they just want to hurry up the case and be done with it. Lauren’s an onlyfans star, a teenager who lives in a flat on her own, probably has more enemies than friends- the cops don’t care and just want to arrest the nearest person and close the case

Neither can I. If the police had the body of Lauren (who was supposedly murdered), then they would have reports from the pathologist that might support DS Swain's theory, but they don't have any of the required evidence in order for there to be a murder investigation.
If the police had Lauren's body, then they would have reports from the pathologist that might support their theory that she was murdered and that Roy was responsible for the crime so therefore, they would've had a stronger argument, but in the absence of her body and the pathology report, how would the police be able to establish that argument in order to secure a conviction?

That Was A Big Mistake
Unfortunatly this is quite common, I see it all the time when online and reading the comments on various articles and platforms. I'm glad they are doing a storyline on this and bringing it into the spotlight because people just say things online without thinking how it could affect others. I mean how would they like it if they were caught up in a situation like this and they saw hundreds or thousands of comments from complete strangers accusing them of stuff they didn't commit, it's just horrible. Some people just don't think.
@@Toecutter875 I don't think he is. I mean David Neilson has said in interviews that he plays roy as a person with autism. Although thats never been confirmed on screen, thats how he plays him and he does a good job because thats how i've always seen Roy to be honest. I've always seen him as this socially inept person that has autistic traits and when you see him like that, it's not really creepy at all. In fact it's the opposite, I find him a really likeable character and someone who is just misunderstood and wouldn't hurt a fly.

A) When Roy came round to see Lauren, he gave her her wages after sacking her and by the time he came round to clean the flat, Lauren was gone.
B) The police haven't even found Lauren's body otherwise they would've had reports from the pathologist that would back up what they're saying but they don't have any of the required evidence for there to be a conviction.
