- If you’ve been following this channel you know we love to sift through Beatles outtakes and reimagine lost gems. For our Season 2 premiere, we’re digging up a little-known Beatles jam some fans call ‘Pillow For Your Head'. It’s a beautiful piece of music but the sound quality is ROUGH. I know what you’re thinking - Uh oh, they’re already robbing sacred graves and now they’re bringing the unholy AI into the mix?! But, isn’t AI just another tool? If The Beatles are using it, could we also use it to bring 'Pillow for Your Head' to life? Could it be done in an artistic way where the technology is at the service of the artist? All of this really came together for me when I found this guy on RUclips who’s making me rethink the ways AI can be used by musicians and the role it might play in Beatles music. I’d love hear Paul’s last few albums AI’d using his 1966 voice
This is truly beautiful. Those strings being used too. Absolutely epic. Can you imagine having John on the 'in my lonely room' part...beautiful. Well done guys. Nailed another one
We tried getting George and John in there but it wasn't an obvious win. Perhaps we'll publish an excerpt of that as well!
@almostbeatlessongs oh wow yes please. Think that would sound awesome. If not, I think we (the listeners) are extremely happy with this beautiful piece of music. Thanks for creating this and bringing it to life.
Can't believe you are singing Paul's verses. And AI then sings it. This would not be on the Top 40 if the Beatles were not already so loved.
What a fantastic and worthwhile project. You can’t argue with the stunning result 👌❤
Thanks so much 😊
Im glad you released this. It gives us a chance to listen to something close to what might’ve been. Thank you 👏👏👏
Thanks for listening.
consistently blown away by your channel. the love for the beatles and music in general is such a pick me up.
So nice of you to say. Thank you.
Wow. This is beautiful. Thank you!
Wow. This is unbelievable!
Beautiful work.
Thanks so much.
Incredible! Thanks for uploading.
Working closely with Brett on Pillow For Your Head was great fun. I was already a fan of Almost Beatle Songs - as any serious Beatle fan should be ! - so I knew there was something really interesting coming my way when he got in touch with me. It's amazing to see it all finally come together!
Bravo to everyone involved in this great project. Another awesome, respectful creative excercise and tribute to the Beatles immense body of work.
Honored to work with you Nahuel. Perhaps again in the near future!
Did you think about adding a bridge, pre-chorus, or outro? Either written by you or taken from another Beatles fragment? I ask not because what you did is inadequate (it’s great!) but to think about how far we can take these derived works.
Thought about it, but we generally try to stick with arranging rather than composing new music. Keepin’ it pure Macca, y’know?
@@almostbeatlessongs Certainly a defensible position. Some Beatles fans get the vapors just from AI, let alone someone trying to be a Beatles co-writer. But it might be worth considering at some point when you unearth a fragment that's too good to ignore but too short to constitute a song.
Very beautiful piece. It is good to know that you are bringing to life what could have been by extending the artistry. Bravo.
Thank you very much!
I'm an old Beatles collector and great fan of the Beatles. I consider myself to be open minded, so this is truly exiting for me. Now, I have sifted thru hours of Get Back material and I'm still discovering little oddities. Amazing you and others are able to bring forth these beautiful lost songs and give us something new. I feel that there are unreleased songs that are still sitting in the vaults... Great work. Thanks. J
Thank you. I hope that this is just the beginning and we hear more and more artists tackling these unfinished bits.
Being from Liverpool and being a Beatles fan since the 80s I fully support this work!!! It’s absolutely amazing to hear these unfinished songs, I feel blessed to hear songs like this and chasing rainbows using AI.
Thanks very much!
This is a wonderful song. "Paul's" vocals are so like him. It actually brought tears to my eyes. I think your venture to create songs from the bits the Beatles left to us using AI is a totally worthy one.
Thanks Mary! Cheers!
I’m so glad you’ve both collaborated. It’s a shame Nahuel had to take down most of his Ai covers because of people stealing them without credit, there was a really great one of come on to me with a RAM style vocal. Would love for you to collaborate more in the future
What’s nahuels channel?
Those might be back very shortly!
ruclips.net/channel/UCcwneiXGw1nPGporEzdMrrw
I know the Come On to Me you're talking about. I so wanted a full version of that. It was amazing!
