⚠️NOTES⚠️ - The phone can't be used as a DAC for your laptop (DAPs can, and also act as Bluetooth DAC) - The GPS situation is just like WiFi, actually any other phone can’t lock on underground but the MIAD feels like a smidge less snappy, but still usable - I forgot to add B rolls for the screen part 😂 apologies for that but hopefully still helps!
The phones been out for a half a year and this is the first proper review of ownership. Thank you. AND you're the first person to mention the case. No ones even mentioned it in the head-fi thread. Best review of the MIAD-01 by far.
Haha I'll be honest if I uploaded the review 2 months ago it would be a lot less positive since software update is uncertain and the fingerprint never worked
Been waiting your full review on the Moondrop MIAD for months. Glad that you take your time with the phone for more depth experience. The fact that Moondrop support the phone is a relief (should've come with android 14 in the first place but still), some brand don't even give updates to their phones. Hopefully it's a sign Moondrop gonna keep on going with their phone venture. I was hyped up when Moondrop announced this phone, the spec on paper aren't bad but after some more thoughts I'd rather skip for now.... especially since it's still $600 on Tokeped 🤣
Haha yeah man I'm glad to be able to review this phone after all those updates, and bringing it to SIAS as well made me appreciate it even more Lots of hope with this phone but yeah I mean prices in Indo now isn't very good, best way is to buy it from China and take it home cause it'll be free of charge to register IMEI
If they make a new generation of this Moondrop Phone, I'll probably consider buying one, because I'm planning to buy a DAP.. I'll just get by with my phones now. 😂😂
I hope they commit to making a better phone DAC, the kind of phone they themselves would want to use. Honestly wouldnt mind, if they increased the price to 500 for the next phone, as long as they include better camera, specs, screen, software and design.
the exact thoughts I have after watching this review, would rather it being $500-$600 and have a better phone, atleast they are doing something many are not which gives me some hope they will come out with a higher spec'd one.
Haha we'll have to wait and see but I definitely would love to see at least a Dimensity 8000 series used Or a better camera would be nice as well, ah yeah and a flat screen haha
Nice review! For the screen protector situation, I had to replace mine because of the bubbles so I'm actually using screen protectors for realme 12 Pro+ 5G as a substitute since they both have the similar screen (both 6.7" and curved, at least based on the specs). While I cannot say for certain if it's perfect, so far it has worked well enough for me.
Haha what I meant is it's got around 400-500k AnTuTu (heard it's a rebrand Dimensity 1080) so that's why I said it's similar Much better GPU (and other things) in my book is at least Dimensity 8300 like fate said 😁
I realy what on of that, i just don't have money for that now xD ...but... I think a Jelly Star with a good usb dongle can be a better dap with a SIM card for workout xD
@@namedkenn I think if I take a Jelly, i will use some dac USB device like Free DSP or a Moondrop May. But... i will never know how god is to doing chores in the kitchen listening a Moondrop Para :v
Did you import it? Don't think it is released here. It reminds me (a little bit) about LG V series. Unfortunately Moondrop designed this as kinda mid-range phone :(
Sent by shenzhenaudio, and it's kinda like LG but not really since here you got the SRC bypass and balanced 4.4 jack which is more akin to DAPs instead
Never show this phone to your spanish speaking friends. MIAD01 is basically the spanish word "miado" which is an adjective for something that has been peed on.
No please not Spotify 😂 in my experience they have the worst sound quality even compared to YT music But yeah I mean a free trial of Tidal or Apple Music would be nice but that's a bit of a stretch
I actually read some reviews mentioning it but I tested with a lot of IEMs and never had any issue, not sure if I'm not sensitive enough or it's hardware variance
@@namedkenn First thing I noticed is clicks when discretisation changes. Then in a track with a lot of silence in it, the noise in that was noticeable (compared to silent 4,4). Otherwise it's not that noticeable by ear.
MIAD only have HibyMusic as default music player You can try it yourself since Hibymusic is free PowerAmp have nice UI tho, but idk why i don't hear any difference between using DAC or not And this is why HibyMusic perform better if you use DAC
You can use any player you use currently! In the video I showcased HibyMusic for my offline files, which is pre-installed with the phone but honestly if you don’t use it you can just uninstall
For those who already own G8 then yes it might not replace it but actually I do think for people looking into buying one would be better off with the Moondrop cause it's got global SRC bypass and 4.4 Balanced connection

I didn't expect someone will actually upload a long-term vid about MIAD 😯
Haha I'll be honest if I uploaded the review 2 months ago it would be a lot less positive since software update is uncertain and the fingerprint never worked
Damn I'm early. Been a fan for 2 years now and you still are my go-to reviewer. Thanks for all the quality content man!

