I can't imagine being that goalie. Can you imagine in today's league a goalie not getting pulled by at the very latest the end of the second, unless of course your name is Roy but even that was about 30 years ago.

Ironically enough, the team he was facing (his last game for Montreal Canadiens) was the Detroit Red Wings.

At one point during the war, things got so bad for the Rangers, they considered suspending operations for the remainder of the war. I'm not sure how true it is, but then NHL president Red Dutton supposedly turned down this request due to his still being mad at the Rangers for forcing his New York Americans team out of business.

@@edited1325 It isn't the biggest lopsided victory in NHL history, but it's the most goals scored in a game by one team and I think it's the 2nd most lopsided victory in NHL history. Whether the teams exist or not anymore is irrelevant, they were both NHL teams and remains an official record 🏒
