They played this at Maxton "Doc" Soviak funeral today in Berlin Heights, Ohio today. (September 13, 2021). He was one of the 13 killed August 26, 2021 in Kabul Afghanistan at the abbey gate. Tears were flowing. It was the perfect song.
I found this song on here right after he died. I live in Medina and his, and the other 13 deaths, shook me to the core. My dad was a Vietnam vet so I’ve grown up always respecting the military. I’m glad they played this song. 😪🙏🏼🇺🇸
Rip. A girl from my highschool got wounded there and last I heard she's still in the hospital and can't walk. Our soldiers give up alot for our freedom.
The first day I was called "Doc" was a moment I will always remember. Being told I was no longer considered Navy, but that I was an adopted Marine....even more.
@@45dgwatson ty for your reply I’m divorced from said 0311 now, lol I’m retired back NC well I am in the middle of moving to Oklahoma. I will miss the Marines going to a Army town, lol
I was a medic in VN. I didn't carry a weapon, due to my faith, but when I walked into my first platoon out in the woods, I was, for the first time in the Army, welcomed. When I came off the chopper I heard "Hey Cherry, where's your weapon?" and the reply from of E-5 Platoon Leader, "He's the Doc". Until that time, I'd been called a lot of names (coward being the most hurtful). I knew I would give my life for those guys because they would have done the same. We didn't fight for 'freedom' or any of those words. We fought for each other.
Glad you made it home 🙂 I'm sure alot of good men who served with you are thankful for your service as well as their families. Sometimes he pushes me more than I'd like ~ but I know it's because he wants me to be the best that I can be. I feel honoured to be with such a courageous, dedicated and proud American Veteran who speaks so highly of the medics who served with him ~ to me that speaks volumes about the man. Thank you for choosing me to be your partner in this journey called life. And, yes, they called him Doc (literally). ♥
They did call me Doc. It's been a very long time since I've cried. But your song brought me to tears. This hasn't changed since war began. I have to believe that we all have a seat at the table in Valhalla.

I was an Army physician sent on multiple deployments over 30 years. I always tried to be sure that my medics were as highly trained as possible and often took whole sections from the 18-D training to get them even better. The results were amazing. Even more so was when the medics and the troops asked me to go out on patrol with them. I have had no greater honor and privilege. The level of love and commitment from these young people I have rarely seen before or since. Well done Docs.
Thank you for this song. I was part of a VERY professionally made documentary on Prime Video Called "No Greater Love." Also another one that I am not seen in but I am there in Operation Strong Eagle 3 called "The Hornets Nest." Both Documentaries are excellent award winning DOCS.
I will always remember the very first time that I was Doc. I was at the hospital at Camp Pendleton and a Marine colonel got on the elevator and said how are you doing Doc
As a grunt with 4 tours under my belt (2 in Iraq (1 was the invasion back in 2003), 1 in Afghanistan, and 1 in Kosovo).I love all y'all. Y'all were always there for us.
Civilian medic here, started in 2007... I appreciate this song; although I’ve never experienced the military side of this, a lot of it can translate to the civilian world as well. Great song, and respect to all the members of this great nation’s military; active, reserve, and veteran! Respect to the docs fighting for this land and keeping the others safe! You’re appreciated more than you know, heroes!
One thing you'll never do that an Army Medic will do many times, take of a troop in the middle of a firefight, but don't ever think you're less than, because an Army Medic won't be on the side of the road with a mangled vehicle trying to save the people inside, both of you are courageous beyond the norm and will go much farther than others to help in the worst of conditions.
I did my combat life saver course in 2014. done 3 deploytements after that. Ended my job in the military 2021-12-20. This song is making me cry. Crazy how a grown man can cry listning to a song on youtube,. Great song thank you! :)

