    Removable roof and the dry sump LS3 is whole reason I went Grand Sport over a Z06.. There's days I regret not getting a Z to do a HCI set up and have a monster NA car, but then I see the issues all my friends have with theirs and remember why I went this route. If you're still on stock shifter, highly recommend the MGW short throw. To this date, one of my favorite things I've done thus far.

    • @CamMarz
      @CamMarz  2 года назад +7

      I heard nothing but great things about the MGW, definitely gonna have to consider it! I think about the Z06 time to time as well, but the GS is piece of mind and I wouldn't trade it!

    • @C6GS
      @C6GS 2 года назад +6

      Can't go wrong either way, just depends what you want out of the car. I fully intend to throw a centri blower on eventually, so LS3 will handle it a bit better. LS7 has the thin cylinder walls that can crack with increases pressure.

      Have a 2008 C-6. So damn easy to wash and wax. I look at the C-7’s and C-8’s and they look like an English Muffin to me….. full of nooks and crannies, all of which need to be cleaned. Have had mine for 9+ years and absolutely have no desire to empty my wallet and move up. The C-6 was the last series that even resembles what an old school Corvette is supposed to look like. And they are so freakin’ fast!

    Was trying to decide between a C6 & C7, and recently found a 2013 427 convertible that I couldn't pass up. Only 14K miles. The LS7 head issue had already been proactively fixed... plus they'd added a stage 2 cam & long tube headers. I'm the 'old man' you were referring to: I'll never track it, and I only push redline occasionally. Most corvette people would probably think it's a waste of a great performance car. I don't care, because this thing is so freakin' cool.

    I agree the C6 is a great value car. Problem is, there are very few to none in really good condition available on the market. I am owner of a black 2009 convertible and i love it. Was on the road yesterday with my wife the whole long day. We were traveling the Rhine Valley (Germany) with its castles and old romantic towns. The C6 is still an absolute headturner. It is not old, it is kind of modern classic. Nowdays it is impossible to get a comparably powerful, fast and cool looking and excellent driving car for the money I spent buying it. Wouldnt even get a new Volkswagen convertible for that price. So I will be taking very good care of my C6, newer taking it out in bad weather and saving mileage using other cars when possible.

    • @vincenta1652
      @vincenta1652 Год назад +3

      You are absolutely wrong about the C6 market, there are good to mint C6's avalable, you just have to put some effort and have plenty of patience when you stat your search. Stand firm on your requirements, do not settle for anything else. Want a manual, certain color then just keep looking. I was able find not one but TWO C6's in mint condition, with everything I was looking for. First was a 2011 C6 Grand Sport under 20K miles, 1 owner that I flipped within 6 months of ownership and made money. The second was a 2010 C6 Grand Sport Convertible, CyberGrey with grey top and manual trans, under 10K miles. The original owner kept all receipts including gas!

    As the proud owner of my C6 2010 GRAND SPORT, I could not agree with you MORE! My first Corvette(a life long wish to own) was a 2001 Z06, and it was a grand automobile to own and drive. The Pop-Up Headlights looked great but a drive in the country at dusk as the lights came up, they picked every flying critter you could imagine. This would take the better part of an hour to clean up each one, especially if you are as meticulous about your cars as I am. Then I saw my Black 2010 GRAND SPORT, and I was caught up in the looks, the performance and the feel of the car when behind the wheel. This coupled with a fellow club member offering me an outstanding price for the Z06. My 2010 GC has a 6 speed automatic paddle shift transmission, and every option available including two roofs(the solid and the shaded), and it is a joy to drive. I am what some erroneously refer to as a SENIOR CITIZEN. Well, maybe so, but when I get behind the wheel of my C6, I am 25 years old. This is is my mind, the best designed and engineered CORVETTE in their history. Thanks for a GREAT video and the ride along!!

    We have a base C6 with an LS3 and 6MT with 14k and it has been an amazingly fun and reliable car so far. For anyone considering major HP gains, like forced induction, first drive your car with all the nannies removed (competition mode with traction control off) and see what it can do stock. Honestly I don't track or race my cars and the only changes I made were Michelin PS4s tires and Bilstein sport shocks and I'm very happy with the setup.

    I owned a black 2008 c6 z51 manual since new for 143k miles. And it was an awesome car ownership experience. Never got stuck and I only spent 6 grand total on repairs and service not including tires and oil changes ...i had black c7 z51 wheels and tires which looked bad ass. I loved that car and only sold it because my 2020 c8 z51 order came in.
    Believe it or not I regret selling my c6. I should have kept it around for fun but I only have a two car garage and didnt want to leave my c6 out side. With 143k miles I sold it to the first young man who came to look at the car. He couldnt wait to give me the money. He left very happy. Id buy the car back in a minute if i could. Both cars have nnp exhaust but the c6 was more visceral. I only did bilstein shocks, a cow booster tune, an airraid intake and the mgw shifter. Just a great car. Never used any oil between oil changes...maybe half a quart put in between the 6k mile oil changes. Great review and have fun. Just change the battery every 27 to 36 months or you get a false reading on DIC that says “service active handling” change the battery as suggested and that DIC message goes away for three years..lcorvette c6 like fresh batterys every 3 years. I daily drove mine so I never used a trickle charger.
    Good luck with that great car.

