Great video! I'm very much looking forward to playing this myself, as I'm usually in the more is more and that is good camp of things (up to a point 😉).
Yeah, you're right, this might just be a play a few times type of game. We're still trying to play as many games as possible in the hopes that it starts to get really good, but as it stands right now, it just doesn't seem worth the super long time to set up and go through all the procedures of every action. A lot of the rules are just not intuitive and so this becomes one of those games that if you don't play for awhile, you forget most of the steps required for each action.
Nice to see your thoughts on this. I have been a big fan of the other Dani Garcia games I have played. With both Barcelona and Windmill Valley I thought the several mechanisms and ways to score were very well integrated - never just “more is more”. I have also appreciated that for a bigger, heavy Euro, Dani’s themes and less complex rules have been more approachable than many heavy games - leading to more opportunities to get to the table with a variety of people. I am quite looking forward to checking this out at Unplugged next week.
I understand how you feel about being able to do too much, and if this is fun on its own, but without actual focus on what excaclty it is you are doing.
Hey Jeremy! Maybe I missed it, but was this played based on solo play(s) only?
