I'm going to give it a try thanks to your review! I was an early adoper who's been using Oh Snap grips since the very first one they launched on Kickstarter (the long pill-shaped one that actually sucked despite their slogan). I've been using their 2nd gen grips for years now even after they discontinued them and changed the design. That design has been perfect for me in function. Using it as a grip is the priority feature for me and I love how I can slip my finger in with one hand and continue to use the phone with one hand seamlessly. And I love how it holds onto your finger so you don't even have to keep it gripped - it's really secure! I never have fear walking in a crowded area with my phone in my hand or taking a photo over a ledge or anything because of the way it stays attached to just one finger. When I saw the current design change, I bought up extra sets of the gen 2 because I could tell the 3 was not going to suit my needs. This new design though seems like it might. I may come back to update after I get to use it and compare.
i bought a snap 4, because i really liked the snap 3. However, perhaps due to the new materials used, it wont charge wirelessly on my samsung charging pad anymore. i am quite annoyed
Update: Here's the Battery Charge Benchmark app that I built, as promised. play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jsyntax.batterychargebenchmark (Android) I've been benchmarking Qi charging with and without the Luxe 4, and the results so far show that the accessory does impact charging efficiency by generating more heat. I will release a future video that fully reports on this. TLDR: you may want to reconsider this accessory if Qi (wireless) charging and long-term battery health are essential to you. Personally, I plan not to use Qi charging, so it doesn't have as much impact.
I noticed when I plug it in my car said a qi2 charger the metal ring gets very hot and it barely charges. It only maintains the same charging percentage which is disappointing
I removed the sticky stuff by rolling it off. That way I can take in on and off or switch between phone and case. The magnet is plenty strong using is with my iPhone 15 Pro Max.
I have the Oh Snap 3 currently (around 1yr) and its seen some better days haha. Its cracked down the middle, does not stay popped in anymore, and one of the legs is snapped off. I hope the On Snap 4 Luxe build quality lasts longer.
I’ve had the same issues. I had my snap 3 pro replaced a few months after I received it for free with the warranty. My replacement is now starting to crack down the middle so I went back to there website to see if I was eligible for another replacement and they sent me a code to get the Luxe 4 for no charge at all! The customer support is awesome and they make everything super easy.
Just put mine on yesterday. I also have the Spigen Ultra case. So far seems like a great combo. The Spigen can stand the phone in portrait or landscape.
You earned a new subscriber with this video. I found your video researching this mount. Great video and very practical information that’s relevant for daily use. I’ll be checking out your other videos now.
Love this review. $47 CAD is sooo hefty considering I paid $9.99 for my pop socket, which functions perfectly fine except for the fact that I can’t charge wirelessly. So I have to take my case off every time I get in my car (every day!). I appreciate knowing about the clicking volume because I use my pop socket when I am scrolling while rocking my baby to sleep and the loud click could def wake him up. I also hold my phone by the popsocket a lot while also holding bags, a water bottle, and a toddler all at once. I like the idea of just sticking a finger through the centre.
What is the brand name and model for the base that you use at 0:52? How strong is the magnet? I have been using one of those magnetic finger ring with n55 magnet and it is super strong. I am clumsy so finger ring is an essential for me to use it to hold my phone. Is this any better?
It's wildly unsafe with magsafe charging. I've already reached out to Oh Snap about this. I ran a test on temps and in just 20 minutes of magsafe charging, my charger temps at 160 degrees F, hotter than I can hold safely. I used it for 12 hours and took it off. I'm waiting to hear back from them on this, but I absolutely won't be using it anymore. I'm less concerned about battery degradation and more concerned it's going to physically burn someone.
@@JSyntax just an FYI. I received a very generic, mostly canned response about not guaranteeing magsafe charging works with every charger. My concern is less about is “working” and more about safety or even a fire hazard. As a product manager myself, this is alarming.
I’m currently using a different brand on my iPhone. That also has a metal magnetic ring. It also gets very hot with wireless charging. But it’s detachable. So I take it off to charge wirelessly. So this was a concern about this oh snap version. If it stays attached with MagSafe without the adhesive and is detachable then I can work with it.
