- Some may remember a certain set from 1989 by the name of Eldorado Fortress. A great set featuring a stronghold for our Imperial Soldiers. Now, over 30 years later, it has been remade using modern day elements and designs. How do you think it compares? Is this a solid follow up to the Black Seas Barracuda? What other classics should LEGO bring back?

Lego Has has done it. It's hard to try to redo a classic. But this one pays respect to the classic and blows it out of the water all in one.
I think they did a phenomenal job with Galaxy explorer as well though, that was the most fun I had building a set
Imperial cannon shooting at an Imperial Walker.
Oh my goodness, you're right!
definitely a set worth adding to anyone’s collection 😊👍
Great remake. I'm fortunate to have the original. I wish lego would do more remakes of the classic sets.
So glad they are remaking the imperial side of the pirates line. I was afraid they were staying away from it for PR reasons.

It looks so good! They need to re-issue Pirate of Barracuda Bay, I missed out on that one...
Well there is that 3n1 creator pirate ship. It’s not quite as famous as Barracuda Bay but it’s half the price and it fits in nicely.
Best Lego reviewer out there, definitely a buy!!! Had some sets of this theme as a kid but never the Fortress, time to fix this historical mistake!
As someone who owned not only the original Eldorado Fortress but almost every pirate set released between 1989 and 1995, I was very excited about the set and watched several reviews. I discovered your channel because of this set and I have to say yours was the most entertaining review for this set I've seen. I was also pleased to see these Skull's Eye Schooner in your display, as it is my favorite LEGO pirate ship to date! 🏴☠️🦜☠️ Regarding the addition of the three female soldiers that were not in the original, my reaction depends on why they did it. It's not accurate to the theme as there weren't female soldiers before that I can recall, though there were female pirates; and it is not historically accurate as it's my understanding there are not female soldiers at this point in history. Now if the designer included these three female soldiers because he has three daughters who are big Lego pirate fans and he included these soldiers in their honor so they could see themselves in Lego pirate form, that would be great; similar to how J.R.R. Tolkien wrote The Lord of the Rings for his children. However, if they included them as sort of a woke/ESG/forced diversity/ rewriting of history stunt...well, that's something I, of course, cannot get behind. Either way, I really enjoyed your review.
Thank you for the comment and I do like what you said about the reason behind why the female soldiers were included. I definitely agree 100%. The Skulls Eye Schooner is my favorite pirate ship too and I would love to see that reborn, but my guess is since we got the Pirates of Barracuda Bay that it won't happen. Also, you must have an amazing collection if you collected all those old pirate sets. Wow!
I totally agree with you. The set is really well done, from presentation, style, modern update, modular design etc... And I really like to have female minifigs just as much as having male ones. So I'm pleased to see these cool minifigs. But, I can't help that think this is clearly coming from a bad place, a woke telling me how to think place. Women do not want to be, and do not make good soldiers, certainly not for the period this is presented as. I love the female minifigs, but I don't love that Lego is intent on trying to tell me that most soldiers and construction workers are female, when the reality is that is extremely rare. They can easily produce these great figures without it being this forced thing.
@@alexnunes It has turned into quite the collection over the years 😄. I used to have them all out on display, but where I'm at now is quite a bit smaller. But I can't wait to move into a new place and get them out of storage and put them all on display again. I also just watched your video comparing the two Disney castles and really enjoyed that one as well. I have the original, but I think I'm going to get the new one as well, because the color scheme (even though at first I didn't care for it) is really growing on me.
@@PerfidiousPuffin Exactly. Well said.
Unpopular opinion but I hate the new baseplate. Makes it much harder to display on an IKEA bookshelf without sticking out. I much prefer the old square baseplate.
Does it not fit? Will it fot on a billy when it is in the lengthwise display?
Willing to bet western maybe next up.
Definitely bring back the Airport shuttle. I would buy an entire fleet.
It'd be awesome if we got a modern remake of the Imperial Flagship from 2010.
The Imperial Flagship (10210) from 2010 IS a modern remake of the Imperial Flagship (6271) from 1992. 🤦♂️
@@DRUmBEaTTSsure but it's too pricey. Lego needs to make a new one so that fans can get a whole Imperial armada 😂
I would love to get modern take on 12V Lego Trains
Great review of an awesome set
An airport shuttle remake would be awesome
Great ending
Thrilled to have this remake coming.
