    14:45 Heat 5 (Chung Jaehee)
    17:14 Heat 6
    20:07 Heat 7
    22:58 Heat 8
    25:32 Heat 9
    28:39 Heats --> Quarters List
    500 M Men Heats
    29:25 Heat 1
    31:39 Heat 2 (Kim Yousung) [Kim Yousung pulls off a double inside pass sneaking thru the opening created when Serbia's L. Jasic and Canada's A. Dubuc-Bilodeau bump in the corner, at 33:24]
    34:49 Heat 3 [Poland's K. Madry penalty for in the corner outside to in lane change, leg clipping Britain's W. Murray and then crashing, at 37:31. This is an extremely close call and it depends on whether initial contact occurred in the corner entry zone, which is at or before block 3, or in the corner, which is after block 3. Contact occurring in the corner entry zone is subject to in the corner entry rules, and Madry would have "priority" because he beat Murray to the block, so the penalty would be called on Murray. Viewing the film at 0.25x speed, it appears as if contact occurred at or just slightly after block 3, so the ref applied in the corner rules (there is no "priority" in the corner), and Madry was behind and crossed over 2 lanes before making contact with Murray, so the call is penalty to Madry for in the corner outside to in lane change]
    38:52 Heat 4 [Hungary's D. Keszthelyi penalty for in the straight arm block, interfering with the leg action of USA's J. Kazanecki and crashing both of them, Kazanecki advanced, at 40:45]
    41:54 Heat 5
    44:33 Heat 6 [Kazakh's M. Tolegen and Thai's C. Taprom clip legs while cornering and Taprom crashes, no call, at 47:00. No call is correct. Tolegen beat Taprom to the block and had "priority" under in the corner entry rules. The ref could have called a penalty to Taprom for end of straight outside skater not giving space, but outside to in penalties are not called when the inside skater is not affected or qualifies despite the contact]
    47:38 Heat 7
    49:47 Heat 8 (Joo Jaehee)
    52:07 Heat 9 [Starter fires gun twice indicating a false start, but nobody receives a false start penalty, live film at 52:33, penalty replay at 52:49. I don't see any false starts]
    -- 53:10 Restart [China's Zhang Bohao stumbles at the start, but comes from behind with 2 crisp inside passes, highlights at 54:12]
    54:55 Heats --> Quarters List
    500 M Women Quarters
    1:09:09 Heat 1 [POLISH WALL VS. CANADA -- The 2 Poles in starting lanes 1 and 2 build a wall to shut out the Canadians in lanes 3 and 4. A successful wall requires one skater to block the incourse and the other skater to cover the outcourse. The Poles give a textbook example of wall tactics, at 1:11:17]
    1:11:55 Heat 2 (Chung Jaehee)
    1:14:31 Heat 3 [Hungary's D. Vegi and Kazakh's P. Omelchuk engage in a multi-lap dogfight for the 2nd qualifying spot, live film at 1:15:27]
    1:16:47 Heat 4 (Kang Minji) [This brutal heat had a Korean and the 2 impressive Chinese skaters, and the race was essentially determined by starting position, highlights at 1:18:51. But this is why it's critical to win your heats in the 500, because heat winners get seeded into the best starting positions, and starting positions are critical in the 500]
    1:19:37 Quarters --> Semis List
    500 M Men Quarters
    1:20:16 Heat 1 (Joo Jaehee)
    1:23:58 Heat 2
    -- 1:26:50 Restart
    1:28:40 Heat 3 (Kim Yousung)
    1:31:07 Heat 4
    1:33:40 Quarters --> Semis List
    500 M Women Semis
    1:46:15 Heat 1 (Kang Minji)
    1:48:50 Heat 2 (Chung Jaehee) [Dutch A. Daleman runs into the backside of Chung Jaehee and opens the door for an inside pass by Hungary's D. Szigeti, no call, at 1:52:00. No call is correct. Chung Jaehee did not commit a foul as there is no penalty for contact from ahead. Daleman could have received a penalty for in the straight push from behind, but that penalty is not called when the skater that is pushed is not affected by contact]
    1:52:55 Semis --> Finals List
    500 M Men Semis
    1:53:22 Heat 1
    1:55:34 Heat 2
    1:58:27 Semis --> Finals List
    500 M Women Finals
    2:16:53 Final B Start List
    2:17:49 Final B Introductions
    2:18:38 Final B
    -- 2:20:43 Restart [China's Li Jinzi stumbles at the start but makes an impressive comeback, highlights at 2:22:00]
    2:22:53 Final A Introductions
    2:25:16 Final A (Kang Minji, Chung Jaehee) [POLISH WALL VS. KOREA -- The Poles try to wall out the Koreans as they did to the Canadians, but the Koreans break the wall on a controversial call. Hungary's D. Szigeti moves wide to block Chung Jaehee's outside pass and crashes, no call, at 2:26:56. No call is correct, as Chung Jaehee beat Szigeti to the block and had "priority" under in the corner entry rules, Chung Jaehee stayed in her lane, and Szigeti moved inside to out into Chung Jaehee on a late block. Szigeti could be called for an inside to out lane change violation because she pushed Chung Jaehee to the outcourse, but lane change penalties that don't affect standings are generally waived, so the no call decision here is well within ref discretion.
    Poland's K. Wozniak slips rounding the corner, Kang Minji is set to crash into Wozniak's backside because Wozniak lost her forward momentum, Kang Minji nudges Wozniak to the side, and Wozniak crashes and trips trailing Chung Jaehee, no call, at 2:28:17. The no call decision can be explained as follows. 1st, Wozniak did not commit a penalty because there is no penalty for contact from ahead. 2nd, if Kang Minji had run into Wozniak's backside, there would be no in the corner push from behind penalty because Wozniak slipped and stopped moving forward. It's well established that running into a skater who is falling is not a penalty. Under Rule C5, a protective arm push is permitted to avoid contact. The issue here is whether Kang Minji's arm push went beyond protective because it led to Wozniak's crash. Running into Wozniak's backside is not a push from behind penalty due to Wozniak's loss of forward momentum, so an arm push from behind to avoid a crash is also not a penalty. It's important to note that Kang Minji did not extend her elbow when pushing Wozniak out of the way, which strengthens the case for a protective arm push. Neither skater committed a penalty because Wozniak slipped, so the no call decision is correct]
    500 M Men Finals
    2:29:28 Final B Start List
    2:29:57 Final B Introductions
    2:30:59 Final B
    2:33:12 Final A Introductions
    2:35:18 Final A [USA's S. Shuai has a magnificent ride trading inside passes with China's Zhang Bohao to claw his way to the win, at 2:37:05. Philippines' P. J. Groseclose penalty for in the corner inside to out lane change, taking out the legs of Zhang Bohao and walling both of them, at 2:38:16]
