So many including " professional roofers" don't know how to install a flashing. In fact I only watched to see if you knew and you do, good job
Thank you for recording and posting this valuable educational video.
Thanks for watching!
I’m a property mgr that likes to get his hands dirty. This is Exactly what I needed to see/learn. Finishing up the roof of an exterior bathroom RE roof and needed this for the 2inch vent. Thanks man!🤙
No problem!
You guys are very Appreciated!
Thank you for the knowledge!
Thanks for posting!
Thank for all information
Good repair video
Great explanation. Only critical is not removing the pitch and sharp edge off pipe. Chance to damage boot amd not seal. Good final product overall. I understand he picked cheap plastic boot again to last only 10 years.
One video at a time Justin you will make me a roofer yet and don't forget to figure a dumpster in to haul off your trash. I heard there a good company in your area called Greenhead, you should give them a call to setup a dumpster.
I will look into them! lol
Nice job
Thank you!
Now I know how to correctly remove the shingles. Thanks... However, it would be better if the two rows of singles (instead of just one row) are kept underneath the rubber boot.
When I had my roof replaced several years back I supplied my roofers with lead boots to put over my pvc plumbing vents. Never rot tear or split, just a spray of black paint and your good to go until the next roof goes on!
Lead and copper boots are the best but pretty uncommon now days
Copper is probably best. Squirrels can develop a taste for lead and will chew holes in the roof jacks.
Lead salts taste sweet
Ty
I didnt know there were so many bad installs around vents and chimneys, nail placement out there.
That gust of wind just about took your tool apron off the roof . It would be brutal if you had to work on the other side you can hide over the ridge on that repair side .
This is a real life repair as you know! wind was crazy! filming in wierd environments like I do is hard!
The stagger pattern :)
THANK YOU FOR A VERY WELL-DEFINED VIDEO; I LEARNED A LOT; WOULD THE PROCEDURE BE THE SAME FOR A LEAKING FURNACE ROOF JACK;?? THANK,S AGAIN PJP
How would this job would change if you DID have to go into the ridge? I just followed your video and got halfway and am stumped... The distance from the ridge side of the pipe to the ridge itself is shorter than that same part of the flange/boot! Can I cut the boot or am I just out of my league? Thanks!
You will need to take some ridge shingles off and replace them
He didn't answer your question. Same scenario here, remove ridge shingles then bend the flap of an aluminum boot over the top and onto the other side of the Ridge. If it's rubber like in this video, you've got no choice but to cut it.
I watching ur video but worry from slipping it should have safety belt
I got a question. Could you estimate how long would it take 2 guys to tear off one layer of dimensional and put back on
4/12
7.5 square
I’m about to do that and I’m just curious how I would compare to a professional roofer?
Thank you
2 guys should be able to do that in an 8 hour day easy. depends on how skilled they are
Thanks I’ll be doing it Saturday. Not that you care but I’ll let you know how long it takes haha
@@cleec3292 I do care! I hope you guys can get it done in 1 day! good luck!
so what was the final time neeeded?@@cleec3292
@cleec3292 how long did it take?
Gosh a couple of cans of Henry Tropicool Stopleak spray or Flexseal would fix both vents in less than 15min for under a hundred bucks
This shows the type of worker you are 😂
I know this is a year old but if u was to use a metal cutter on a oscillator to remove the nails then it may have been easier
LMAO who singled around that vent pipe? Your Fired!!!
Right!?
you mean the previous job? Im here trying to which is the right way to secure the boot.... some videos shingle, lay boot , then shingle..... idk which one is correct . Some put sealant under boot too.
Why not use a perma boot.
Those plastic boots only last about 7-8 years in the South.
Next time remove the ridge cap it’s much easier trust me 👍🏼
I need a estimate on repairing my stack. It needs to be resealed.
Are you local to me?
@@Lifes_Apprentice yes Oshkosh. East side near the old hospital.
@@rickspanbauer5104 I dont want to give my phone number out on here. Email me at jequalityexteriors@gmail.com and I would be happy to give you an estimate
Boots are made for walkin, I'm stickin with lead
Damn commercials! Bouncing!
How much did you charge for this job?
A typical boot repair like this without rotten plywood is at least 200 dollars per boot. It goes up from there based on the roof and how much rotten wood there is
Also tell Chelsea to buy you some new roofing pants lol.
My daughter says I could sell my ripped pants for a bunch of money online... I don't see whats wrong with them, I like them! lol
@@Lifes_Apprentice Very true ripped pants is all the rage for the young generation .
Headlap of the 2nd shingle should've not been cut out. Otherwise good demonstration.
I am not perfect! It will be much better!