@@mcmusicmI’d love that hopefully at some point you’ll be able to release the full versions. Seize the day I remember being stolen without credit so many times
Another exceptional effort. Congratulations for a job well done. EXTREMELY well done!
Thank you so much 😀
A nicely respectful effort.
Really does sound like Paul in the 70's / 80's.
I also love the "Train" style drum riff but I dont think Ringo would have played such an "American" style riff in his drummings. However, it fits rather well, so..........
Nicely done, guys. Nicely done ! But, keep the respect in place. Thats what makes it "good".
.
.
Thanks for listening!
Exactly, I was about to write a comment about that drumming. It's very beautiful and the song sounds great with it, but it just doesn't sound like a Beatles or McCartney song. Great song nonetheless!
OMG! Beautiful!!!! Thank you so much!!! A peace of art!!!!!
Thanks!
this song is like a nice warm hug from someone who loves you
Amazing work! Congratulations! Well worth the effort.
Yes! Thank you!
Beautiful, thank you 👋💓👍
OMFG!!! I love you guys. I’ve been wanting to do AI harmonies and vocals to Beatle-ize their solo careers to get the band back together and this gives me hope.
Right on, fellow Beatles fan. Thanks for watching.
That was really nice! Love the lonely feeling and instrumentation.
Thanks so much!
Magnificent! Love it!
Many thanks!
Absolutely beautiful!
Thanks!
Beautiful song! ❤ AI or no AI, this is beautiful.
Really beautiful. Thank you guys.
Thank you too!
Well done, gentlemen!
It’s just amazing. As always you advance their music and not merely cover it. That is a deep concept throughout the history of music, regardless of the tool being used… and if the machines come to get us, at least we can be listening to great music while they do it 😉
Right on. Glad u like. Thx for watching.
Absolutely stunning new song ❤
Glad you like. Even Paul's throwaway melodies from this era are pretty strong.
Beautiful. Regrettably, Paul hasn't repeated since the end of the 70s or early 80s. Well done. 👏👏
Thanks for listening
Excellent . Merci!
Wow, that was amazing 🥰.
Thanks!
Beautiful melody... sounds like what a modern version of a Beatles song would sound like... so sad yet amazing that it can be reimagined today...
Is been so long since i heard something so beautiful. I am a really big fan of The Beatles. This is so gorgeous! I just love this song, the real last one from the Beatles Era😍This is trully one of their best ones, and Paul's voice......
Thank you. Of course, we're only covering a lost Beatles song. They would have taken it to another level.
Beautiful work
Thank you very much!
Thanks for bringing to life this beautiful beautiful song.🤗
Thanks for listening
Amazing!
Well done! 👍
Thank you so much!
When you work with beautiful material, and you work so masterfully, the result can only be phenomenal. Thank you for this.
Wow, thank you, @loosilu!
O-M-G!!! Brilliant and Amazing👍I Love it ❤
-regardless of the A.I., its been done in very good taste and very classy Beatles sound.
Glad you like it!
I love this new direction that the series is going and I hope that you guys continue to use ai to complete these lost fragments!
Cool. Thanks!
i'm sorry - but this is SO GOOD. I work in the industry and I understand all the issues but at the end of the day - this is just a great piece of music - a wonderful little song...that just can't be denied, no matter how it was made.
Glad u like. Thx for watching.
I must admit that it's spectacular indeed.
Thanks for the kind words.
Beautiful.
x
Thank you! Cheers!
Really lovely...
Thank you! Cheers!
Has Paul McCartney been made aware of this? Interested in his reaction to this.
He will sue. His rights are being butchered.
Maybe? The man is so busy, he may not have 10 minutes to spare to watch RUclips videos. I'll bet he has friends forwarding links all the time. Thanks for watching!
he is aware of "god only knows" but that is a terrible AI attempt, the song that I adore is "stagger lee" Paul and Dylan its so vibrant like a track of "ram"@@almostbeatlessongs
MPL is busy trying to take down these AI covers/creations, so yes. But the jeanie is out of the bottle.
@@FnstineWhat rights are being butchered? He's not selling it or profiting off of it in any way. It's essentially a beefed up cover, which there are plenty plastered all over social media.
I’m always a fan of AI for the sake of finishing or imagining finished versions of incomplete or uncompleted works. To make legacy artists sing new songs or sing other artists’ songs I think it feels gimmicky or cheap, though it’s kind of taken on a meme status on RUclips at this point. That being said, I’m not sure what the future of AI for commercial applications would be. The Now and Then single uses AI developed by Peter Jackson to extract and enhance elements from existing recordings rather than producing new data, so it’ll be interesting to hear how that sounds later this week after it was used to such an extent in the Get Back documentary.
