  • This is just my personal experience. I do not claim to be an expert in Goshawks. I made many mistakes but I did enough right to get get her to the game hawk she is today. She ended the season with 100 rabbits.

That was an amazing video. I felt bad that I was in so much pain when we went hunting when I was there last time. I need to get some good pictures on the next visit to AZ.

Do they ever know if you didn't have the protective gloves,
they can hurt your arm by grabbing?

We found a baby red tailed hawk at the apt complex on the ground. Mom was around but kids too...who were running around with him. The wild life preserves were notified by my ex but they did not come to the rescue. He was panting and it's hot in Arizona. I tried to leave some ground beef for him but did not eat it. We left him under the bush but when I went back half an hour later he was gone. In the morning he was lying dead on the ground. I wish we saw your video earlier and put ice under or got him inside. Wildlife preserves said to leave him alone he will be fine ....not on his own at an apartment complex. I hope it was not the landscaping guys. They worked right next to him. I am so sad.

With approval from my local raptor center I put the hawk back into the nest, if I can't and there isn't proper cover to keep the baby hawk cool enough, I just take it into the rescue myself.

I have a question that I’m hoping you can answer for me. I have the exact problem you had with Arvid (ur first bird) with its wing. No breaks on xray, and prescribed maloxicam, how long did it take for your bird to recover fully? Any tips to help her recover?? Thanks so much

@@brentbelzer I let him rest for 3 weeks before I flew him again. He sprained his other Wing halfway through this season. I gave him a 2-week break for that one. I think at the time I wasn't feeding him enough and he was too low on his weight. It's possible this could have contributed to that. Also, he seemed to bait really hard on a bow perch he was tied to. I think this was also a contributing factor.

@@ToothandtalonI have the same problem she just constantly bates on the bow perch. She hit her left wing on a sapling while diving through two trees which I caught on video. Vet said no breaks and to rest 7-10 days but today is day 5 and she still seems to be holding it a tiny bit low. I was just curious your experience. Thanks

@@Toothandtalondid you know when your bird was ready to fly again after the 2 weeks rest?? I guess what I mean is could you tell he was holding his wing better and he just started flying again?
