I'm considering buying a Mirra 2 and would really appreciate if you could review a Mirra 2 in a future video. You're the one posture RUclipsr I truly trust after learning about the latissimus dorsi
I really like Herman Miller Mirra 2 more than Aeron, the lumbar support at least feels A LOT more supportive and adjustable, the wide back is perfect for tall and strong people. If anything, this video made me love Mirra 2 even more!
Pressure points are indeed my only problem. Less skinny people may very well feel much less discomfort, and therefore love the chair more. That's why the key is: try before you buy! And if you can, try for a week at least, not just 10 min...
I tried it with the butterfly fabric (padding version on Mirra 2), and it was still too rigid and my back stil hurt with pressure points along my spine. Some customers don't mind, but I think this is a major ergonomic design flaw, especially at such a high price point.
Just bought Mirra 2 without trying it beforehand and fortunately, I love it. Despite all the cons you just cannot go wrong with this chair IMO. The lumbar support it has is priceless. I should've bought it years ago...My old office chair from Ikea feels like a torture device when I sit on it now.
I would be afraid of 2 things: 1) discomfort (e.g., pinching) 2) how long it's gonna last. Honestly, mine is nearly 20yo and has no cracks anywhere. Are you sure the one you found is a genuine one?
Great review as always!!! - I tried it with the butterfly fabric (padding version on Mirra 2), and it was still too rigid and my back stil hurt with pressure points along my spine. I'm fairly bony and skinny. Yes, some find it very comfortable, but it really dug in for me. Overall, I think this is a major ergonomic design flaw and a confusing choice that could have been easily made more accommodating with either mesh or more padding used instead.
Mirra 2 solves the one issue I have with my Mirra 1. The Mirra 2 design allows it to have a headrest option if you want just like the aereon. Otherwise, I love the Mirra 1 so much.
The good thing about saddle chairs is that you can sit higher than on normal chairs (i.e. knee angle above 90°). This is especially relevant for some professions (e.g., dentist, tattoo artist, etc.) because it allows you to come closer to your client / workspace. However, saddle chairs increase the pressure on the inner thighs and are therefore not recommended for more than 4hrs a day. Furthermore, they are individual chairs, not to be shared: some are shaped for male pelvis, some others for female pelvis. Hence I sometimes recommend them but only after a careful analysis of the use case. Does this make sense?
Olivier, are there any chairs that you would recommend for small people around 156cm? I have been struggling with upper back/shoulder pain for years and the only chair that worked (steelcase sensor) is discontinued.
Yep, I like the Kinnarps 5000 and the Dauphin Shape... if you can find them! This is the eternal issue: the market differs a lot depending on where you live!
I have the original. Ugh... didn't get arm rest adjust. Big mistake. Original also doesn't have lumbar support. However, I bought it new for like $500. LOL
perfect chair for me im 6 foot 8 and im decently sized, when i was testing it out the plastic was digging into my hamstring so will have to find a solution for that, perhaps some cushioning i can add to the side
yep, be careful with that: you don't want it to become a source of hamstrings pain. A few of my clients have this and it's really crap to get rid of...
@@OlivierGirard ye for for sure but this chair absolutely healed my back by the rest it had gotten. So thats why im willing to find other solutions for that hamstring pain, its not like pain pain but its noticable pressure if you know what i mean but i have tested many chairs and this the only one where my back finally finds good support without pain. so ye but i agree if its like pain i would not even touch it, but its more like pressure and if i sit less wider its pretty much gone
@@LostStylus I think this is about the 6'8" person's width. His thighs touch the sides of the seat, which, being the seat a mesh one, must be and are very stiff.
Good info. Now if only HM made it possible to try these chairs. But unless you live in capital cities its impossible. At this point Id pay say 100-200 dollars just have a store near me with all the models.
I know... this is a huge problem for many people. You must test, but from a practical standpoint you can't test... if a chair manufacturers reads this, please invent a new business model :)
My college has Mirra 2s, Areon classics and like 4 Mirra 1s so I was only able to try 3, I went with Mirra 2 because the Areon classic was too soft for my likeing
it should...175 is kind of average. But bear in mind that your total height does not mean anything as far as your proportions are concerned. So you should really try and sit on the chair before making such a big purchase...
I'm 1.83 and went for an Embody for the mere reason of a better back -upper support. However the big reason I didn't choose Mirra 2 was the handrest. I felt they were a bit low. But like Oliver mentioned, you should try them out first. Overall the Mirra 2 is a good chain, just that FOR ME particularly the handrest wasn't good
I just bought a Mirra 2 from DWR and it doesn't have the lumbar adjustments on the back. Not sure what I actually purchased... Maybe a cheaper version of the Mirra 2?....
I have been sitting in the chair wrong the whole time. That explains the shoulder pain.... I would sit with my shoulders pressed against the back. Wish I watched this years ago. Mind blown
Great video and insight. Thank you very much.
Bought a Mirra 2 a few months ago and have never regretted it. It's a beautiful chair.
Oh wait, it's not Mirra 2 as it says in the description, it's Mirra 1
Definitely a Mirra 1

Do you think the butterfly (fabric covered plastic back) solves these problems?

There’s nothing ergonomic on an Ikea chair indeed… fully agree!!
Hi! can I ask how tall are you? Im trying to find out if mirra 2 is good for me, Im 5' 4'' tall.
that's 1.63 m tall
I’m 1,73m 😀
I’m 6’3 and this is the most comfortable chair I’ve sat in. Aeron was too small for me, and I rarely see anyone selling a size C.
i found one for 200$, but has some cracks in back, do you think it's gonna compromise the ergonomics or sturdiness?
I would be afraid of 2 things: 1) discomfort (e.g., pinching) 2) how long it's gonna last. Honestly, mine is nearly 20yo and has no cracks anywhere. Are you sure the one you found is a genuine one?
Hey do you think the version with a fabric cover on the back is enough to overcome the uncomfortability of the back?
Hey! I doubt... maybe for some people, but for those like myself who are quite bony, I don't think so.
i got the one with the fabric on it and i dont have any pressure points on my back i can say the backrest feels very comfy
thanks for the feedback,@@hone-pq7pp!!

Which headrest is best/compatible with the Mirra 2?
@@KingRockets search for atlas headrest i think they make them but they are pricey i think its around 200 dollar

I found it second hand at less of the half of the price. I have an Ikea chair and my back is in pain every single day. I hope I will find it good.
How has it been after (presumably) using it for 3 months?
@@_fesh it's good, no more back pain!
Hi Olivier how tall are you in centimetres?
That's a very intimate question 😂: 173
j'ai un souci. je cherche une chaise ergo mais le dossart ne reste pas droit et fixe, pourquoi??
merci

How is it for sitting cross legged?
well... I would first ask why you want to sit cross legged: ruclips.net/video/5YDXGs9GNw8/видео.html 😀

Does the seat depth adjustment not help with that?

6:24 there is a variant model with mesh layer on top of plastic back
correct... I haven't sat on it yet, so I can't say if it's more comfortable. But that's also to be tested indeed

What should we be doing with our shoulders when sitting properly?
I found a used one for $30 but I’m petite and only 5’2”. 😭
Honestly, $30 doesn’t seem expensive enough ⚠️
bro that's a mirra 1, mirra 2 has a continuous frame on the back

Do you know the max height for the Mirra 1?
mine is on 53 cm