Very beautiful...
Thanks a lot 😊
Beautiful guys
Thanks so much
Woah!!!! This is beautiful. You're right, it's a tool. I think we all win because of this technology.
My brother!
Very nice!
It almost sounds like what a collab between Paul McCartney and Nick Drake, and I'm all for it! Great job.
Thanks so much.
Oh wow - this is stunning really stunning
Ah, thanks so much.
As an Electrical Engineer who took a graduate level course in Artificial Intelligence in 1992, I question whether the general public really understands what is meant by 'AI.' This is a fantastic video that sheds some light into the dark mysterious domain that has become AI over 30 years later.
I learned something about how AI vocal models are created from Nahuel's discussion. Thank you! I have wondered for months how this is done.
I read somewhere today, within RUclips comments, that The Beatles embraced new technology. I think about the feedback intro in "I Feel Fine," backwards vocals in "Rain," tape loops in "Tomorrow Never Knows," and the Moog Synthesizer prevalent on Abbey Road. AI seems like a natural evolution for artists who want to preserve the creativity of The Beatles. Unfortunately, with two members of the Greatest Band of All Time gone, and the other two in their 80s, keeping the magic alive demands technology.
I greatly appreciate Brett's "Almost Beatles Songs." This channel stretches The Beatles creativity beyond 1970 and into the 21st Century.
As far as those purists who hate the concept, consider the vocal cords as a complex instrument in the same way one does a guitar, a bass, a drum, or any other instrument. All instruments require tuning and I considering modeling vocals no different.
As young musicians, we all attempted to mimic the magic sounds of The Beatles. At one time, the holy grail for those who actually studied the finer points of The Beatles production was purchasing the right equipment, adjusting the volume, bass, treble, reverb etc. to the exact levels that created the magic. Yet the vocals were always out of reach.
The many ethical and even possibly legal challenges of A.I. arise. Still, impersonators such as Rich Little made a living not attempting to steal identities but to celebrate them as mimics. They say imitation is the greatest form of flattery. Maybe all should look at AI in this light? I see this kind of AI as a new art form as much as a technology.
Thank YOU for expanding on these ideas. So cool.
I hate the whole idea. What don't you get about soul consciousness? Omg! Let it go! Most Beatles fans I know hated even "Now and Then."
@@kathrynmcmorrow7170 I can empathize. In fact, as you read my response think about what we all lost in 1980, 2001, and 2016. Examine "Now and Then" from a purely analytical perspective. Then think about 'soul consciousness.'
The grand achievement in "Now and Then" was the A.I. separation of Lennon's vocal from the piano and room noise. Was this a 'great' composition that stands up with his best? That is a matter of personal taste. I prefer "Strawberry Fields" or "All You Need Is Love." Yet the quality of filtering was simply amazing.
Now for my criticism. I was actually angered by the production. Harrison's contribution seemed to be missing, even with McCartney's attempt to mimic the slide as a tribute. It was a nice gesture, but in my opinion he failed to capture Harrison's 'soul.' That was obviously not an A.I. artifact.
The strings, orchestrated by Giles Martin, resembled the Spector treatment rather than his father's tasteful approach. Isn't it odd that McCartney would allow such after his outspoken distaste for Spector's heavy handed production? Again, this was not an A.I. artifact as real strings were used.
The guitars from I assume 1994 wound up buried in the McCartney-Martin mix. Whether Harrison provided backing vocals in 1994 is up for conjecture as I have yet to hear them. What I do hear are processed vocals from "Because" and "Here There and Everywhere." People might call this A.I. but I consider it sampling a la the early days of rap music or The Beatles "Love" album.
I totally get the concept of 'soul consciousness.' I was a George Harrison fan even before I knew he was a member of The Beatles. While my religious experience does not align with his exact chosen path, he was a kind of my guru from 1976 to the present.
I am anything but a musicologist or producer. I have tinkered with remixing since the early 1990s to please my own ears. Yet, if a novice like me can pick out production issues with "Now and Then" I have to assume that there are professionals that could, dare I say, do a better job of production than McCartney-Giles Martin without the provenance?