You could very easily arrange this and have a close replica of the imperial trading post set.
I think it's very clever, as it can be taken apart and rebuilt as the smaller imperial sets, since they were all pretty similar to each other. I hope to see more remade in this fashion.
I think it is a solid follow up to Barracuda, but they better give us a proper Royal Navy ship that fits the tall dock..it makes zero sense to anchor the Barracuda PIRATE ship there..I would have preferred an anchor place for the Navy brig..and they should have included extra male heads and hair so one can decide what one wants (there were no female soldiers ot under-officers in the Royal Navy at that time). But yes, not bad overall and I will deffo get one.
I remember playing with the classic every time I went to my aunt' house, my cousins played the pirates and I played the soldiers...
Trains was voted 4th in the poll a couple of years back…🤞
Very cool! I put my original back together last fall. Might have to get this one too!
🤩😍🤩 amazing looking set and yes my credit card will hate me, but a must have lol.. great video and great job.
Remember getting that 92 set for Xmas , great designs.
Safe review. We shouldn’t be listening to reviews from people that get the set for free
Why? Cause after years of buying Lego sets and Lego having there as ambassador make theyre opinion all the sudden affected? Alex has proven me he is one of the LAN members who are still worthy of his own honoust opinion when doing a review. Been given or bought the set.
Totally. Nobody mentions the lack of the printing on shako hats that's been there since 2009 Pirates reboot & through the 2015 line; nobody mentions the absence of a smaller 2x2 Imperial flag; nobody mentions how the crane uses twice as many pieces than it should've in a set, which has a strict piece count; nobody mentions how TLG's copied the 30 years outdated design for the main dock & brought it back into the "remake" literally brick to brick for some reason, lol; nobody questions the wacky minifigure selection, while on the official website it says "the gang's all here!", but actually none of the original characters included here - and I can go on further. Liking that abomination on top of the main tower representing a door is just beyond me 😂 TLG's feeding some good, I suppose
I'd like to see a Pirate Gift with Purchase set like they did for the Forest Hideout and BlackTron ship.
But if they do another big set for pirates I'd like to see the Islanders - do another combo like this where they combined 2 sets. So the big Islanders set plus the big skull rock from Skull Island.
I'm not sure if anyone brought this up yet or you already know by now. But that female pirate is Lady Anchor, a long time Pirate character.
I figured they didn't included Redbeard because we got him Barracuda Bay and for this remake set they wanted to include another throwback character.
Thanks! I thought she looked familiar.
Great review Alex! I can’t wait to pick this bad boy up!
Was not a Pirates person, but I do have Barracuda Bay in my backlog, and I'm really leaning toward this set!
I’d love an updated Skull’s Eye Schooner, Imperial Flagship or Fort Legoredo!
oh yes we definitely need that 2 ships! But doubt they will release it especially when the big Barracuda sets aren't that long ago :(
6277, Port Royale in the UK, is the best set ever. Maybe except for the two Eldorados and Legoredo.
I love it, please next set should be western 6761 bandits secret hide out!
Lego should do a Remake of the Imperial Trading Post
Alex, i really enjoy your reviews along with Jason@5.
We might not agree, as we have different interests. BUT i do appreciate every review or updates of your city. Keep the Great work.
I have taken a time in spending money on Lego, but it is a set, i will keep my eyes.
I appreciate the comment! I will continue to do my best. Thanks!
the hidden caves are probably the coolest part
So excited for the 4th!
Super impressive. Great review as always Alex!
I want them to remake an Egyptian Johnny Thunder set.
I like it, but would have preferred that the govenour got a upgraded office instead of the cannon.
Finally someone shows this next to the Pirates of Barracuda Bay ship, thank you!
Alex, at 2:21, the minifigure is Lady Anne Anchor and here is her background :
Anne was the daughter of Bessie, a widow who owned the "Keg and Cutlass" inn on Forbidden Island. She is a fearless pirate who takes part in the adventures of Captain Redbeard's crew aboard the Black Seas Barracuda whenever she can.
From Brickipedia Fandom
The Brick Bounty from 2015 goes exceptionally well with this set.