corpsman are a marines best friend. They get shit on by higher ups but all of us appreciate them so much.
Thank you for all you've sacrificed
Corpsman's are marines brother
You don't f**k with our devil doc brothers.
A Marine Major said to us , at Chu Lai May 1970, 'You should die for my Marines and you will not receive medals for valor'
Thank you to every Marine that always made me feel a part of them. Didn’t matter that I never set foot at PI. 8404 was the NEC I was always proudest of. From this devil doc to all of my Marine brothers thank you for always treating me like I was one of you!
You have no idea how much this song has meant to me and my family. I am a combat vet and my father was a USN Hospital Corpsman stationed in Chosin Korea in the 50s. He was Harvey R. "Doc" Jackson CPO.
This song will always give me chills! My late fiancé was saved in the field by the “docs” he passed last year due to PTSD but he would’ve never even made it home without the docs.
Marine combat veteran here We loved our Devil Docs. Corpsman UP!!!!!
Much Love.
Anyone seeing this is or has served. Thanks for your service!
27 yr Veteran. Multiple combat tours. Doc saved me 3 times. Thanks to all Medics on the line!
We do the best we can
As a former Sergeant in the Marine Corps this song really hit home because nobody knows what a doc goes through. Great song Walker you guys did awesome.
Once upon a time I loved a corpsman. He was every bit of the doc this song signs about. He’ll never know how proud of him I am, even to this day. He had his life and I have mine, we didn’t end up together but I still call him when shit hits the fan. He will always be my hero, even if if never knows it.
As a Medic with 2 tours overseas.....this is great to hear.
Marine combat veteran here We loved our Devil Docs. Corpsman UP!!!!!
Much Love.
thank you for your service
My son is a Corpsman, and appreciates this song. Thank you to all military and first responders and thank you for this song!

thankyou to all veterans out there you are heroes in my eyes i used to be a first responder with ems i can remember working with a doc best shift i ever worked
I heard this song today for the first time. Was at work. Started crying. Most of my co-workers know I was prior service as a Corpsman of Marines. One of my co-workers told me about the song today so I listened to it. Lots of good memories and some real hard ones. "...grown man... And lie." Hit too much. Damn good song! Thank you Sir for explaining who "Doc" is.
From a old Marine thank you Doc for the ones you got home and don't you dare take any blame for those who did not.
We love you doc.
God bless all the docs. I wouldn't be here today without y'all.
I was sent this song by one of my Marines from Iraq today. I really hit me hard. I was a Navy Corpsman with Marine Scout Snipers. Did a few tours down range in Iraq and Afghanistan. This song lays out the feelings you carry in your heart forever. Well done gentleman.
thank you, I myself am a marine.. I've been overseas for the past two years in the marine security guard program so in no means can I relate to what you feel through this song but still thank you for what you've done for us Doc
Semper Fi doc
holy shit man, this is great. Gives me chills. Every Corpsman and Doc needs to hear this
2/7 Weapons Company our corpsman saved many of our asses in Al Anbar Iraq 07' and Helmand Province Afghan 08'. God bless them and God bless yall for makin this for them.

US Army Medic "Doc" 04-09 Baghdad 05-06 . I loved my job and despite all of the struggle, I would do it all again! Thank you for putting into words/music many of the emotions that our military medics feel. Amazing!
USAF Medic 2009-2013