There are also those students of the five individuals who I argue understand the individual souls better than even their former bandmates. How many books for example has Paul McCartney or Ringo Starr read on John Lennon covering the post-breakup era?
This opens intriguing possibilities for those who enjoy The Beatles music, but no longer listen because they have heard it all. There are students of each individual in The Beatles. Some are right here with @almostbeatlessongs. They have an ear and what I consider a superior musicological understanding - even to the colloquialisms John, Paul, George, and Ringo used.
Again, the instrument in music that has been so difficult to reproduce is the vocal cord (analytical). Believe me, I understand the aspects of the soul in music. The soul won't be the same creating the AI music, but there might be those with talent who can capture a glimpse of the spirit and thus create something new. As long as it is not portrayed as "The Beatles" I don't see a problem.
That’s good stuff mate
Well done!!
Thanks!
now that is impressive 😀🎸
Really great work.
Thanks!
Outstanding.
It has that genuine Beatles feel because the spark comes directly from them. All AI has done is polish it off and a darned good job you guys have made of it. However I’d love to hear the track reworked by real Paul. It’s way too good to leave on the cutting room floor so to speak.
The most beautiful song that I've heard in recent memory, even better that it sounds like Paul - thanks for doing it! (Doesn't really sound like a Beatles track, just an amazing Paul solo song.) If the terminator apocalypse is the price we pay for such AI-generated art, maybe it's worth it??
So glad you enjoyed. Thanks!
Superb 🙏
Thanks!
It's not exactly a Beatles song, of course, but it's a lovely song forged from Beatles-created fragments. The strength and beauty of the original shards, coupled with the musical talent and loving care you all bring to the project, means the result is nothing short of magic.
Aw thanks!
Excellent!
Wow! What a fab beauty. Thank you!
Glad you like it!
As with previous Almost Beatles productions, this is lovely. For me the fact that the starting point is actual Beatle melody and lyrics is what makes it work and makes me smile. Well done all of you! My only caveat is that at the beginning of the video you say The Beatles have used AI. I guess it’s debatable whether Peter Jackson’s MAL is AI in the way many people think of AI, but in light of the confusion in the media and in the minds of many fans that AI was used to create some part of Now And Then when the only use was to isolate a vocal from a piano. There was no John vocal created by AI, unlike Paul’s vocal in Pillow For My Head. Anyroad, great stuff and look forward to future creations/reimaginings!
Thanks! I’ve heard that Paul used AI to de-age his own voice for Now and Then. Can anyone confirm? Also, for us AI is fair game so long as we’re transparent regarding its use.
@@almostbeatlessongsI’d be interested too to hear if de-aging used. So far I’ve heard nothing about that for Now And Then. When Paul and Ringo are joining on the chorusy part it’s seems to me to be their current age voices. Otherwise the bgs are adapted from Beatles tracks a la “Love” soundtrack. Let me know what u find out if anything. Thanks again.
Top stuff. Another banger.
Thanks!
That was amazing!!! I'm pretty sure the great Paul Mc Cartney would come to appreciate the efforts you made for making his sdong a realization...
Wow, thank you!
Stunning, more, more, more please
Thx!
Awesome.
Thank you! Cheers!
Wowww amazing.
Glad u like. Thx for watching.
It's a simple answer to the question on the thumbnail.
No.
Our society has lost all sense of ethics and embraces mediocrity. They crave immediate satisfaction.
So when someone like me tries to explain why AI is being misused, it just causes their heads to explode.
There are very few people left with my point of view. It's why customer service no longer exists, quality of our products have gone down, it's why most of our population is overweight or obese, it's why a large portion of our society self mutilates, etc.
So AI will persist and grow and no one will be able to tell what's real or fake. Including speeches from our leaders.
But as long as TikTok, Netflix, Twitter and all keeps everyone distracted it doesn't matter.
Great point well said. It is all going to be too overwhelming.
This sounds like a cowboy who refused to take the train or a car to travel, or someone who insisted on using candles to light his house at night when electricity came about, or coal to warm it during winter. Things change. We have to learn to cope with it and use new technology as best as we can. A.I. is a tool and it will change everything, just like Photoshop revolutionized the visual arts 25 years ago, and better printing technologies changed things for publicity artists, etc. Examples would be way too numerous to list. It's just the way it is, it's called evolution.