They get me every time. Yet again, MagSafe charging doesn’t work on iPhone 15 pro max with a phone rebel case (pretty thin case). I’ve had all versions and none ever could wirelessly charge.
I’ve had mine for three weeks and I’m in construction. With the three- which loved- it scratched in days. The plastic center on the 4 has zero scratches. I’m not sure what they did but the finish is better. Still looks brand new. Also the aluminum seems to actually keep the phone cooler while charging. I haven’t seen any downside from charging. The grip is far more comfortable and long usage is much more using. The heat so far when qi charging has not been an issue for me
i love it! The magnet is super strong and i don’t worry about it falling. i’m going you purchase three more for my sons and my brother Yhis weekend! It’s a bit pricey but compared to how many pockets i’ve lost it’s worth it because this isn’t going anywhere unless you remove it. I would definitely recommend it!
Hey Bro! How has yours held up since a month since posting it? Had mines for about two months already. Love it, but man is mines all scuffed up already, lol. Got the blue color way one to match my blue 15 pro max. Portrait video mode is kinda wonky, I use it when I’m eating and watching TikTok videos or Instagram reels, lol
It's good! I'm a little bit concerned when I put my finger through the loophole it might have bent the spring out of shape so I stopped doing that I'm probably going to do a follow-up quick review 6 months from now after I do my cheat Wireless testing test to see whether this case accessory impacts wireless charging in terms of thermals
I had issues with the adhesive coming off a compatible case. They recommended to remove the center liner in the back. The liner cause issues with the middle to not rotate 360 effectively. After removing liner was wayyyy smoother
If this could do portrait mode without falling over it would be almost perfect. I still prefer the magone magsafe grip it works great in land scape and portrait. And it's detachable.
Out of curiosity, have you tried making sure that it is perfectly lined up? I have the snap 3 pro and if it is misaligned just a little it will still act like it wirelessly charges, but is super slow and inefficient.
@@JSyntax Agreed. I have a Galaxy fold 4 and to get the correct placement I have to trim the bottom right portion of my camera lip and put the snap 3 (future snap 4), as close to the camera bump as I can.
Do you have any experience with or know of anyone who has tried applying the Snap 4 to a magsafe phone case without using the adhesive and instead relying on just the magnetic strength between the case and the Snap 4?
Thank you so much for the review! It is extremely helpful and I went ahead and bought one. I have the Scooch Wingman on my Galaxy Z-Fold 3 right now but it's so gosh darn thick I can't hardly stand it because the phone is already thick enough. It's too bad because I love the Wingman! Just time to move on.
It seems like the only thing is it doesn't do well is when you're actually holding it (like when you hold it and your phone is against your ear while talking)? But this is super important 😂
When that AI sounding part was over, I wondered if I had just saw an ad without realizing 😂 But yes, the review was so helpful because I didn’t know how to get it to stand in portrait mode!

@@JSyntax yeah, I’ve used ohsnap since the first one and the 2 was the best. The 3 barely lasted a year because the plastic would break by far the worst of them all so far. Pretty pissed at the product and skeptical about the 4 and that plastic

So i thought it was totally magnetic but its a stick on😂😂😂😂. So when I pry it off my case how good will it stick to a new one? Not only that $35.00 for a pop Socket ffs wtf are people thinking
wireless charging will destroy your battery, ask me how u know. ever since my phone battery bloated and busted thru the phone chassis i jave never used it. always use a cord and just enable safe charging where it shuts off charging at 80%
**** DON'T BUY!!!! **** I owned the snap 3 pro. I absolutely loved it. I was stoked to see they came out with a new one. They fixed the issues of the 3 and created a new issue. When I used it with my luxe it stuck to my wallet and peeled off my phone. Then I tried it with my car mount. It pulled the magnets in my car mount out of their housing. They sent me new adhesive but it didn't work. Going back to my pro 3.
