  • US tech billionaire Jared Isaacman has become the first commercial astronaut to take part in a private spacewalk more than 400 miles above Earth.
Engineer Sarah Gilles was also on board the mission and followed Mr Isaacman out of the spacecraft shortly after he completed his spacewalk.
Sky's science correspondent Thomas Moore takes a deeper look into this historic moment and what it could mean for future space exploration.

the definition of space walk is exposing yourself in space with only suit protection. besides, there's no ground, how to "walk"? they're moving in thousands of miles per hour.

Decades of U.S. taxpayers paying for the North American Space Agency exploration to develop in order to get to this point where private businessmen can reap all the profits. No dividend for them.

SpaceX developed this mission, the rocket, and the ship and the "rich businessmen" paid for it. Not surprising that someone who doesn't know what N.A.S.A. stands for didn't know that either.

During the "Space Race" Boeing and Lockheed invested majority of the funding for space flights. A lot of the Technology used by NASA came from German N@zi inventions and expertise. Should we pay the Nutzes too.
This is totally a private venture with no input from NASA.
The failed Starliner spacecraft is mostly funded by Boeing. A lot of investors in Boeing wanted to cut their losses and end their contract with NASA because they’re loosing too much money on it. NASA is desperate to not lose a major source of funding and technology from Boeing and wanted to keep the company working with them. That’s why they keep the project alive.
The truth is, the majority of technology we take for granted are made by private individuals and companies that was made to cater to only the few who can afford it (government and military contract, other large companies for their business, etc… ), then later other private companies made them cheaper and more affordable for the masses.