You are one of the few Youtbers that make me want to rush out and get the device. Good work man!
Haha I'm honored 😁 thanks and hope you'll enjoy it!
everything so detailed wow, best phone review channel
I’m so glad you found so!
Great work. Cheers from Auckland 🇳🇿 I am an audiophile but knows too little about modern tech so I value your honesty.
Thanks for the kind comment! Love to help and hopefully my future videos will do the same 😁

Yeah man I mean take your time, and if Moondrop will make another one hopefully they’ll learn from the shortcomings here
I hope they commit to making a better phone DAC, the kind of phone they themselves would want to use.

Thanks for the review! I'm thinking of getting this as a secondary phone in the future. Btw, where can I buy that Moondrop shirt?

Is bro Indonesian?
Great review! Subbed!
Yeah, and thanks for the sub!
1. Missed opportunity to call it MAID 01.
2. Lava Blaze Curve but with a headphone jack and microsd slot.
Haha nah I'm not gonna call it maid, but yeah I just looked it up and found very familiar, also with bigger storage but is it an Indian only brand?
But at least, it's a Blaze Curve without GMS and focused for the AOSP stock enjoyers by default.
12:32 just brought your phone to the nearest tech mall, there's usually custom hidrogel there
thanks~ maybe I'll wait for 2nd or 3rd iteration.
Hopefully they'll find success in this niche!
Wahh.. Thank you sirr
You're welcome 😁
Selamat pagi Kenneth, Makasih Banyak. Aku orang Ingriss tinggal di Indonesia, video bagus bngt. Mantap
Haha terimakasih kembali sudah nonton!
The 7050 is not just a 5g helio g99. It's a totally different processor with a much better gpu as well.
@@Daraabinator They should have given atleast dimensity 8300 or above at that price point.

Haha that’s an interesting phone, although having a DAC dongle attached will always add significant extra thickness no matter how you get around it

Since it's a music-centric phone, how about the performance of the built-in speaker or speakers
Haha the speaker is nothing special, so to be more specific it’s a headphone specific phone
Never show this phone to your spanish speaking friends. MIAD01 is basically the spanish word "miado" which is an adjective for something that has been peed on.
Should u buy? First time i ever heard oF this brand 😁😅
That’s the purpose of this long term review, to share my thoughts on this brand new phone
Moon drop basically If MiHoYo making phones, Audio and hardware instead of video Games
😂😂😂
Haha I can somehow relate!
Considering how low quality the Golden Ages I ordered were, I'm not trusting their phone with my banking info and phone calls. Na-uh.
Phone calls are fine but banking yeah not sure, that's why I say this is for secondary phone
Was this the thing that was advertised as a phone but admitted that the camera is not much but does the job?
Or it was a different device 😅
Yeah I talked about it in the camera section hahaha
@kenneth could you share a link to download audio console app
You just have to update your phone to get it
Make a video for soundcore liberty 4 pro 😁😁
Does the GPS work, some reviews say it don't work
Uhh well I talked about it in the vid, even shown a footage
This phone miss out on 1 year free trial of spotify or something
No please not Spotify 😂 in my experience they have the worst sound quality even compared to YT music
But yeah I mean a free trial of Tidal or Apple Music would be nice but that's a bit of a stretch
Nooo!!!! I just bought s23 ultra and i want a phone just to listen to music. Why is this recommended now! 😞
What is this
And why i don’t know about it
Haha well here you go!
What I dislike about MIAD is how noisy 3,5 mm jack is.
@6:49 are these the Air4 Pro from Soundpeats?
Yep haha shows how long I've been testing this phone yeah
I looove music but I will also lick my lips from afar since I know I will never get my hands on that thing, gone are the Walkman days.
Haha man what I can say is, as long as you enjoy your music it's totally fine!
Can you review the moondrop kadenz?
Well at least theyre honest the camera works lol
Haha yeah right 😆
I use Poweramp for my Android phone to play my music, do i need it on the MIAD or will it have the same features with its own music player?
MIAD only have HibyMusic as default music player
You can try it yourself since Hibymusic is free
PowerAmp have nice UI tho, but idk why i don't hear any difference between using DAC or not

Guess it's not replacing my LG G8 which has a better DAC

Oh damn got here early
Thanks for coming!
moondrop mocca review when
Hard at work! Soon 😁
kenneth, headphone sub $200 in late 2024 please! love all the videos! ❤
Haha I’ll try to update it in my yearly recommendation yeah!
Grab the HifiMan Sundara closedback if you need sub-$200 headphones
does it work with the dusk dsp?
Absolutely!
will this phone get android 15?
Now that I can't say haha
Masuk indo ga ya
depends how you look at this phone, if you look it as dap its worth the experience, but if you look it as a phone its not worth buying it
Yeah you have to value the DAP capabilities first and foremost for it to be really worth it
Moondrop Moca please hehe
Haha hard at work for it!
wts that food at 14:58 ?
The restaurant is called Fat Duck, it's a Taiwanese style roast duck but not sure if it's in your area 😆 super good tho!
