Tracer rounds, do not work by friction on the bullet head, the tracer element is in the base of the bullet and is ignited by the propellent in the case, you do have incendiary rounds which work when the head of the bullet is compressed against a hard target.
I love this show so much. It takes me back to my ultimate happy place. When the whole series is uploaded, imma watch them all from the beginning. I might even ask the uploader if I can make some proper subtitles for them.
Hi, this is my first message to mythbusters, I absolutely love your show! I'm 26 now and I have been watching since I was a kido! With Tori just lifting before he let go off the plywood, you just proved the perfect test that this is possible. He had lift off and the only thing restraining him from liftoff was the car he was straped up to ???...
I can't recall seeing this one back in the days, but it's a great episode. Grant kicking Tori in the crotch, the vultures on the runway and I love how they always get annoyed by "angry" fans. Thnx for uploading!
I actually got lifted off the ground and carried about 10 metres backwards while holding a sheet of corrugated iron before i let go. Cheers from Australia
Ive done the exact same thing but with a sheet of plywood while building a highrise. If i didnt let go i would have flown off the edge of the building. They could habe just used physics and calaulate the surface area and the force generated by different wind speeds on that surface area. But that doesnt make for good tv i guess 😂
How on earth did those viewers think that the dummy would be blown 6 feet away if it sat a little more on the brink of the bar? The resistance of the bar would matter nothing at all. It's own body weight is holding it up, if it would fly, it would fly
The earlier seasons up until the end of Season 4 truly are peak version later seasons that came after. TLDR; Mythbusters acted like a whole team to bust myths instead of two separate teams that go their own separate ways. And yes, this was the episode I was looking for. Grant wearing that rubber suit which pave way to one of the best intros used in Mythbuster history, lol.
If the true outcome depends on the amount of real rain, which is inconsistent, then it can *never* be said that it's walking or running that determines how wet you get but down to the randomness of the rain.
If you work out the wing area and the weight of the aircraft, then you have the PSI generated by the airflow. Or use the jet engine you have utilised in other programs.
This was always one of my most and least favorite.. As a Veteran... I know exactly how untrue hollywood bullet physics is... When a person is hit by a bullet they tend to crumple not fly...
The gas tank ignited BECAUSE it was like swiss cheese. Otherwise it wouldn't ignite. And all this because the gas to air ratio was pretty high on the first tests. All I'm saying is the tank had poor ventilation in the first test so the mixture could not ignite.
You need the right amount of air/oxygen in the gas tank. That's why they are desined to limit the ingress to safe levels - well unless you poke enough holes into them.
Would not make a difference for the result. Wind resistance isn't linear but gets up by factor of 4. So the man would need to be at least 36 times stronger than Tory to barely hold on. And then had to be EVEN stronger to actually control it. That guy could carry a car on his shoulder. Not going to happen.
@@ShadowManceri And if the builder has a powerful grip and weighs half as much as Tory, and as for the assumption that the guy was controlling the flight path in this myth is wrong from the beginning, maybe it just blew him back towards the building
What’s messed up is today the bullet impact myth could have been verified using countless hours of combat footage. People tend to just crumple as they fall
This one's a bit infuriating because it's like: 1) fans apparently can't to p=mv 2) instead of using a standardized rain flux, let's try and use real rain which stops raining as hard. 3) literal middle school science fair project "which is hotter, black or white?" 4) just a very goofy test of the explosive decompression--didn't need retesting, but if you thought it did this wouldn't change your mind. 5) oh no we need to end with something big!! uhhhh, shoot gasoline?
the rain thing is a gamble, i disagree that u should walk instead of run due to the rain might get heavier, but not due to u will be drier if u the rain is consistent, and the blow away is just physics, how do ppl disagree with the 3rd law of newton...
With the plane depressurisation with a gunshot you still haven’t proved it as the plane would be flying at 20.000 ft were the air pressure is much lower than at ground level and the interior of the plane is pressurised to equal ground level pressure thus when the fuselage or a window is broken at that height above sea level all the air within the aircraft will rush to exit that tiny hole. It is this that causes explosive decompression, the difference in air pressure, not the Venturi effect of moving air.. time to revisit that one again but your gonna need a hell of a decompression chamber and balls of steel.
Adding further to @Andy_Ross1962 comment, that it's the difference in air pressure that matters ... Cabin pressure for a commercial airline is *_not_* 'ground level', but is equivalent to air pressure at 5,000 feet (12.24psi) to 7,000 feet (11.35psi) FAA mandate cabin pressure for commercial aeroplanes must be better than 8,000 feet (10.91psi).
1. Flying backwards from a bullet is 100 fictional Hollywood. 2. Makes it completely stupid to even have gone for to begin with. 3. Makes it even more stupid to revisit!
Your explosive depressurisation tests are full of bad science. You don't take into account the effect of pre-loading on the window panel due to the low outside pressure. Remember the De Havilland Comet ? Secondly your 'test' of driving along with a hole in the window panel is meaningless. You have a tiny volume of air in the chamber behind the door so any pressure measurement is meaningless. You need to measure the flow rate through the hole and calculate how that will affect the pressure in the large volume of the aircraft fuselage. Could do better..... Also tracer rounds have a pyrotechnic composition in the base which is ignited by the propellant charge so they are burning when they leave the muzzle. Surely you can't believe they have a phosphorous point which lights due to air friction? You're supposed to be busting myths not inventing them. Generally disappointing and feeble.
Gun magazines are printed on paper with titles like "American Handgunner" and "Gun Digest". Gun clips are in video form and can be found on RUclips from creators like "Forgotten Weapons" and "Honest Outlaw". Know the difference!

Might have just been wanting to see how the different center of gravity would affect it, rather than actually thinking there'd be real knockback.

I'd say up to season 8. :3
Season 7 has some grate episodes.
This was the funniest explanation of tracer rounds... 😂
I love when Adam Savage was making fun of the typical mom's basement nerd objecting they got some testing wrong.
the original rain test had a controlled amount of rain. real rain isn't consistent enough for scientifically accurate results
But real rain is real rain.
The myth isnt "Under controlled conditions/consistent rainfall is it better to run or walk".
i mean, that's a matter of methodology and sample size.
Thank you!
If the simulated rain rain is consistent then the results are accurate. how can real rain be consistent enough to for both walking and running?

When Grant knees Tory's groin. 😂💀

I think perhaps you had too much gas on the tank. LESS gas gives more vapour to ignite

I've met more than one builder who had a grip as strong as a vice, so holding the plywood shouldn't be a problem for them.

What’s messed up is today the bullet impact myth could have been verified using countless hours of combat footage. People tend to just crumple as they fall
Who are the fools who thought blown away was done wrong and meant to be confirmed?
As someone who has seen actual combat footage, people don't go flying when they're shot, they drop like a sack of bricks.
