I guess Kamal has been using songs to move the story for ages in films like Hey Ram, Virumaandi etc.. and he has used it in more compelling way than any other directors could.
This idea was way before used by the great K Balachandar Sir. There is one movie in which Thalaivar, Kamal Sir and Sreedevi Mam will be in a boat and song happens. In the middle of the song , Kamal sir dies. Such an important scene is kept in the song. Kamal sir following the steps of KB Sir. The credit goes to one and only KB Sir 😊
Creativity aspect , commercial aspect , Shakespeare reference with native story . This man carries with humbleness and courage. He gives credits to ADs and friends who referred him stories. Any age group can relate something or other in his movies. thought provoking scenes. It’s not documentary or adapted story directly but he binds in our language and emotion.
This is a great experience watching and listening to two of my favourites .Want to revisit these films after hearing the director talking about what went behind the making.

To everyone who doesn't understand the impact of Visaaranai, I personally was scared of Police atleast for a few months after I watched the film. It is without a doubt, Vetrimaaran's best.

Vettrimaran has very original ideas and practical views in filmmaking. Oozes class when he speaks about filmmaking while being humble at the same time. Unlike the komali kamal who rips hollywood movies and passes it on as his own.