@@PourlephoneProductions What an idiotic concept. Comparing travel technology to AI.
Come back in 2 years and tell me how you feel then.
We don't have to learn how to "cope" as you so aptly put it. We have to learn how to be RESPONSIBLE which is something today's people have lost a complete understanding of.
Logic and understanding make peoples' heads explode. You simply cannot make people understand this.
Good luck.
Well put. Good points. 🙂
@@willswalkingwest7267 Yes, please. Let's come back in two years and see how the technology has progressed. By then, I'm sure you'll have found something else to be afraid of.
This is beautiful.
Damn! That man’s got a great Paul impression!
Hear that, Nahuel? Thanks for watching!
Love this.
Fabulous
Amazing. The finished product sounds like son of “Jenny Wren” from Chaos and Creation!
Interesting!
Loved it! More please! 😊
Coming up!
Beautiful song, great work on both ends. I’m not against using AI for finishing and/or putting together songs that could have been Beatles songs. The “Beatles” AI version of “Watching Rainbows” is now one of my favorite songs to listen to.
“Pillow for Your Head” is just as good I think.
Thanks!
Great job!
Thanks much!
Beautiful
Thank you
Wow. Just wow.
really good
Thanks!
Beautiful!
Thank you! Cheers!
Wow! This is awesome! I've always thought that in the next 50 years, we will see a revival of long lost icons come back on stage to sing their songs and new music tracks... West world style.
Glad you like. Thanks for watching!
Pretty sweet. Thanks for the labor of love.
Thanks, Phil!
this was quite lovely
Right on. Thanks again for watching.
This was inspiring. I've always recorded, when possible, my improvisations, alone and in jammy situations and i can positively say that there are around two hundred songs that could be worked on and although I'm no Beatle, they could have been good for any decent pop
ock act. Only managed a half a dozen complete demos (they're on YT) for lack of time and gear.
Thank you!
Interesting sound engineering and musicology at mix, is what I would call it and where it brings me this, I am not opposed to it. Not sure if the instruments used would have been chosen back then. I think not. But that’s just musician in me. Paul may have gone for an all acoustic backing with a nice break or it could’ve turned out like a Blackbird piece, just Paul. Now, I’m being picky,..but I think there’s a good reason for collaboration and’s trying to stay authentic and here’s where I came in about instrumentation. Does it fit or not ? Great work though in threading the lyric, the feeling of the song etc. you nailed that. 💯 percent. Thank you also for the video. Have subscribed now. Cheers, Colin 🇦🇺Cairns
Yes, once again you've astounded me! Truly a special video and a jaw dropping collaboration. More to come one can hope ...
A thought: Could AI be used to make new Beatles albums using the best songs of each solo work bringing all the boys together to play sing and harmonize, for one small example on Wings Wildlife song where John might say drop the too cutesy "aminals" which might've made the song more acceptable and therefore take its rightful place as one of the early environmental protest songs. And so on ad infinitum. But what about the royalties?
Thanks for your feedback and ideas.
Whatever it is, it’s beautiful.
Exactly! Thanks for watching.
….so who’d own the copyright on this?! 🤷🏽♂️. Love the channel.
We're covering a Paul McCartney/Beatles jam. We did the arrangement, though. Thanks for watching.
beautiful!!!
Thanks so much!
the final version is Mad omg.. i bet that must be strange for Paul & I hope he hears it.. a beautiful song
Thanks, Danny.
The thought that in an alternative universe, The Beatles are still together and still creating magic. I think using AI to a certain respectful degree allows us to dream a little that this great band is still going and all 4 members are still with us. 😎🎸🎵❤️
Thanks so much.
Aren't you allowed to dream without this ungainly crutch?
Beautiful. Brought tears to my eyes. Did you send it to Paul?
Doh! Do you have his cell?
Very interesting discussion and a beautiful outcome. I’d be very interested to know what Paul McCartney thinks of this. I think that he’d love it musically despite any other reservations he may have of the AI and the co-opting of his song
I’ve never seen that picture of George, Paul, Linda, and George Martin in Abbey Road. It must have been in early 1970 after John had left the band, and the other three Beatles got back in the studio to do some overdubs for the ‘Let it Be’ album. Great shot!
Great job. It seems that parts of the original working jam were used for Paul's song "Every Night" from his first solo album.
Yeah, Pillow def grew out of Every Night. Very cool to see that.
