Completely agree with you on SD results and small groups. I like to look at SD as a different challenge and a small victory when I get the extreme results.
Welcome to the world of reloading. It all boils down to "consistency = accuracy". This brass is very consistent (case weight, volume, and primer pockets). That translates directly into consistent ammo overall. You might want to subscribe as we will be staring a new season of Extreme Reloading "from Bare Essentials to Extreme Reloading" early this fall. Take care and thanks for watching.
Absolutely. It would be great to see more premium brass available for the Grendel. It looks like Lapua discontinued 6.5 Grendel so I really need to preserve the cases I do have.
@@sdkweberI'm a long time Grendel shooter and Capstone has assured me that Lapua hasn't discontinued it's 6.5 Grendel brass, merely put it's production on hold for now to meet demand of other more popular cases. They told me they do plan on starting production of it again in the future
Brand new brass yes. I used the 21st Century primer seating tool and it typically gives me very consistent primer seating (+/- 0.0001 max.). But I did not measure primer seating for these rounds directly. Thanks for watching and posting.
On the alpha wait list for 7-08. I also use Laupua too. However, I have branched out into the Starline world. Good thus far and I believe it's owned by Sierra?
It seems like the premium brass is only available for the most popular calibers. I managed to get some Lapua for my 6.5 Grendel but now they discontinued it and I am stuck without a source for top of the line brass. Have you test starline for weight consistency? I am curious how it stacks up to Alpha and Lapua
I recently loaded 25 rounds of Lapua and 25 rounds of Alpha all same primer, powder charge and bullet. All Lapua fired and no problems. However, all of the Alpha rounds failed to fire! You mentioned the Alpha primer pocket difference. Could that be why they failed? I measured the seating depth of all 50 rounds and all measured the same! Thoughts?
That is very strange and since the only difference was the brass, that would make me think the Alpha brass and its stepped primer pocket made that difference. I have been using the Alpha brass I bought and have not had that problem though.
The only thing a person can do is visit sites like MidwayUSA, Natchez, and Midsouth, and add your name to their "notify me" list. Then when you get the notice, make your purchase. I have waited for powder, primers, and bulles for months
Norma brass used to be very highly regarded and I used it tremendously. Over the past few years though I have seen its quality really slip. In fact, we were shooting some factory new Norma ammo the other day and ended up with a case head rupture. We knew something was wrong with all the smoke coming out of the action and stopped shooting immediately. I was hoping to get some Norma brass from this factory ammo but now I am not sure I even want to reload what is left. So... I will continue to purchase Lapua, Alpha, ADG, and Peterson. Thanks for watching and posting.
I think where alpha shins is how many loads you can get out of them I have seen one guy that has got over 25 firings out of his 22 cm I have the 308 and iam on my third firing out of a AR10 and so far it looks better than I thought because the AR's are hard on brass..
That is good to know. I only have 1 loading on my Alpha brass so far and you are right that ARs (and all semi-autos for that matter) are hard on brass. Thanks for watching and posting.

Thanks FastEddie2413.
I am a new reloader, about a year, and how does different brass make that much of a difference ? I wouldn't think it would matter, wow.

Would love to see the 6.5 Grendel. It's such a great round for ranges that don't require Creedmore distance.

@@DanielReyes-hz1qkI did manage to get some Daniel. it is good stuff as always.
The brass was virgin and NOT fireformed, right????? Did you measure the depth of your primer seating???

Where can I find RL 15 powder I've been using it on my 30/06 and 308 for a long time and I am almost out but can't find it anymore.

Finally someone talking about large sample sizes🫡
Did you weigh the cases empty?
Yes. Very consistent brass. The complete review video is linked here ruclips.net/video/pJBOUa3m4CE/видео.html