    I have an 2007 atomic orange ZO6. I'm 6'6" and it's the most comfortable car I have owned. I can't even drive a C7. I have driven it cross country a couple of times. One trip totalled 6,700 miles and it averaged 26.5 mpg. It also has lots of storage for long trips. When I got it I was also looking at a Ford GT and Viper. All three had similar performance but the other two had almost no storage so long trips would be impossible. I replaced a 90 ZR1 which was the most uncomfortable car zi have owned. I wanted a car that had plenty of performance but one I could take on trips. I keep cars a long time and I still own my first two cars. My first is a 1952 Chevy hot rod I purchased with paper route money in 1962 and my second is a 1966 427 Cobra I purchased in 1968. The Vette is quicker than the Cobra but not as quick as my wife's Tesla. Me and a son did the Corvette caravan from California to Bowling Green and I sat in a C8 at the factory and found I fit. The only reason I might replace the C6 with a C8 is if they offered adaptive cruise control. I really like it in the Tesla. The negative is less luggage capacity and I'm getting so old I really don't need another car.

    Great video, love my 2011 Grand Sport (Velocity Yellow). I agree with Alec, I went GS for three reasons. 1) Basically same car, suspension, brakes, and wide body panels. 2) Steel frame vs aluminum (can not be repaired if bent) 3) Cheaper insurance!. Also the LS3 is more than enough power for me, and the LS7 has issues. One thing to point out is, they are not "Brembo Brakes", they were supplied by PBR which is an Austrailian company. Just got a 2009 Vette with the Z51 performance package, powered vert, and a gorgeous Red Metallic Tint paint job. Took it for a short test ride in the rural area and hit on it a couple of times and held on. LOL We had an 04 Le Mons Blue and loved it. Sold it 4 years ago for a Kubota tractor with snow blower and loader, which was way more useful than the Vette sitting out the winter in our garage.
    Anyway, it's an automatic (so the wife could drive it) and I noticed the "S" on the gear shift. I wasn't sure what it meant until the dealer mentioned it was the "Sport Mode". Damn, now I have to wait for the car to be delivered next week! We've had a '78 with a 383 crate engine, the 04 and now the 09. I'm not crazy about the styling on the late models - the front end looks horrendous. I'm 75 and hope to get some good years out of the 09. Cheers, Bob

    At 70 years of age, I studied both the C5 and the C6 Vette. Granted the engine in the C-6 has got more horsepower and is easier to work on. The overall upgrades I can't argue against. The dashboard, however, looks like it could have come out of a chevy cavalier. For that reason alone, I chose to go with the C-5 in Electron blue. Lots of black plastic on the dash for sure but it looks like an older sports car inside. My car gets lots of looks because you don't see this color very often. Regardless of the reasons for choosing either generation as you said, everything becomes subjective. Nice car man!

    I was debating between the C6Z and a C7, i ended up buying the C7 and supercharged it because i wanted a removable roof and the C6 interior was terrible compared to the C7... like not even close. The 6070 is also an excellent transmission and the LT1 can make over 600WHP on the stock fuel system. The ONLY thing a C6 has going for it is the price, but if thats what its based off of then the C5Z is a better car for the money IMO.

    Good video mate, I imported a 2009 Zo6 with 5k miles on her to Australia in 2014, did the conversion from left to right hand drive then proceeded to add my personal touch to her.
    Down right and out the best car i have ever driven in terns of handling, feed back and shear driving pleasure.
    I imported Mast heads from over there and loads of bits for the track from MTI racing.
    600Rwhp withs H,C,I there is nothing like it and the style and lines will never get old.!!

      Good on you mate, you made a smart move, probably a relatively reasonable cost for so much performance. Loved my time in OZ with all dem Sheilas!

    I commend you for actually asking and not feeling like just because you made a RUclips video that you are entitled to have your material Like, Subscribed, and Shared before anyone gets a chance to watch the video like 99.8% of all the other videos on here, for me I personally start off on a negative if they SAY not even ask to L,S,S before they even start their video. SO I THANK YOU FOR BEING POLITE ENOUGH TO WAIT UNTIL THE END TO ACTUALLY ASK NOT DEMAND THAT PEOPLE LSS TO YOUR CHANNEL, so you have earned my following for life lol.. once again
    THANK YOU

    It is a beautiful car but I must get a C6 ZO6. One day I will be ready to make the purchase.

    Beautiful car man I have a 08 g37s manual (not clapped and doesn’t shoot flames) but I constantly dream on owning a C6. My dream is a z06 but I’ll take any model. It’s amazing how much power you can gain from just flow ans breather mods. Again beautiful car man I’d like to join the vette gang one day🙌