Best decision I ever made. Now I work for the VA as an ICU nurse, working on my doctorate for Nurse Practitioner. I love this song
I've never told him ~ but my boyfriend served the US military and he's my everyday hero. He never lets me give up. ♥
bawhaha....reaching for compliments, maybe?
They did call me Doc. It's been a very long time since I've cried. But your song brought me to tears. This hasn't changed since war began. I have to believe that we all have a seat at the table in Valhalla.
As a Marine we are are very thankful for our Docs. Doesn’t matter the branch you enlist in, you’re one of us. You guys pick up the pieces and keep us held together. Thank you to all of the medics out there. I had to share this song with our Doc
To the all the corpsman who saved gave their lives to save their brothers and sisters thank you. Your sacrifice will never go unheard
I was a doc in Vietnam with the 25th Inf, 69-70 the word Doc is what Combat Medics are called, The hardest Job I have ever done.
I’m a medic myself and the nightmares that come with the job this song has saved my life a time or two thank you gentlemen for an amazing and powerful song
SAME!
I just said the same thing, do u ever lose sleep about the one you promised they'd make it knowing there was nothing u could do? 😢😢😢😥
I left the Nam in late Oct 70 and I wake up most nights around 0230-0330 and seeing tracers or star flares or smelling burnt flesh/hair/movement shadows
@@shantel1509it's the one I dream about almost every night
Took me a week to actually listen to the whole song , my boys are my everything and I’ll do anything for them . I’m not just doc , I’m their pharmacist , their psychiatrist , I’m their reassurance .
17, going through the enlistment process, North Carolina Army National Guard. I know it may not mean much from someone like me, but Thank You for your service, and I hope to make men like you proud.
Congrats!
USN corpsman here, thank you for the song! Your buddies a brave man! Proud to be called doc! RAH.
Marine combat veteran here We loved our Devil Docs. Corpsman UP!!!!!
Much Love.
It is a very rare event that we find a song that has no flaws. This is one of those songs. Bravo men.
I will always remember the very first time that I was Doc. I was at the hospital at Camp Pendleton and a Marine colonel got on the elevator and said how are you doing Doc
I have no idea why it took it youtube so long to recommend this...I have no words...just chills.
Doc saved my life and countless others unfortunately he lost his and I'm grateful beyond words Rip Doc Starry your story lives on.
3 more weeks of medic training left before I am responsible for my men's ability to see their families on this side of heaven. This song motivates me everyday to work hard so that I can steal the souls of my brothers from the clasps of the Reaper.
POG ASS BOOT BITCH ASSS NIQQA - LONGSTREETFAMILIES BRAGG BOIZ
God I hope you were drunk when you wrote this
It's a yr later..how you doing brother
Never look down on doc. You just might be looking up at him some day. “Doc” brought my best friend back. Thank you wherever you are
I spent 12 years on the civilian side doing ems in a rural community and saw my share of gore and illness and probably then some. To those of you who earned the title Doc my hat is off to you with the utmost respect. God bless you all
Thank you for writing such a beautiful song and honoring our Docs/Medics,they truly are the real heroes!!
My grandfather was an army medic In Vietnam and we last him this last year, we played this at his funeral. Thank you for recognising what people like my grandfather went through
My boyfriend is a 68W- listening to this song brought tears to my eyes because it so perfectly captures a medics job and devotion to bring all our brothers and sisters home safe. From me, an aeromed evac tach and my 68W- thank you
This is some shit that any medic or corpsman feels in their soul. Not all of us have seen war, but all of us would lay it all down for our boys.
Was a Squad Leader in the Marines with 2/2 and I wouldn't know as much as I do now if it weren't for our Docs! They truly are amazing and I miss the days and nights we had together! You guys need to put these songs on the radio! Also, thank you for your service and to everyone else who's served!
Beautiful song. Combat vet here. Will always value, respect and protect Doc at all costs.
“Doc” showed me this song. Absolutely love it. All corpsmen and medics have an extremely tough job and we are all grateful for all that you all do. Love you all
I served as a Special Operations Combat Medic in the 75th RR (if you know, you know), with 3 combat deployments. My wife shared this song with me. She said that it helped her better understand what I experienced in the field. Thank you so much for this song. It helps me “feel” again. RLTW!
I was B Co. 3/75 88-92. Doc is god!!!
3:05 “You’ll never know the heartache of looking a grown man in the eye when he asks ‘am I going to make it?’ And you’ve got to lie.” ❤️
Amen
I sang this song at the funeral of another fallen Corpsman buddy last year. It means the world to me and thank you so much for putting it out. Rah
Thanks Doc, if it wasn't for you, I would not be here today.

I wasn't a corpsman, but I know many that I call my friend. I watched them save many of our brothers in arms in many rough days, I'm am very thankful for them.

Doc is still my title to the day, 2017-To Valhalla. Sometimes it’s impossible to remember everything, until you hear songs like this, that bring back all the details and you can’t help but be proud of who you are and all the lives you saved. ‘Rah!

Doc someone like you save me. It's been 10+ years but this song still brought me to tears. You're a hero and i hope you wake up every day knowing you made a difference.
Thank you for saving my life Doc. Marine Corps and Navy will always be the closest branches.
18D here with ya brother. Having a bad day with the PTSD this brings back the parts that remind me why I joined.
We had it easy. When we had a bad day somebody carried us out. Doc had to carry our sorry a** out. His day was always longer.
As a grunt with several deployments great song and thank you doc, You kept us in the fight when shit hit the fan ...

I'm an HM2/USN (Ret.) Thank you for the heart warming (and a bit heart breaking) tribute. You nearly brought me to tears.
German Police Sergeant and Paramedic. On duty since 2010. There are faces and days you never forget.
Thx for that great song.

Wow. That song hit me right in the heart. As a corpsman, just wow. Thank you for this song.
Marine combat veteran here We loved our Devil Docs. Corpsman UP!!!!!
Much Love.
Combat Medic from 91-03. What a great song brothers. "Leave No one behind!"
No one else in my platoon has the same respect as our docs. Without them we are vulnerable. It’s good to see a song dedicated to our green side corpsman.
Just got this in my recommended. Great song! Thank you to all the veterans out there. You do the thing no one else wants to. You don’t get enough thanks.