Just picked this up, gonna build this with my lil sis!
Sweet! Enjoy the build.
Thank you for size comparison~!
Looks great! Look forward to building her it!
I’m on the fence about this one. I absolutely love Pirates of Barracuda Bay and the Lion Knight’s Castle, but this one looks a bit… childish to me. I don’t know if it’s the crane, the ship, or just the fortress itself.
This one is much better than the Castle one. It keeps the "spirit" of vintage 6276, one set I definitely love it and I would give it "A" for this set
Bring back the old molded baseplate and make it $100 cheaper..
yeah One reviewer said about half of it or more is building the base. Only good part about it is the MOC potential, but I would have rather had a big base plate with a large fortress on it
I actually had the set as a kid. I got it for Christmas and remember not being able to sleep that night as I was so excited to build it. LEGO is forcing my hand on this one, and to them I say SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!
Is the female pirate you believe to be Redbeard's daughter not also in the Baracuda Bay set? I'm sure I've seen her before!
She is in Barracuda Bay as well as a young short pirate who I think is the son of her and Redbeard.
I hope they redo the town system Main Street set from 1979.
showing off barracuda bay is appropriate and logical. I'll let that slide. *scoffs in dilemma stress as secondary market prices skyrocket after this sets release
more castle set please!!!!
사야하나 말아야하나 고민되네용
i would like to see that if you only make the ship from the baraccuda bay set a moc with the left over dock pieces from baraccuda bay adding to this
More Lego Space, please!!!
Like M-tron and Blacktron, among others.
Compared to a standard 32x32 baseplate, how big is the set in the closed formation?
Enclosed it is 41 studs wide and 40 studs deep.
Looks great, but need it to be less than 200
Cool
I don’t care about the some of the male characters being replaced by females but replacing captain red beard with some random pirate gal is just not good. Red beard would of given me more reason to buy the set and I think would be the same for others.
There is a lot to like about it, but since I have the original on display I wonder if its really unique enough to warrant the cost to get it. I was hoping it would be an inspired and updated design like the Lions Knight castle which was done really well. For that to happen for this one, needed a larger base plate with a very detailed fort on top, not 80-100$ worth of rock bricks. For those that do not have the OG this seems like a great piece. So I do not really want LEGO to do remakes but rekindle its classic line into new and wonderful pieces
Its stupid, they should release original again
Nice review 😊
Thank you!
Legoredo fortress would be great
Im not gonna watch any review untill Ive got my own fortress along side my Eldorado from 1989😊
You're gonna love it!
I have my set finished and i gotta say, i love the build. Never build so much rock builds so for future purpose, i know how to build some rockscenes. Makes me try out the pirate version, rock Island refugee.
The boat is a nice addition. Imho its more a trader boat than an army vessel. Something nice to hunt on for the Black Sea Barracuda!
I love the idea there is a whole story inside the rocks instead of one big raised baseplate. Dont get me wrong, i love my old baseplate but this brings another welcome dimension.
Thanks for your honest review
Lego do other ser nostalgic
Ou une gamme lego rétro avec que des anciens sets les plus classiques de chez classiques
The female mini figs. lmao. Oh Lego, just can't let go of your wokeness, can you?
Anyway, as soon as I saw the brick built base, I was like, forget it. I have no interest. Those base plates were the best thing about sets like this.
:D
Lego have become thiefs. I mean the set is great but the price for such a small amount of plastic is beyond ridiculous...
Lego in the 80s and 90s was also not cheap. Lego is just making sets for afols cause Lego understand that grown up got a bit more cash on there pocket then an 7 year old.
@@xavierg.8809 got to admit the markup is incredibly high. Knock offs aren't that far behind and are a fraction of the price, and often done better. There is a lot I like about this, but its a hard sell at 215$ I paid happily for the Lions knight castle though, as my first set in 25 years.... that one is truely special.
See I’m on the other end of it and could totally do without the women minifgures. Seems like such a waste. L ego always trying to be culturally appropriate!
its lazy remake, compared to new classic castle
too many female mini figures. is this barbie or lego. not historically accurate at all
Nice set. But the inclusion of female characters is lame.
they absolosultely should keeep doing them its awesome
