I love this, thank you for uploading your thoughts on these. I’ve been wanting to get into designing my own hydroponic systems, seeing the downsides/comparisons between different commercial grade products really gives me a better idea of what materials to start working with. Keep up the good work ❤
Truthfully, all you need are Rubbermaid tubs, a few small float valves, and a secondary bucket to feed the Rubbermaids through the float valves. That could even be placed outside the tent. Other than that, you just need air stones, air tubing, an air pump, and your choice of baskets to insert into the lids of the Rubbermaids. I did this with traditional hydroponics with spaghetti tubing and a water pump, but the same would work for DWC. If space is limited for the float valve, you could connect a smaller but taller bucket to the Rubbermaids using hose and fittings, then mount the float valve in the smaller bucket. As long as the level is high enough, the waterline in the larger Rubbermaids will be just as high.
I just bought the hydro bucket kit. The new lid for them is nice, it has 6 holes for tie downs or you can stick 3/4 pvc pipe for nets. Been growing no till organic for two years and looking forward to learning hydro. I want to test clones for brix, terps etc by doing both methods
The Current Culture bucket is infinitely better than the rest. Having a sump and a drain makes all the difference and anyone that thinks differently has never done a single bucket dwc grow
So how do you connect a Water chiller to the undercurrent solo ? I ask because even on the official web page for the solo it says a water chiller is needed for it … and yet most water chillers use vinyl tubing that’s bigger than any hole on the solo so guessing you gotta rig it ??
I don't know where you're buying your roots Bob bucket is but it's not 60 bucks it's more like 30 to 40 that's how much I paid great comparison but the first bucket works great I've been using them for years just wanted to give my opinion great show
You can use it to add water and to empty Many peope use pumps Another take the plant out Lol So simple You can add nutes and water trough that tube and again empty all to flush Dont tell this secret anyone lol cause i still read about pumps on foruns
the blue tube is just another trap for water bacteria to grow via being exposed to light inside the grow tent. Cover it up or remove, its not required.
Dude that tube is not for connecting your air pump. The tube is to be left alone , it's your water level indicator and the hole in the top is merely a breather so the level is able to rise and fall along with the indicator ball if you have one in there.
I got the 4 bucket system root spa through a trade and I’m just now using it for about 2 months and I’ve had to modify it to get more air I’ve added air stones. So yea not the best granted mine was just about free. But it’s not hard at all to build your own and if you buy a few things in bulk you could make several of them honestly.
I like the Hydrobucket but it looks like it’s less than 5 gal….is that right? I worry that a 5 gal res is going to need changing allllll the damn time.
Thank you for the video!!! for the CCH20 bucket is there light leaks where the holes are for the air hose by the reservoir lid? just want to make sure light cant get through those air hose inserts
super cool to compare these i appreciate this one fo sho.. doin a 6 on blu mats run and a 4 with the Ac infinity pots and your experience there def set me up with all the right info. I was able to get 8 days during week 2 of flower filling pots and top watering as much as i could around 3/4 gallon and that did the trick. i came home on that 8th night and they still looked perfect. DWC for me will be a year or 2 away but ill try at some point🤘🤘✌️
I bought 2 of the spa buckets and was so disappointed. Not sure if you hooked up the pump through the tube w no air stone as directed and it's trash in my opinion. I never even used them and yes I paid 60. Amazon. I wish I had this video before I made my purchase.
I've done living soil and RDWC at the same time with clones. As long as you have no deficiencies there is literally no difference in the end product. This is max broscience.
Root spa for the win imo. I have 16 of them total set up in multiple tents and rooms, for the money they get you up and going right away... I set up four buckets, started my plants and kept four buckets set aside and then ordered a stirponics kit for $100 from PA hydroponics and install them into the buckets this way one reservoir four plant sites super easy DWC and under $250 including four new air stones to upgrade Yes root spa says to run your air hoses in to the level indicator hose which to me doesn't give enough dissolved oxygen... I typically grow a half pound plant per bucket with absolutely no problems... Current culture is a good system but to me overpriced and been growing DWC for 10 years now ..I think the hydro bucket is okay at best but if you're serious at all you're going to do RDWC and not several individual buckets as it's a pain in the a s s...
Not a chance. The drain on the current culture bucket makes it better than the rest alone, but having bigger options other than just 5 gallon buckets is also a plus
Had never seen the hydrobucket. Thank you for showing this to me

Any luck coming up with a design? would love to support small business!

I use kitty litter buckets. Cut a hole on top for my net pot and the handy flap on the front makes an extremely convenient way to access the inside
i just need a cat now...
Me too those buckets are tough

I've had lots of success with Vivosuns 4 bucket system!!
Current culture nice you can run an outside pump to that kit run a hose from the outside pump via line up the side to give nutreint water to the top
I've been killing it with soil for a few years. DWC has my attention.
Target has some really nice latching storage totes by Brightroom (7, 12, 20 gal) with flat lids top that are really easy to drill out for net pots.

that tube is a water level indicator, it has fuck all to do with the air pump.
I suggest the rubbermaid 10 gal brute trash can. Cut 6 inch hole in lid , $30.00 @ home depot
What air pump would you need with that?
@@lucky5th2650 gph 25 amp around $40
I'd buy 2 , have a backup in case of a breakdown. Use black air line , mount pump above containers & in a cool area , watch water temperature
I want small versions of this like maybe 1 litre these are too big
Thank you for the video!!! for the CCH20 bucket is there light leaks where the holes are for the air hose by the reservoir lid? just want to make sure light cant get through those air hose inserts
congrats on 100k, hopefully you can get the other channel weed in a pot to 100k

Smaller baskets are key to keeping the whole plant Feeding. The bigger baskets are for Ultra developed root systems, not for starting off😢
I run hydrobuckets , the new version is cool.
That's right you just added it up and it's cheaper to buy that system then to build your own dont be silly
Living soil.. nothing compares not even close
Dutch bucket has been around for decades
I've done living soil and RDWC at the same time with clones. As long as you have no deficiencies there is literally no difference in the end product. This is max broscience.
Poop
They say the nutrients don't come with the current culture like you say.
When i priced everything out its not much cheaper bulding yourself .
:LLoo
Wrong
