addictive
this song kicks ass
loooove this!! So glad they're putting out new stuff!
I understand most of the mixed reviews being somewhat negative, regarding how straightforward and perhaps "poppy" this is in its structure. But FFUUCCKK me, it is SSOOOOO "Grizzly Bear". This. shit. grows. on. you, it's one of those songs. The layers and production are absolutely nostalgic and beautiful. I see this as Grizzly Bear's way of saying, "Fuck yeah, we can pull off a poppy song".
P.S. It's 1 in the morning and I'm playing it for the fifth time in a row, and I'll probably keep going.
Screw all the complaints, this is what I've been needing so much.
I'm so happy they could go pop as this lvl. but not bit loose their unique.
incredible tune
wasn't a fan of how simple the chord progression came off at first, but the TONES on this track are phenomenal
Been replaying this track for the last 4 days. I feel like this was made for blue light road trips or the Preacher series.
one of their best songs yet? yep
I missed you omg
Love this song sooooo much
After the second listen this song really started to grow on me
They're just AMAZING. Definitelly I think that i go to see them in Berlin.
Accessible, mainstream, poppy, whatever. This sounds great and it has the same Grizzly Bear soul I'm used to. The album can't come soon enough!
nope :(
Stumbled across this while listening to Beck. I can see why it was recommended
Oh, I've been missing you so long.
This is crazy! I love it.
this album will be AOTY. Arcade fire might challenge this
Loving this song!
Fantastic song :)
Man. They went new wave. Still like it ;)
This album will be all over the place.
I guess I really was missing this.
please tour already dangggg
I just really love Daniel Rossen
Fantastic!!
Sounds great! Catchy song! Can´t wait for the new Album! Hope you guys will come to Germany for some gigs! :)
Oh joy!
Glorious
This is a good song.
heck yeah it is.
Rory Jones yup cool track. Feels good, will run to this.
Mizum0n0 have a great weekend
Very good song.
It's a GREAT song 💙👍
wow this is soo good
not a fan of the beginning of the song and the drums but god damn that chorus is beautiful, this is why I love Grizzly Bear
Was looking for bear sound effects, found a new music group to listen to!
I was scared that I wouldn't like their new song but I'm happy I liked it
fuck the criticism, this is exactly what i needed today of all days. i love these guys, they're good people and massively talented, and i don't think i'd be entirely the same person i am today without all the music that's helped me nurse emotional and psychological wounds. this is healing, this is so healing. it's what i needed today. thank you, GB.
great words
Yeah screw other people for having different opinions.
+Tristan Sickles nah that's not what i said at all, my little dude, but if you need to feel victimised to feel validated in your complaint there are better ways to do that than by bashing grizzly bear for "sounding different" on a new album. way to take what i said out of context, though, and twist it to suit your need to be insulted by a stranger on the internet. there are too many people in here being hateful and disgusting about this track when there's no need to be. it's not about their opinions being different, it's about how they choose to express them in rudeass ways. kind of like how you're being a rude ass because you filled in the blanks on something i said to suit your own personal purpose rather than taking what i said at face value, which was "fuck haters, this is cool to me" -- not sure how you could possibly take that personally unless you're one of the haters acting up, thinking you're entitled to act like a douche on the great wide interwebs just because you listened to a song on youtube.
Why would I want to feel victimized? People should be allowed to express how they feel about something in any way, and if that way is saying its"trash" let them do it. Im more of a "oh well they don't like it I'll move on" kinda guy.
+Tristan Sickles so you think everyone should be exactly like you while arguing that i should allow them their opinions, which i have considering me voicing mine in no way hinders anybody else from stating theirs? interesting, another keyboard hypocrite fuckboy picking needless and unnecessary argument in youtube comments. what a surprise. do that thing you said you're good at, that moving on thing. get out of my mentions with this pretentious BS.
I love this song!!!!
Great Track!
never disappointing
This sounds a lot like Future Islands. Not complaining though. Eager to hear where they go with this album.
If someone were to ask you what pop rock music sounded like in the 2010 decade, just play her/him this song. This pretty much covers it
Is there like "mainstream" versions of Indie Rock? This sound doesn't sound "mainstream" to me as a new found fan. I'm not familiar with their older work, but I really liked the sound of this song!
I keep returning to this song. Under that Grizzly spell again.
Listened to this while i was high, it was a pretty a good expierience
I made a mistake
I should have never tried
I took the cake
Finished every slice
I moved away
Still playing off the fights
For every day
I share our love delight
I stare at the face
Looking through my eyes
I move at a pace
That I cannot survive
I'm hauling away
I do it all the time
Let love age
And watch it burn out and die
I woke to the sound of dogs
To the sound of distant shots and passing trucks
We woke with the mourning sound
It's the sound of distant shots and passing trucks
We woke with the mourning sound
It's the sound of distant shots and passing trucks
I own the faith
Could never have denied
This isn't a place
Where I can even try
I'm hauling away
I do it all the time
Let love age
And watch it burn out and die
We woke with the mourning sound
It's the sound of distant shots and passing trucks
We woke with the mourning sound
It's the sound of distant shots and passing trucks
We woke with the mourning sound
It's the sound of distant shots and passing trucks
Gracielly Sousa YES. THANK YO
*u
LOVE THIS SOUND!!!
Che gran pezzo!
This is way better than the music video
I'm loving this ❤
Awesome
Goed bezig = Dutch for 'doing a great job'!
...demasiado Pop en la canción que cuando llega Rossen aparecer lo absorbe por completo, quedando una pieza perfecta complementaria de Shields!...
Increíble canción!!!!!! nos vemos en Noviembre en el Corona Capital!!!!
Great respectful nice fire song
New season of Twin Peaks this Sunday, and new Grizzly Bear songs? It's fucking Christmas in May! :D
loving it!
Waw quel style!
the bass line reminds me of broadcast's corporeal
